Reigning World’s Largest Farm Tire                                                                            See the reigning world’s largest farm tire for the fifth year in a row, the Goodyear Optitrac LSW1400/30R46, at the Titan booth. This Low Sidewall Technology (LSW) allows equipment operators to unlock greater productivity while taking on some of the toughest jobs in the world. This tire features a larger rim diameter and a smaller sidewall than a standard tire.

Last year, Titan raised $4,500 for Farm Rescue as part of its inaugural “Flags Over Harvest” campaign and has a goal to raise more funds this year. Titan has completed another successful year of Titan University Summit, its exclusive sales training program for tire dealers, after revamping the format and raising the bar by offering hand-on classes using the latest live-streaming production technology to give attendees an interactive experience in the virtual event.

The annual event — held this year over six days, Jan. 25-27, and Feb. 1-3 — had strong dealer engagement and allowed attendees to build their own customized learning experiences. There were 17 classes and 2 keynotes, many of them with interactive activities, which Titan hosted from a convention center in Quincy, Illinois, and live-streamed to attendees worldwide. Over 2,500 student seats were filled from a variety of countries, including the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil.

“Classes were live-streamed in a manner that allowed students to interact with industry experts within a classroom setting that will help our dealers better serve their customers and achieve their own business goals,”

said Paul Hawkins, Dean of Students and Senior Vice President of Aftermarket Sales at Titan.

The all-virtual format featured classes on product features, effective selling strategies, and competitive product positioning as well as targeted sessions by segment for Ag, Construction, and Forestry. Keynote speakers included tire compounding and chemistry specialists and industry experts from Stellar Industries, Fuller Brothers, and AME sharing safety tips, important tools of the trade, and tire maintenance best practices.

“In listening to customer feedback, we recognized there was an opportunity in this market niche for an improved crossover tire that would meet their floatation needs without the hassle of changing out the wheel. For the HK 458, we gleaned designed elements from our tried-and-true forestry and construction bias tires while incorporating our latest design and manufacturing technology. We also developed a bead design that improves the resistance indexing in high torque applications but still fits the standard OTR wheel,”

The proven, open forestry tread pattern molded with our premium forestry compound decreases wear rates and is complemented with multiple layers of high-elongation steel belts underneath it providing puncture resistance.

“When you look at most traditional loader tires, they’re simply not meant to run in messy and mud-caked ag applications like feedlots. A traditional loader will easily get mud trapped in the small voids between the lugs and instantly lose traction. With the HK 458, you get aggressive traction and excellent self-cleaning to maintain that traction all day long,”

Sizes and availability

The HK 458 is initially available in two sizes, 20.5-25 and 23.5-25. This rugged hybrid tire is suited to fit a range of mid-sized wheel loaders from every OEM.

Titan has enhanced its warranty policy on construction and select small OTR tires in both the Titan Tire and Goodyear Farm Tire brands.

Warranty coverage now includes:

• Titan Small OTR Bias and Radial Tires: The warranty has been extended from 4 years to 6 years, and now comes with 1 year of free replacement for tires with less than 10% wear (mounting and service charges apply). This includes 24-inch and 25-inch E-2/G-2/L-2, E-3/L-3, and E-7 tires for motor graders and wheel loaders. Small OTR lines include select small MXL, TGD2, Super Rigger, Lift Rigger, Motor Grader HD, Super Grader, Loader Grader III, Loader Dozer II, and Super Sand Flotation tire lines.
• Titan and Goodyear Bias Construction Tires: Includes 6-year workmanship and materials warranty, plus free 1-year replacement for tires with less than 10% wear (mounting and service charges apply). This includes skid steer, backhoe, trencher, aerial lift, and compactor tire lines. Many competing brands only offer 5-year coverage for comparable tires.
• Goodyear Radial R-4 Backhoe Tires: Includes an 8-year workmanship and materials warranty, plus free 1-year replacement for tires with less than 25% wear (mounting and service charges apply). This is compared to many competing brands offering only 5-year coverage.

Certain exclusions apply to the aforementioned warranty coverages.

Designed for performance

The AgraEDGE is a radial R-1W with a modern design and features improved compounding, the latest engineered materials, state-of-the-art construction techniques, and modern lug angle for optimum self-cleaning and traction. In addition, new construction in the sidewall and lug angle provides excellent roading capability. The tire and footprint shape allows for minimal soil compaction.

Warranty coverage

The AgraEDGE is covered by Titan’s recently expanded radial warranty, which includes:

• 8-year coverage for tire workmanship and material with a prorated refund based on years in service and percentage wear. This includes a 2-year no-cost replacement (service not included) versus the previous policy’s 1-year no-cost replacement.
• The new 1-year field hazard protection plan offers a prorated refund for select cases of field hazard damage.
• 2-year stubble damage protection plan covers all Titan radials.

 Full line build-out

The initial 17 sizes available now range from 380/85R28 up to 520/85R42 to match the most common MFWD tractor front and rear configurations. Titan plans to expand the AgraEDGE line to a total of 44 tires with additional row crop through flotation sizes in a phased approach throughout 2021.

Titan is now accepting applications for its annual antique tractor restoration program. National FFA and 4-H student members can register online to qualify for a set of Titan or Goodyear Farm Tire branded antique tractor tires.

Titan has awarded thousands of free tires to student-led tractor restoration projects since 1996. With the cancellation of many fairs and festivals in 2020, there were limited opportunities to showcase student restoration projects, but that didn’t stop FFA and 4-H students from successfully completing their restorations with the help of Titan. 17-year old Kelli Wicks of Hubbard, Iowa is one shining example of that.

A family heirloom restored

Kelli Wicks took a family heirloom and gave it a new life with the antique tractor restoration program. Kelli’s great grandfather purchased the tractor in 1962 for various farming operation uses. It was Kelli’s turn to give back and get the family tractor restored to its former glory.

“Since my grandfather retired from farming – the machine wasn’t used much and had not been fired up for years. The factory paint had worn off and was a rusty color. After getting some fresh gas, and a new battery she fired right up. Getting the set of Titan tires for this project was a huge advantage and helped make the tractor look brand new. I would highly recommend the Titan program to anyone wanting to restore a part of our rural American history and heritage.”

 The fight for American jobs

In 2017, Titan won a favorable 5-0 ruling from the ITC fighting back against the unfair trade practices from India and Sri Lanka related to off-road tires. In this respect, President Trump and Titan are well-aligned in protecting the more than 2100 hard-working Americans employed by Titan in multiple manufacturing facilities across Illinois, Iowa, Ohio and Tennessee who proudly build Goodyear Farm Tires, along with Titan Wheels and Titan Tires.

The ripple effects
