This furrow press comes with hydraulically adjustable steering sensitivity for working in hilly terrain or with GPS-controlled tractors. This enables precise, reliable pass alignment. The true-tracking performance of this furrow press reduces driver strain, as there is no need to counter-steer in difficult conditions.

The VarioPack steering is preloaded mechanically or optionally via a hydraulic cylinder with a nitrogen accumulator. This allows the pressure to be adjusted so that the furrow press, which is adapted to the current working conditions, is safely and reliably returned to its central position and ensures precise pass alignment. This is particularly important when working on slopes or if you want to prevent movement caused by a delayed response to the steering movements of a GPS-controlled tractor.

Lemken has retained the time-tested hubless furrow press design. The first models to be released from mid-2022 onwards will be a rigid version with working widths of 2.50 to 4 metres and a ring diameter of 90 centimetres, and a folding version with a ring diameter of 70 or 90 centimetres and working widths between 4 and 6 metres.

This newly designed seed drill with or without passive seedbed preparation delivers impressive performance with its precision universal metering and perfect colter system to guarantee exact seed placement. Convenient operation without crabbing

A new configuration of the tillage tools ensures that the machine works 100 percent in a straight line. Optimum seedbed preparation is ensured by the aggressive point angle of the lead tillage tools. There is no need to grease the tillage tools because they are mounted on sealed bearings.

Multiple sowing options

Single shoot, double shoot, and double shoot-mix are the key to perfect emergence. To match the site conditions and crop rotation of the customer, there is a wide choice between the application of seed, seed with fertilizer, and additional components such as micro-granulate, companion crop, or the second type of seed with the Terrasem D Z models. The different components can each be deposited at different depths.

Optimum plant density

The proven colter rail with a DUAL DISC colter system ensures an ideal plant density for the crop. With a row spacing of 12.5 cm as standard, or 16.7 cm as an option, optimum plant development is ensured and weeds are largely suppressed.

Two metering systems

Depending on the choice of machine, two different metering systems are available. The machines with a single hopper are equipped with injector metering – Terrasem 3000 D to V 6000 D as well as all Terrasem Classic models without tillage tools and without fertilizer application.

All Terrasem Z double seed hopper machines are equipped with a pressurized hopper system. The two-part hopper with a fixed 60:40 partition can also be filled with 100 percent seed. Integrated pressure differential sensors ensure the reliability of the system.

Väderstad introduce the new product family Inspire, focused on bringing excellent seeding results to the 12-meter seed drill segment. Then new Väderstad Inspire 1200C/S is designed to combine high capacity with an exact seeding precision.

“The new seed drill Väderstad Inspire 1200C/S is aimed at farmers with high-capacity needs. It’s compact both in the field and in transport and the combi version Inspire 1200C has one of the largest hoppers in its class,”

says Björn Jeansson, Commercial Product Manager at Väderstad.

The heart of Inspire is its responsive double-disc seed colter system. It has an excellent ability to adapt to any irregularities on the field, thereby always keeping the seeding depth constant. The result is an impressive seed placement and an even emergence over the entire field.

Inspire 1200C/S will be available in two different models – Inspire the 1200S and Inspire 1200C. The seed-only version Inspire 1200S is equipped with a 5000-liter hopper for seeds. While the combi version Inspire 1200C has a 7200-liter hopper holding both seeds and fertilizer in two separate compartments. When leaving the Inspire 1200C hopper, the seed and fertilizer are mixed into the same airstream and placed together into the soil.

A key feature of Inspire 1200C/S is its ability to control the seeding output in eight separate sections. To ensure a constant and even product flow from the large hopper to the seed colters, the seeds and fertilizer are metered out with high output precision from the large hopper via 8 Fenix III metering units.

“Inspire 1200C/S is able to control the output in eight separate sections. This means that Inspire 1200C/S can conduct a variable rate as well as sectional control down to 1.5m sections. This is a unique precision feature in the 12-meter seed drill segment,”

says Björn Jeansson.

