Evolution Wheel knows how frustrating flat tires and machine downtime can be on the job site. So, they developed a tire specifically to tackle these issues.

Evolution Wheel takes the research and development stage seriously. Their products are put through rigorous testing, to make sure they produce the best tire for the job. The EWRS-AT series is engineered for severe duty applications where longevity, traction, and reliability are the biggest concerns. To do this, they investigated optimizing the tread design.

Skid steer tires often have a wear bar in the center of the tread that provides stability to the small lugs. The problem is that a tire’s wear bar significantly reduces traction when the tire reaches 25%-50% of its life. Evolution Wheel saw this and increased the lugs on the EWRS-AT to 2.5” width and 52/32” wearable tread depth. Increasing the lug’s width and height enables them to eliminate the need for a center wear bar and increase longevity. In addition to a longer life span, it allows for more space between the lugs for better cleanout and traction.

Along with the superior tread design, Evolution Wheel wanted to make sure that the EWRS-AT provided a smooth ride.

They achieved this by incorporating core geometry in the rubber. Core geometry refers to the apertures in the rubber that allow the rubber to flex. The unique geometry of these apertures allows the tire to compress like a pneumatic without the bounce they often have. This makes the tire much more stable when carrying loads.

One of Evolution Wheels’ biggest features on their tires is that they are segmented. The tire segments are bolted onto the rims allowing the operator to easily service the tire. On the off chance, a lug is damaged, the operator can remove that segment and attach another with only a wrench in their back pocket. This will minimize downtime on the job site.

Plus, with 100 bushels of seed capacity (two 50-bushel tanks) and optional individual tank scales, operators can better plan for tendering with the ability to optimize partial seed fill.

Multiple configurations and narrow row planting increase ROI

Studies continue to show the ROI opportunities of narrow row planting, which include increased yield benefits and faster crop canopies for weed control — all while minimizing soil erosion. The 2150S Early Riser front-fold trailing planter lets operators take advantage of these benefits with a range of configurations, including 23, 24, 31, or 32 rows with 15-inch spacing, or 24 rows with 20-inch spacing.

In-cab hydraulic row-unit lift control allows operators to easily convert from 15- to 30-inch spacing with no manual lifting or tools required. When planting in a split-row configuration, an industry-leading row-unit offset of nearly 50 inches helps increase residue flow while minimizing plugging opportunities.

Exceptional ground-following capabilities are made possible by a wing flex of +/- 15 degrees combined with +/- 8 inches of row-unit travel. This ensures the row units remain in contact with soil, even in rugged terrain. Optional hydraulic wing downforce ensures proper seed depth control on the wings, while the agronomically designed Early Riser row unit provides excellent seed placement across the entire planter.

Front-fold design for simple transportation

With a front-fold frame design, the 2150S Early Riser planter delivers a narrow transport width of 13 feet — and a simple on-screen, step-by-step folding-and-unfolding system provides a smooth and quick transition from transport to field operation. Operators also gain in-cab hydraulic control of all rear subframe row units, including the center main frame row units.

A new parabolic shank is now available as an option for all 4835 models. This shank provides more surface disturbance than an MRD shank and will be useful for customers looking to incorporate significant quantities of residue. This new shank is also available with cover boards to promote even more residue incorporation. When cover boards are not fitted, a wear bar is mounted to the face of the shank to provide additional wear life.

A newly developed Minimum Residue Disturbance (MRD) shank is also available for the 4835. This shank is positioned between the no-till and parabolic shank options in terms of residue incorporation and soil disturbance. The new MRD shank utilizes the same wear bar as the no-till shank and the same 7” wing points as the parabolic shank, reducing the number of overall components across the offering for simplified inventory management.

No-till shanks are available for customers requiring the minimum of surface disturbance and residue incorporation. In addition to the ¾” standard duty shank, a 1” version is also offered for customers working in particularly hard conditions.

The 4835 features a newly designed 6” x 6” frame reinforced for additional strength. Gauge wheel adjustment has also been improved so that it is accessible from the rear of the machine without having to reach over the frame. All models feature a 3-point hitch, with 5 shanks and greater models also offering an optional pull hitch with rear lift wheels. Where a pull hitch is fitted, the machine is equipped with single front stabilizer wheels for 530R – 830F models and dual front stabilizer wheels for 930F – 1130F models as standard equipment.

The new 4835 in-line ripper sizes are available for order with first shipments being timed for fall tillage 2022.

“A mud pump is a crucial piece of equipment for ensuring mud rotary drilling efficiency. The feedback we’ve received from trials with this new setup has been outstanding. Crews were drilling noticeably faster than before because the system is providing a better flow of mud into the borehole, so we’ve made the new pump and engine a permanent fixture in our drill lineup,”

said Joe Haynes, president of Little Beaver.

The new pump and engine come standard on the LS200H and LS200H+ hydraulic water well drills and are an optional upgrade for the LS100 and LS200 mechanical water well drills. A 10-horsepower Yanmar L100N diesel option is also available to power the Flomax on the LS200H and LS200H+.

The new Flomax 10 pump paired with the 8-horsepower engine provides 61 psi and 200 gallons of mud flow per minute, an upgrade of nearly 20 psi, and an additional 50 gallons of flow per minute. The Flomax features a 2-by-2-inch inlet and outlet and incorporates tighter tolerances to handle the increased pressure from the larger engine. 

