Reigning World’s Largest Farm Tire                                                                            See the reigning world’s largest farm tire for the fifth year in a row, the Goodyear Optitrac LSW1400/30R46, at the Titan booth. This Low Sidewall Technology (LSW) allows equipment operators to unlock greater productivity while taking on some of the toughest jobs in the world. This tire features a larger rim diameter and a smaller sidewall than a standard tire.

“The new twisted steel cord construction is part of the unique Turtle Shield design beneath the rubber which protects the tire shoulder area from damage like cuts and penetration from foreign objects,”

explains Hübner.

The tire has a higher amount of rubber with a finely structured block to offer better mileage and easier stationary turns.

“The CompactMaster EM  has been designed by our research and development team. Production takes place in our state-of-the-art production plant in Lousado, Portugal,”

CompactMaster EM: Suitable in agriculture and the construction industries

The CompactMaster EM tire is ideal for vehicles that work on paved surfaces, asphalt, sand, and gravel, either in agriculture or construction. The new tread pattern has been designed to withstand the lateral forces of stationary turns making it more resistant to punctures from foreign objects. It is also capable of operating at speeds of up to 31 miles per hour.

“In listening to customer feedback, we recognized there was an opportunity in this market niche for an improved crossover tire that would meet their floatation needs without the hassle of changing out the wheel. For the HK 458, we gleaned designed elements from our tried-and-true forestry and construction bias tires while incorporating our latest design and manufacturing technology. We also developed a bead design that improves the resistance indexing in high torque applications but still fits the standard OTR wheel,”

said Matt Miller, Tire Technology Manager, at Titan.

The proven, open forestry tread pattern molded with our premium forestry compound decreases wear rates and is complemented with multiple layers of high-elongation steel belts underneath it providing puncture resistance.

“When you look at most traditional loader tires, they’re simply not meant to run in messy and mud-caked ag applications like feedlots. A traditional loader will easily get mud trapped in the small voids between the lugs and instantly lose traction. With the HK 458, you get aggressive traction and excellent self-cleaning to maintain that traction all day long,”

The HK 458 is initially available in two sizes, 20.5-25 and 23.5-25. This rugged hybrid tire is suited to fit a range of mid-sized wheel loaders from every OEM.

Advanced S-lug traction design

Galaxy LHD 510 SDS is designed with a deep groove on the shoulder to provide superior traction on all kinds of surfaces. Davis brings over 14 years of experience in the tire industry. Most recently, he was the product marketing manager for Giti Tire managing new product development for their passenger and light truck tire lines. Previously, Davis worked as a product manager for Nokian Tyres before moving into Nokian’s Heavy Tire division, primarily focused on OTR tires, where he became the sales director for the U.S. and Canada.

“I am excited to join the Continental Commercial Specialty Tires team. I worked in the OTR tire sector for eight years and I am thrilled to have an opportunity to return to this segment of the tire industry. I look forward to working with the Continental CST team to continue our growth in the U.S. and Canadian markets,”

said Davis.

Davis holds an MBA from The Citadel. An Alabama native, he also has a bachelor’s degree in consumer/industrial marketing from The University of Alabama. He will report directly to Matthew Futrelle, who previously held this position, and now heads Continental Commercial Specialty Tires for the Americas.

General TE95: High stability and traction performance

The optimized tire contour of the General TE95 ensures even pressure distribution on construction vehicles, such as single-drum compactors, which keeps construction site soil smooth during compaction. Because sandy, muddy or stony soil can prove challenging, the General TE95’s geometric, robust tread blocks were also specifically designed to provide continuous traction performance in a variety of soil conditions.

Damage resistance and high load-bearing capacity thanks to V.ply technology

Its V.ply construction technology ensures strong sidewalls, providing optimal protection against punctures and cuts. V.ply technology combines the advantages of cross-ply tires and radial tires, by integrating a weave pattern of different strands laid out at special angles. Since the steel cord does not provide an optimal bond between the carcass and the rubber casing, V.ply technology uses a high-strength polymer.

The carcass of a General Tire V.ply tire consists of up to 22 layers of diagonal fibers embedded in three-wire cores and precisely aligned in a V-pattern. Unlike conventional cross-ply tires, the intersecting textile layers of a V.ply tire are arranged at an angle of approximately 30 degrees. Together with the sidewall layers, this provides increased tire stiffness and enables a higher level of stability and durability during sudden movements and cornering.

The situation on global commodity and freight markets currently leads to major effects for Yokohama Off-Highway Tires in terms of availability of, and cost for raw materials and shipment. Prices for natural rubber, synthetic rubber, and chemicals, etc. have seen a severe increase – the same is true for ocean freight cost. Despite these very challenging conditions, customers will only face a fairly moderate increase in tire prices.

“The rising cost of some major raw materials is becoming more and more of a challenge, and prices are going through the roof”,

says Angelo Noronha, President EMEA at ‎Yokohama Off-Highway Tires. He continues:

“In sum, this makes for strong effects, most of which will be absorbed by YOHT EMEA and hence will keep consequences for our customers to the minimum. However, a 4.5 to 5.5 percent increase of prices will be inevitable.”

The first price increase of 4.5% to 5.5% was implemented on Jan. 1, 2021. The new pricing will apply to the entire portfolio of Yokohama Off-Highway Tires EMEA (Alliance and Galaxy brand) and will take effect from April 1, 2021.
