The new split-row configuration offers greater capacity and in-field productivity

With the 2150S Early Riser front-fold trailing planter, Case IH brings a productivity-boosting, split-row configuration to its lineup of 2000 series Early Riser planters. A 525-gallon fertilizer tank capacity — along with more seed capacity — enables operators to cover more acres between fills and make the most of their time in the field.

Built on Agronomic Design principles, Case IH 2000 series Early Riser planters are known to deliver exceptional results in tight planting windows and a range of field conditions. Now, the new 2150S Early Riser front-fold trailing planter provides the additional agronomic benefits of split-row planting with greater fertilizer and seed capacity.

Greater fertilizer and seed capacity

The 2150S Early Riser front-fold trailing planter features an optional 525-gallon liquid tank to provide operators maximum run times between fills. The liquid fertilizer system delivers accurate application rates at a broad range of speeds with multiple factory-installed application options, including frame-mounted colters and in-furrow options. Plus, with 100 bushels of seed capacity (two 50-bushel tanks) and optional individual tank scales, operators can better plan for tendering with the ability to optimize partial seed fill.

“Staying productive in the field is key to getting ahead of a potentially unpredictable planting season. Greater fertilizer and seed capacity lets operators do their jobs more easily — without having to worry about capacity concerns while out in the field,”

said David Brennan, Case IH planter marketing manager.

Multiple configurations and narrow row planting increase ROI

Studies continue to show the ROI opportunities of narrow row planting, which include increased yield benefits and faster crop canopies for weed control — all while minimizing soil erosion. The 2150S Early Riser front-fold trailing planter lets operators take advantage of these benefits with a range of configurations, including 23, 24, 31, or 32 rows with 15-inch spacing, or 24 rows with 20-inch spacing.

In-cab hydraulic row-unit lift control allows operators to easily convert from 15- to 30-inch spacing with no manual lifting or tools required. When planting in a split-row configuration, an industry-leading row-unit offset of nearly 50 inches helps increase residue flow while minimizing plugging opportunities.

Exceptional ground-following capabilities are made possible by a wing flex of +/- 15 degrees combined with +/- 8 inches of row-unit travel. This ensures the row units remain in contact with soil, even in rugged terrain. Optional hydraulic wing downforce ensures proper seed depth control on the wings, while the agronomically designed Early Riser row unit provides excellent seed placement across the entire planter.

Front-fold design for simple transportation

With a front-fold frame design, the 2150S Early Riser planter delivers a narrow transport width of 13 feet — and a simple on-screen, step-by-step folding-and-unfolding system provides a smooth and quick transition from transport to field operation. Operators also gain in-cab hydraulic control of all rear subframe row units, including the center main frame row units.

“Operators should feel ready to take on the day as efficiently as possible. The 2150S Early Riser model will help them do just that. Better yet, producers can feel confident that planting is completed accurately for optimal yield results, thanks to an agronomically designed row unit,”

Brennan said.

The 2150S Early Riser front-fold trailing planter is available to order for spring 2023. Tank options include the planter-frame-mounted 525-gallon tank capacity and a pull-hitch towed fertilizer cart option.

In the BUSINESS models, the swath width can be hydraulically adjusted by ISOBUS operation and several swath widths can be stored in the terminal for optimum convenience. In the TREND models, the swath width can be adjusted in transport position without tools using a spring-loaded lever and hole matrix. All four rotors are driven mechanically and thus efficiently and directly by PTO.

This increases the raking force by up to 50% compared to hydraulic drives. All rotors are fitted with individual friction clutches to protect against overload — they respond more smoothly than cam clutches and allow work to continue nonstop even during load peaks. The shaft speed in the two Y-gearboxes on the mainframe has been reduced from 540 to 350 rpm to protect the drivetrain.

The telescopic arms are fully retracted and folded up at 90 degrees to the mainframe for road travel. Once the mainframe has been hydraulically lowered, the 13-foot transport height is achieved without having to remove the tine arms. This reduces setup times since the machine can be folded into a transport position and unfolded into a working position in a matter of seconds without having to step down from the tractor. The front rotor suspension automatically locks in transport position for smooth road travel. The telescopic arms have an automatic transport lock which unlocks hydraulically in the BUSINESS models.

ACTIVE FLOAT for LINER 2900 BUSINESS

ACTIVE FLOAT hydraulic rotor suspension is available exclusively on the LINER 2900 BUSINESS. This functions in a similar way to the suspension of the same name in the DISCO CONTOUR disc mowers. ACTIVE FLOAT is easily adjusted directly on the machine, with a gauge on the mainframe indicating the pressure in the hydraulic circuits. The ground pressure of the rotor can be adapted precisely to the forage quantity and ground conditions by adjusting the suspension pressure. This ensures faster operating speeds and reduces ash contamination in the forage.

Rear-mounted mowers with large working widths used in front-rear combinations can be an effective alternative to triple combinations, depending on the application. CLAAS has responded to many customers’ calls for a rear mower with a working width of more than 13 feet with the launch of the new DISCO 4400 CONTOUR. The mower features innovative diagonal 120-degree folding for safe, vertical road transport at a height of fewer than 13 feet and a space-saving storage position combined with powerful performance.

