“The 3505 pivot fold planter is the newest addition to Kinze’s True Speed high-speed planter lineup. It is simple to operate, high-performing and offered with or without split 8-row 30″ and 6-row 30″ configurations,”

With Kinze’s True Speed technology, consisting of a high-speed seed meter and seed tube, the 3505 enables farmers to plant at speeds up to 12 mph, doubling the number of acres they can cover in a typical day without compromising singulation accuracy or spacing.

Performance is optimized with Kinze’s Blue Vantage display with shared coverage data and up to four planter-mounted cameras. The 3505 also features Kinze’s Blue Drive electric drive and True Depth hydraulic downforce for accurate seed placement to maximize performance and productivity. Bulk-fill seed-carrying capacity of 50 bushels, with liquid and dry fertilizer options, enables farmers to get in and out of the field quickly.

Other features include:

New row cleaners

Using the dedicated row cleaner display screen, farmers can easily change row air settings and operating depth for optimum residue control from the tractor cab.

Space-saving, easily accessible using the loading platform, and mounted in front of the seed hopper, the pneumatic sowing unit covers a wide range of applications.

Flexible applications

In addition to surface application, the Tegosem can also feed the additional component directly into the metering system in the single shoot process. Fertiliser and micro-granules can then be deposited directly with the seed, promoting ideal development of the crop during germination and emergence. Surface application is used for companion crops such as grass and is carried out between the tyre packer and the coulter rail. This increases the degree of ground cover so that water losses are greatly minimized.

Intelligent metering

Seed distribution on the Tegosem is pneumatic and can be controlled conveniently using the terminal. Metering is started and stopped by the central metering unit on the Terrasem. Two different metering wheels can be used as standard: one for larger seeds such as cereals, lupins, peas and beans, and the other for fine seeds such as clover and cress.

Versatile seed management

In the single shoot process, the additional components are added to the Terrasem seed flow by the metering system. Changing between single shoot and surface application is done conveniently by switching two distributors in the seed line.

The single shoot process uses the proven Dual Disc coulters. This prevents the seed and fertiliser or micro-granulate and additional component from bridging. Optimum seed placement is the result. The seed is placed behind the tyre packer using baffle plates for the best distribution. The risk of fine seed drifting is avoided by spreading the seed close to the ground.

Additional application scenarios

In addition to being mounted on Terrasem mulch seed drills, Tegosem units can also be used on Lion power harrows, Terradisc disc harrows, or Synkro stubble cultivators. This avoids unnecessary passes to complete the sowing process while saving resources.

If not managed appropriately, herbicides can impose a great degree of selection pressure on weed populations and herbicide-resistant or herbicide-tolerant species can build up in the population.

Row-crop cultivators represent a valid alternative that can also manage effectively weed species that became resistant or tolerant to chemical herbicides on crops sown with wide row spacings such as maize, beet, soya, tomato or other horticultural crops. With the rotary finger attachment, weed control can also be extended to the row of cultivated plants.

By breaking up the first 4-8cm of soil in the inter-row strip, the elements of the weeder devitalize the weeds and prevent them from competing with the crop for water and nutrients. In addition, in clayey or loamy soils rich in micropores, mechanical weeding creates a slight surface clodiness with a mulching effect that interrupts the capillary rise of water and its loss through evaporation, maintaining humidity at level of the root system.

Breaking the surface crust allows a more uniform incorporation of rainwater, improving its absorption by the root system and reducing surface runoff, which is one of the causes of soil loss through erosion.

Row-crop cultivation is also useful for containing production costs and rationalising the use of urea fertilization. Aiming to reduce the number of interventions in the field, it is possible to bury the urea at while working with the cultivator. If not buried, about 30% of urea can be lost in the atmosphere due to volatilization after only one week from the distribution without rain.

