The Farmall C tractor series is available in two transmission options: the 12-speed PowerShuttle transmission and the 24-speed Hi-Lo transmission.

The 24-speed Hi-Lo transmission offers a new cab suspension for a smooth ride and increased comfort; an auto PTO function to automatically engage and disengage the PTO, providing seamless headland management; and an advanced loader joystick to simultaneously lift and shuttle control for fast material handling with an engine speed memory button.

The 12-speed PowerShuttle transmission – available for Farmall 100C, 110C and 120C – and the 24-speed Hi-Lo transmission option – available for Farmall 90C, 100C, 110C and 120C – comes with fully integrated base telematics to geo-locate the tractor and monitor the machine for service.

]]> John Deere announces updates to its 5 Series Utility Tractors, which include more options to make it easier for rural property owners, farmers, ranchers and fleet owners to match the right tractor to the many jobs they need that tractor to do day after day.

“Across the entire 5 Series lineup, customers now have more choices to find a tractor that meets their needs and budget, and to customize configurations to match the jobs they need to finish. If this is their first tractor, routine service and maintenance notifications provide customers with added confidence while being connected to their tractor via the TractorPlus App.”

For model year 2023, the three-cylinder versions of the 5E Series offer a new Premium Cab option, an engine that does not require an emission-related regen, larger tire options, an option for a true third function mid-valve for easier loader and grapple operation, and three new model numbers. Four models are offered in the 5E three-cylinder lineup and include the 5050E, available with an open operator station, and the 5060E, 5067E and 5075E, available in an open operator station, standard cab or premium cab.

5050E

The Premium Cab features a redesigned right-hand console for easy operation and includes electronic, quick raise/lower buttons that allow a single button push to raise or lower implements to preset depths. More operator comfort is provided with an adjustable air ride seat, factory-installed instructor seat, Bluetooth radio, USB port and cab microphone for hands-free operation of mobile devices.    

“These easy-to-use tractors are perfect for rural property owners who need to move soil, rocks, logs or snow, and have plenty of power for part-time farmers and ranchers who need to make hay, move bales, and feed cattle. Now, with additional choices for comfort and convenience, work efficiency improvements, and eliminating the need for the engine-regen process, the 5E helps get work done quickly, and lets customers get back to focusing on what matters most to them.”

5075E

John Deere is also making updates to the 5M Series Tractors.

“We redefined what customers can expect from a utility tractor by adding integrated AutoTrac and more transmission options to the 5M in model year 2022. For model year 2023, we’ve taken those expectations to the next level by adding more horsepower and versatility.” 

says Greg Christensen.

The engine from the larger 6M Utility Tractor will now be used in the four-cylinder versions of the 5M, and will bring five additional horsepower, with new model options, the 5095M, 5105M, 5120M and 5130M. The 5075M remains in the lineup for a three-cylinder, 74-horsepower option, available with either a cab or open station. High-crop and low-profile models will also receive a horsepower boost, and include the 5105MH, 5105ML, 5120ML and 5130ML.

Versatility of the 5M is enhanced with an available bar-axle option, giving customers the flexibility to adjust tire spacing up to 90 inches, allowing for less crop damage when baling wide windrows, and more stability when mowing on hillsides. Tire spacing also can be narrowed to match row spacing in row-crop applications. The bar axle also opens the option for adding duals for increased stability, less ground pressure and easier operation across rough terrain.

5120M

Three transmission options are available on the 5M Series. The field-proven PowrReverser transmission provides an easy to use, two-lever option to change ranges and gears, and is available on the 75- to 120-horsepower models. The PowrQuad PLUS and Powr8 transmissions, available for the 95- to 130-horsepower models, offer an easy operator experience, and include a single shift lever that puts shifting range and speed at the operator’s fingertips without the need to use a foot clutch. All 5M transmissions continue to have a left-hand reverser for effortless changes in direction during a variety of applications.

Operators have long known that Maxxum and Puma series tractors offer unmatched in-field versatility. Now, upgrades to Model Year 2022 Maxxum tractors equipped with MultiControl armrests and Puma 150/165 tractors will put operator comfort and convenience front and center for even greater flexibility. Updates include a low-mount wiper, new steps, new monitor bars and rearview mirrors, enhanced safety lighting, and more.