New 120° Vector Folding

A highlight for the DISCO 4400 CONTOUR is the unique vector folding: this allows the mower to be folded vertically to 120 degrees for transport position like the other models in the CONTOUR series. The unique part is that the mower can be folded backward slightly using the hydraulic break-back ram, which allows the mower when folded for transport to lean backward and reduce the transport height. So, despite having a working width of 13 feet 9 inches, the mower unit achieves a transport height of fewer than 13 feet for road travel. This gives the driver the choice of vertical transport folding or leaning the mower backward when folding to be under 13 feet high.

At the same time, it is positioned diagonally behind the tractor and supported by the headstock, thereby shifting the center of gravity to the tractor’s longitudinal axis. When compared with mowers that pivot to the rear, this solution reduces the load on the tractor front axle by around 50 percent, which greatly improves transport handling. Furthermore, in the transport position, the DISCO 4400 CONTOUR hardly swings back, making it easier to get into the field gate from a narrow road.

Raven Industries announced that it has purchased all of the intellectual property (IP) and patents of Jaybridge Robotics, an early developer of automated agriculture technology.

Jaybridge’s unique IP portfolio includes significant and critical patents for technology directly related to path-planning, obstacle detection and avoidance, and multi-machine control systems. Raven will leverage this IP portfolio with the Company’s continued development of Driverless Ag Technology — including integration of the technology into the Company’s AutoCart platform.

“By acquiring Jaybridge’s intellectual property we are able to advance our autonomy strategy by combining necessary, technology-leading patents with our current suite of proprietary products in this space. Having this technology will allow us to accelerate the development of vehicle automation for agriculture equipment applications,”

said Jared Kocer, Raven’s Director of Technology Solutions.

The acquisition was completed in the first quarter of the Company’s current fiscal year.

Continental is expanding its General Tire portfolio for the earthmoving industry with the addition of the General TE95 tire. The tire impresses with high traction, especially for soil compaction work in road and construction applications, and is equipped with V.ply technology. The first General Tire earthmoving tires were launched in early 2020 – the portfolio now includes a total of 33 sizes in the United States and Canada, which are used on wheel loaders, dozers, dump trucks, and scrapers as well as graders, skid steer loaders and backhoes.

General TE95: High stability and traction performance

The optimized tire contour of the General TE95 ensures even pressure distribution on construction vehicles, such as single-drum compactors, which keeps construction site soil smooth during compaction. Because sandy, muddy or stony soil can prove challenging, the General TE95’s geometric, robust tread blocks were also specifically designed to provide continuous traction performance in a variety of soil conditions.

Damage resistance and high load-bearing capacity thanks to V.ply technology

Its V.ply construction technology ensures strong sidewalls, providing optimal protection against punctures and cuts. V.ply technology combines the advantages of cross-ply tires and radial tires, by integrating a weave pattern of different strands laid out at special angles. Since the steel cord does not provide an optimal bond between the carcass and the rubber casing, V.ply technology uses a high-strength polymer.

The carcass of a General Tire V.ply tire consists of up to 22 layers of diagonal fibers embedded in three-wire cores and precisely aligned in a V-pattern. Unlike conventional cross-ply tires, the intersecting textile layers of a V.ply tire are arranged at an angle of approximately 30 degrees. Together with the sidewall layers, this provides increased tire stiffness and enables a higher level of stability and durability during sudden movements and cornering.

The comprehensive product portfolio for earthmoving applications

The General TE95 complements the existing General Tire Earthmoving range. As of now, Continental’s tire portfolio for the earthmoving industry in the United States and Canada consists of the following tires:

General TE65: Low aspect ratio and wide base for wheel loaders and dozers used in heavy-duty digging and loading operations

General TE191: Heavy-duty wheel loader tires for digging and loading operations

The companies concerned are GEA Farm Technologies Japy SAS, a French manufacturer of milk cooling tanks based in Dijon, and Royal De Boer Stalinrichtingen B.V., a leading European supplier of various types of barn equipment based in Leeuwarden in the Netherlands.

After estimated closing at the end of December, the business will be taken over by Mutares SE & Co. KGaA, a stock listed private equity company. The purchase agreement was signed on November 4.

“We are pleased that Mutares SE & Co. KGaA will become the new owner of both companies, as Mutares is in a position to develop each company’s business potential to the best possible extent,”

commented Stefan Klebert, CEO of GEA Group AG.

The sale will allow GEA’s Farm Technologies division to focus on: automation and digitalization of milking installations and processes, feeding systems, smart solutions for herd management, and products that ensure milk quality, guarantee facility hygiene and improve cow health. Likewise, the division will continue to offer a wide range of manure handling products and systems, particularly for the North American market.

Peter Lauwers, CEO GEA Farm Technologies explains:

“We will of course retain access to the product portfolio of barn and milk cooling technology. Our customers can rely on the fact that they can still obtain all the equipment they need for their farm through their GEA dealer.”

Of course, the corresponding warranties on products already purchased and installed will remain unaffected.