When in the field the seeding operation is easily controlled via the iPad-based control system Väderstad E-Control, which is also possible to connect with an ISOBUS task control system.

Väderstad Inspire 1200C/S will have its premiere at the international tradeshow Agritechnica in February 2022. The machine will be available from the end of 2022.

Flexible operation with a single shoot

The newly designed AEROSEM pressurised metering system is designed for the highest application rates. Each side of the hopper features a separate metering system – but feeds the same single shoot seed line. The metering systems can be controlled independently of each other. Proven DUAL DISC coulters

The DUAL DISC double disc coulter system ensures precise seed placement even in the most difficult conditions. The large counters are slightly offset and form a clean and tidy seed slot. The maintenance-free, equal-length coulter arms with an ab offset of 30 cm ensure maximum reliability even with a high level of plant residues. “A mud pump is a crucial piece of equipment for ensuring mud rotary drilling efficiency. The feedback we’ve received from trials with this new setup has been outstanding. Crews were drilling noticeably faster than before because the system is providing a better flow of mud into the borehole, so we’ve made the new pump and engine a permanent fixture in our drill lineup,”

said Joe Haynes, president of Little Beaver.

The new pump and engine come standard on the LS200H and LS200H+ hydraulic water well drills and are an optional upgrade for the LS100 and LS200 mechanical water well drills. A 10-horsepower Yanmar L100N diesel option is also available to power the Flomax on the LS200H and LS200H+.

The new Flomax 10 pump paired with the 8-horsepower engine provides 61 psi and 200 gallons of mud flow per minute, an upgrade of nearly 20 psi, and an additional 50 gallons of flow per minute. The Flomax features a 2-by-2-inch inlet and outlet and incorporates tighter tolerances to handle the increased pressure from the larger engine. 

Haynes said the increased pressure allows the new pump setup to not only quickly fill the borehole with a column of mud to remove cuttings more efficiently during drilling but also handles thicker mud than the previous pump system. This provides crews with increased borehole stability as it replaces the dirt removed during drilling.

Lone Star Drills’ LS200H and LS200H+ water well drills are capable of drilling depths of 200 feet, borehole diameters of six inches and pull/push-back forces up to 5,000 pounds. The first drills in the Lone Star hydraulic lineup, the LS200H and LS200H+ feature 2,500- and 3,000-psi hydraulic systems respectively. Both drills can be upgraded with a down-the-hole hammer kit, anchor kit, wheel kit and more.

You set the engine speed and the electronic system ensures that speed is maintained even when the drill encounters varying soil types. This gives customers consistent efficiency on those tough job sites with inconsistent soil,”

The iGX800’s electric, self-tuning regulator (STR) governor maximizes performance during varying loads when encountering different soil densities and obstructions. This provides reliability that is critical to achieving peak drilling efficiency. Other governor systems can be less responsive than electric ones, causing some engines to lag and constantly “hunt” for optimal performance as the engine’s load changes. The new engine’s governor allows for better performance than the previously used engine, despite having similar horsepower.

Lone Star Drills’ line of geotechnical drill rigs comes in various models to address any soil sampling situation a contractor might encounter. The HDA model designates heavy-duty, high-performance hydraulic drills with an automatic hammer, and the HD model designation is for those high-performance hydraulic drills without an automatic hammer.

The LST1G+HDA comes standard with a 140-pound automatic safety hammer. The heavy-duty rig is mounted on an easily maneuverable, single-axle trailer that can be towed behind a small or standard-sized truck. The LST1G+HDA is capable of drilling 6-inch boreholes down to 100 feet.

Likewise, the LSGT+HDA features an automatic hammer and a 100-foot drilling depth but comes mounted on tracks to spread the drill’s weight and lower its ground pressure to 3.8 psi. Additionally, a remote-controlled feature allows operators to position the drill in hard-to-reach areas and locations with delicate topsoil while also adjusting leveling control with hydraulics.