Maxxum and Puma series tractors are already known for their convenient designs and features that make in-cab comfort a priority. These new upgrades will further ensure that operators are able to work comfortably and productively regardless of field conditions,”

A suite of comfort- and productivity-boosting upgrades

Nothing slows productivity down like an uncomfortable operator experience. The new Maxxum and Puma series tractor comfort updates were designed with operators in mind. The updates include a host of convenient features that — taken together — lead to increased productivity out in the field. Features such as a premium leather-wrapped steering wheel and in-cab cool box keep operators comfortable during long days, while enhancements such as LED safety lighting, new sleek rearview mirror, and low-mounted front wiper make for greater visibility for out in the field.

The full list of updates to the Model Year 2022 Maxxum and Puma series tractors includes:

  • Low-mount front wiper for maximum visibility
  • In-cab cool box for increased operator comfort
  • New aluminum steps
  • New monitor bar with USB outlets for convenience
  • New rearview mirror for better field of view
  • New battery cutoff switch located outside the door
  • LED beacon lights for greater visibility in all field conditions
  • Elastic hood closing rope
  • New advanced loader joystick with reverser

Enhancements build on 2021 improvements

In 2021, select Maxxum and Puma series tractor models were equipped with additional safety, convenience, and comfort updates to improve efficiency out in the field. These updates — which include a redesigned hood for Puma series tractor models 150 and 165, improved lighting to create a uniformly lit work area, and Hi-eSCR2 emissions technology for longer service intervals and enhanced fuel economy — were driven by customer input that has helped operators achieve greater in-field precision while remaining comfortable in the cab.

“Every enhancement we’ve made has been driven by what producers want and need from their equipment. We’re excited to build on these design upgrades in the years to come,”

Cadle said.

Constant Cut, our intelligent cutting unit, ensures that the head has a constant and efficient saw chain speed throughout the complete cutting cycle. This ensures efficient cutting and limits problems with cutting cracks. Now the cutting unit has undergone a major upgrade, which means that all C-units get a new, fresh Constant Cut with productive benefits. Below are some of the biggest new features.

“It’s news that we believe our customers are happy to hear. The improvements come from customer feedback and we have implemented it in our development. In this way, it is an important team work where we together develop our products, in this case heads,”

says Tobias Ettemo, Product manager for Harvesters and Heads.

Less unplanned stops

The chain tensioning of the Constant Cut function is improved, this reduces expensive downtime for the contractor. Another advantage of a better and smoother chain tensioning is that both chain and saw bar can be used longer.

The saw bar mount has a more robust design for increased service-life. The mechanics around these components have been optimised to ensure that the saw bar is more stable inside the saw box.

“Customers who have tested the new cutting unit feel that they get a straighter cut, and that the saw bar does not sway as much. Another advantage is that the chain lubrication has improved, as the oil is better steered into the lubrication groove and out to the bar. Better chain lubrication also extends the life of the saw bar,”

explains Tobias Ettemo.

Better protection and stronger material

A new protective cover has been introduced for the auto-release feature, which protects the saw bar mount from sawdust and debris. This means that when changing the chain, the operator does not have to clean the saw bar mount and the saw bar clamp as often as before, thereby reducing downtime.

Several components of the cutting unit have been upgraded with a stronger and more durable material, which increases the service-life of the entire cutting unit.

The bearing between the swivel housing and the saw motor has a better fit to reduce unwanted movements, providing a more stable cutting unit and also less abrasion on the swivel seals. The material in the swivel seals has been replaced with one that is more flexible during movement and less sensitive to abrasion reducing the risk of oil leakage. The new swivel seals are also much easier to install as they do not damage as easily when installed. In addition, no special tool is needed to change them which facilitates service in the field.

The 875E logger is a multi-purpose carrier with two boom options for loading or processing applications. The machine can be equipped with the Tigercat FPT N67 Non-certified, Tier 4f or Stage V engine, producing 210 kW (282 hp).The undercarriage is designed and built to withstand rigorous, full-time forest duty applications. Two options are available. The F7-150 undercarriage is standard. The larger footprint F7-162 undercarriage provides additional stability for heavy timber applications.The 875E can be configured as a loader equipped with various power clam, butt-n-top, live heel, pulpwood and log grapple options. The carrier can also be configured as a high-capacity processor capable of running large harvesting heads in demanding duty cycles.The spacious cabin has a new operator’s seat with built-in heating. Controls are now integrated into both sides of the joystick pods, eliminating the need for any bolt-on control pods. After years of research and hours of technical analysis, Magna Tyres managed to launch its first-ever “3-star” rigid dump truck tire.

The 24.00R35 has been added to the Magna MA04+ line-up and will be available in the 3*** versions in addition to the already existing ** version. The potential of this latest acquisition is tremendous and will be the first step in the upgraded generation Magna RDT tires.