All UNICA row-crop cultivators can be equipped with systems for the distribution of granular fertilisers. Alternatively, configurations with fixed frame of at least 6 meters or UNICA-PVI models can be equipped with 800 litres tanks to be used for liquid fertilization.

“John Deere is the first company to bring to market a factory-installed, integrated liquid fertilizer delivery system on a tractor and planter together. A new MY22 John Deere Planter with increased capacities, paired with the integrated ExactRate tanks on an 8RX Tractor, is an evolutionary planting solution that can increase capacity, minimize soil compaction, and precisely place seed and fertilizer,”

said Kevin Juhl, marketing manager for John Deere.

The planter’s new factory-installed fluid tanks hold up to 600 gallons (2271L) and feature air-bleed and overflow protection. To stretch the time required between fills and to reduce tendering, the capacity of the planter’s seed tanks was increased 30%, to 130 bushels.

Beyond capacity enhancements, tires on the MY22 John Deere 1775NT Planters can be replaced with factory-installed tracks to improve flotation and reduce ground pressure up to 73% (when fully loaded) to 13.3 psi. When half filled, these track-equipped planters can maintain a transport speed of up to 20 mph (32 km/h) for up to two hours if necessary, expediting the time it takes to transport from one location to another. Another available factory-installed option is the premium LED lighting package that helps farmers extend their prime working days well into the night.

“A John Deere ExactRate, the fluid-transfer-equipped planter is designed to work seamlessly with 8RX tractors fitted with ExactRate tractor tanks to provide additional fluid-carrying capacity and to allow you to apply high rates of nitrogen at planting without sacrificing planting efficiency or increasing soil compaction. Multiple independent studies have shown that fertilizer applied at the time of planting provides the best opportunity for plant health, on-time maturity, and increased bushels per acre.”

Juhl said.

An 8RX Tractor with 1,000-gallon (3785L) ExactRate tractor tanks raises the combined tractor and planter liquid capacity to 1,600 gallons (6057L).

“When farmers think about 1,600 gallons being applied at 20 gallons (76L) per acre, it means they could plant up to 80 acres of corn between fills,”

Juhl said.

To plan the planting operation and then monitor the performance of the entire planting solution before, during, and after planting, farmers can use the John Deere Operations Center.

“The Operations Center lets you monitor your farm from anywhere, analyze machine and agronomic data, and share information with your trusted advisors while making decisions. It’s the ultimate planning, monitoring, and analysis tool.”

Juhl said.

In the cab, operators can monitor fertilizer and seed data on the Generation 4 Display. This information is streamed in real-time through a JDLink connection to the Operations Center, where owners and farm managers can monitor the performance of every row-unit. In addition, the Connect Mobile app can be used on a tablet device in or out of the tractor cab to compare planting data with previous years. After harvest, farmers can use the Field Analyzer tool in the Operations Center, or any of the connected software tools, to study seed variety and fertilizer performance.

“Farmers now have a complete package of integrated John Deere equipment and technology to help them plant more acres per day and apply higher rates of fertilizer without sacrificing planting efficiency and while minimizing soil compaction,”

Kinze’s 4905 True Speed planter will debut this spring in 16- and 24-row models, providing corn and soybean farmers with seed placement at speeds from 3 to 12 miles per hour. The high-speed technology, developed by Kinze, enables farmers to double the acres planted in a typical day while maintaining precise singulation and seed spacing. It accommodates various seed shapes and sizes with a quick seed type changeover.

The 2022 expanded True Speed lineup will include:

• A 4905 12R30 configuration, well-suited for smaller operations or as a second planter for smaller fields. All three 4905 planters will also offer increased fertilizer capacity for 2022.
• 31/32R15 split-row and 16R30 configurations of the Kinze 3665, a 15-inch soybean planter for high-residue conditions with the versatility to also plant crops in 30-inch rows.
• 24R30 and 36R20 configurations of the 4705 high-flotation planters for narrow width crops, while also carrying large amounts of seed and fertilizer.