“The biggest performance impact we’ve seen from the new engine has been on our track-mounted unit. The drilling power is consistent even when making minor positioning adjustments while drilling,”

said Haynes.

The HD models are both trailers mounted. The LST1A+HD reaches a drilling depth of 100 feet, has 1,100 foot-pounds of torque, and can be easily towed by an ATV. The LST1G+HD achieves similar depth and torque but has a cathead and tower for operating a 140-pound safety hammer during standard penetration testing and sampling.

It will therefore be possible to communicate the electronic control system of the seeder with the Universal Terminals installed onboard the tractors, essentially the tractor ISOBUS terminal will drive the seeder to act as a virtual terminal of the seeder.

Electric drive and 4.0 benefits

The VRT system replaces the mechanical drive of the seeds distributors by transforming it into electricity and thus allowing the automatic control of the flow of the grain (kg/ha) to be distributed, both seed and fertilizer.

The main advantages are greater precision and sowing speed with the reduction of working times.

Prescription maps and management of overlaps

The tractor with a GPS system for auto-guidance can be connected to the seeder (if equipped with the VRT ISOBUS system).

Prescription maps are used to optimize field operations and minimize waste.

MONTANA is equipped with a distributor divided into four sections, each of which serves a sowing section: four grains exits with four exit heads on the seeding ramp to have the best distribution on all the seeding widths.

Furthermore, thanks to this feature, MASCAR MONTANA can be equipped with the optional “Sector sowing control”, combined with the use of prescription maps, which can automatically exclude, quarter by quarter, the sowing sections to minimize or even eliminate the overlapping of the seeds.

The Institute for Application Techniques in Plant Protection (JKI) is constantly working on technologies and procedures to enhance the safety of humans and nature in Germany, regarding plant protection. The aim of the Institute is to optimize the use of plant protection products and contribute to a sustained increase of plant production systems.

The electric-driven micro granule applicator for the Optima HD-II and SX sowing units has been designed so it is back to back behind the sowing unit and offers a hopper capacity of 17 liters. It is electrically driven and ISOBUS controlled. The metering device developed in Soest consists of a wear-resistant plastic housing and exchangeable cell wheels made of stainless steel which ensure precise metering of the micro granules.

Operator safety

The engineers’ focus has been to increase operator safety by easy and safe handling. Therefore, the operator is able to exchange the cell wheels even when the hoppers are full of granules. There is no need to empty them first, reducing the operator’s risk of being in direct contact with the granules.

Emission control

A plus for the environment: the granulate falls freely into the seed furrow without air support, minimizing the emission of dust and complying with the current guidelines for emission control for any granulates applied.

Precision Farming

The comfortable, fully ISOBUS integrated control system allows the adaption of the stop and starts points of the seed row. This ensures precise shutting on and off at the end of the field (without overlaps or faults) and in addition, allows the switching off during tramline operation.

Ben Sander, marketing manager at Concord, says the increased travel coming from the toolbar and the openers offers more versatility in the environments the drill can tackle.

“With the combination of that frame and the openers’ travel, it’s ideal for areas where there are terraced fields that often cannot be easily seeded without multiple passes. Across our 50-foot drill, you can have 3 feet of difference and still be putting seeds in the ground.”

he says.

Ken Wagenbach, district manager for the southern plains at Concord, sees the ideal customer for the Disc Drill HD as a large-acre grower and mentions one buyer in Texas who was looking to mimic the qualities of a no-till drill.

“For a few of the larger drills we’ve sold down in Texas, they went to big operations where the owner was familiar with the past performance of the Heads-Up Openers. This owner also wanted the added ability of variable down pressure to have the same capabilities as a no-till drill.

“There’s also the scalability. The Double Disc HD allows growers to go up to 60 feet with the same familiarity in the product that they’re used to.”

He adds that dealers will often emphasize the drill’s consistency when positioning it in the dealership, while Sander says familiarity with the opener makes for the ideal customer.