Since its introduction, the Magna MA04+ has provided many dump trucks worldwide with top-class performances and moved countless loads of raw materials. The proven tread pattern turned out to be a great basis for the further development of the upgraded MA04+ range.

The next level Magna MA04+ ensures customers a stronger tyre, with more rubber in the contact patch, better and additional steel liner which will result in increased load capacity. It allows mining operators to increase their productivity and continuity of their earthmoving operations.

Converted into practical terms, this upgrade equals an 8% higher payload or an increase of 9.000 kilos’s in load capacity per dump truck. Translated to the number of cycles made daily; a huge increase in productivity!

The first production of this tire will be completed in July 2020. Initially produced in the 24.00R35 size but preparations have already been made to bring the other RDT sizes of the MA04+ in the 3*** ratings on the market in the near future.

]]> Komatsu is upgrading its XT-5 family of tracked feller bunchers, adding performance and operator improvements, as well as covering the machines with a special 2-Year/5,000-Hour warranty program. The XT430-5, XT445L-5, and XT465L-5 models were introduced in 2018, and these advancements were made based on customer feedback.

Komatsu XT-5 machines let customers travel, operate the swing, arm, and tool simultaneously, for maximum usability. To further boost multi-functioning performance for its customers, Komatsu added 7% more horsepower (331 hp vs. 310 at launch) to the Cummins QSL9 engine and increased the hydraulic flow, while maintaining excellent fuel efficiency.

Additional lighting elements improve nighttime visibility of the right track and when using the rear camera, for a total of 13 LED lights brilliantly illuminating nighttime operations.

“Working with, listening to, and responding to customers is the cornerstone of our product development process, so when they said that our XT-5 machines would be even better with a boost in power, multi-functioning performance, and visibility, we got to work,”

said Todd Miyake, vice president, forest division, Komatsu America Corp.

“We have also added a special 2-year or 5,000-hour warranty for a limited time period to offer customers an exceptional combination of performance, efficiency, and peace of mind.”

The special warranty program covers new XT430-5, XT445L-5 and XT465L-5 tracked feller bunchers purchased through March 31, 2021, as well as those purchased since launch. This coverage is in addition to the standard Komatsu CARE coverage which includes 100-, 500-, 1000-, 1,500- and 2,000-hour maintenance services for the first three years or 2,000 hours, whichever occurs first.  All of these services are performed using genuine Komatsu filters and fluids.

The XT430-5, XT445L-5, and XT465L-5 Komatsu tracked feller bunchers were introduced in 2018 and were totally reengineered. Highlights include:

  • Outstanding serviceability with all service points easily accessible and gull-wing hood engine access
  • Increased power, torque – even while using up to 5% less fuel
  • Increased lift capacities and the ability of the XT465L-5 to readily operate the Quadco 24-inch (610 mm) cutting capacity disc saw head
  • Left-positioned modern forestry cab with exceptional visibility and comfort
  • Customizable operator controls via IQAN-MD4 digital control system

]]> Most of the changes will be on the 40 and 60ft machines. Depending on the model, capacities are increasing up to 1,000 lbs (454 kg) as well as personnel ratings, up to three persons.

“We’ve gone one step further with these new booms. Having a range with increased capacities means that operators are able to complete tasks more efficiently across all kinds of applications. The SJ63 AJ+ now features a class leading capacity rating of 660/1000 lbs (300/454 kg) – significantly greater than those offered by other manufacturers, with a three person capability to full height.”

The nomenclature for these machines will feature a “+” to identify the increased machine capacity, differentiating the new machines from their previous models.

Along with the increased capacities and personnel ratings, the new + models will also feature control system changes which better align with ELEVATE, Skyjack’s telematics solution.

“Adding dual capacities to the majority of booms was largely modeled after the success of the SJ85 AJ, which has been received with much acclaim since its launch. It was also important that when adding these new features to our booms that we also maintained the features which have been long associated with Skyjack.”

Connolly explains.

  • EASYDRIVE™, direction sensing drive and steer controls regardless of turret position over chassis.
  • AXLDRIVE™, an axle based drive system for excellent rough terrain traction.
  • SKYCODED™, control system applies to all Skyjack booms.
  • SKYRISER™, true vertical rise without drifting.
  • SPEEDYREACH™, the lowering of the fly boom to ground level for re-stocking without lowering the riser apply to the SJ63 and SJ85 articulating booms.