Haynes said the increased pressure allows the new pump setup to not only quickly fill the borehole with a column of mud to remove cuttings more efficiently during drilling but also handles thicker mud than the previous pump system. This provides crews with increased borehole stability as it replaces the dirt removed during drilling.

Lone Star Drills’ LS200H and LS200H+ water well drills are capable of drilling depths of 200 feet, borehole diameters of six inches and pull/push-back forces up to 5,000 pounds. The first drills in the Lone Star hydraulic lineup, the LS200H and LS200H+ feature 2,500- and 3,000-psi hydraulic systems respectively. Both drills can be upgraded with a down-the-hole hammer kit, anchor kit, wheel kit and more.

AGCO is bringing the Fendt 300 Vario Gen4 Series tractors to North America. Because they are built to order and may be fully equipped with the FendtONE operator station like the larger Fendt tractors, these compact and extremely capable workhorses are in a class of their own.

The handy, lightweight tractors will debut at the 2021 Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Illinois, Aug. 31-Sept. 2. The Fendt 300 Gen4 Series tractors will also be featured at select events after the Farm Progress Show. They are available to order through Fendt dealerships for delivery in early 2022.

The Fendt 300 Vario Gen4 tractors are available in four models ranging from 100 to 142 ECE R120 rated engine horsepower, all featuring the quality, comfort, and versatility that Fendt is known for. The 300 Gen4 Series tractors offer an outstanding weight-to-power ratio and the agility to handle a wide range of jobs in places larger tractors can’t go. With an unladen weight of just 11,045 pounds, the 314 model boasts just over 83 pounds per horsepower. Added ballast can bring the weight up to 18,739 pounds when the work at hand calls for more.

These tractors make fast work of residential and municipal snow removal, operating both front and rear attachments. They are designed to handle the continual back and forth of loader work and easily manage tight quarters when stacking hay, cleaning livestock pens and equine facilities, and working in specialty crop fields.

Trailblazing the way for tractors

Fendt 300 Gen4 Series tractors are characterized by the same innovative design and cutting-edge technologies that North American customers already experience in larger Fendt tractors.

The 300 Vario Gen4 Series includes four models: 311 (100 HP), 312 (113 HP), 313 (123 HP) and 314 (132 HP). The Fendt DynamicPerformance (DP) power boost intelligent sensor technology automatically adds 10 HP when it detects excessive auxiliary consumer demand on the 314 models up to 142 HP. This ensures that the 314 will provide maximum drawbar, hydraulic, and PTO performance.

The Vario 300 Gen4 Series includes the 4.4-liter AGCO Power engine that works in unison with the Fendt stepless Vario continuously variable transmission (CVT) for optimum power, fuel efficiency, and machine life.

“The main job of this versatile tractor is to quickly and reliably complete every task before the operator has to swiftly and easily switch over to the next one. The 300 Vario Gen4 tractors are equipped to handle a full range of front and rear implements. Specifically, they are designed to withstand the constant reversing and speed changes required for loader work,”

Soliday says.

Configuring the machine to the job

Besides specialty crop and chore work, Fendt 300 Vario Gen4 Series tractors can also be found hard at work in municipalities mowing and raking, hauling materials around the yard, or – in areas prone to snowstorms – removing snow. Since these tractors fit so many uses, they are offered in the choice of three trim packages – Power, Profi, and Profi+ – and with more than 210 options, so they can be ordered to match the buyer’s needs and use.

“The base configuration – Power – is fairly simple, and while it has the big 10-inch display on the dash, it does not include the 12-inch touchscreen display on the armrest. However, these tractors can be ordered with features all the way up to those that even a 1000 Series would have for precision agriculture, guidance and ISOBUS. All those features are easily added,”

Soliday says.

Comfortable cab, designed for productivity

Operator comfort is an important piece of Fendt’s engineering, and the Fendt 300 Vario tractors are no different. All the operator comfort features Fendt is renowned for can be found on the 300 Vario tractors. In addition to front axle suspension, the 300 Gen4 Series tractors are available with either mechanical or pneumatic cab suspension for a comfortable, quiet ride.

All tractor functions in the cab are located at the operator’s fingertips.

“A multifunction joystick and control buttons are integrated into the armrest, and a 10-inch digital dashboard is built into the steering column,”

Soliday says.

Select Profi+ packages also feature the full FendtONE operator station. The FendtONE cab offers producers more display areas, including a 12-inch touchscreen terminal in the armrest and the option of a second 12-inch touchscreen terminal that can be stowed halfway into the right side of the cab roof. FendtONE also brings operators more control options, including a multi-function joystick to operate hydraulics, loader, and ISOBUS features; the Pushdial controller used to run the display and cabin controls; and color-coded buttons that are laid out in an arc right at the fingertips.

“The FendtONE cab allows each operator to customize the tractor to individual preferences for each chore. The buttons are all color-coded to the functions they control – for example, hydraulic buttons are blue. And, to give operators more flexibility, white buttons on the control panel and joystick can be programmed to control tractor or implement functions based on the operator’s preference,”

Soliday says.

The perfect loading combination

Implement controls are centrally located on the armrest – either in the joystick or integrated into the armrest itself – for easy implementation operation. For example, when operating the loader, the operator’s left hand controls the turn and steer functions, while the right hand operates the Crossgate lever or 3L joystick for the front loader.

Fendt offers two front-loader options. The Fendt Cargo front loader comes in two sizes – the standard 4X75, and the 4X75 compact, which attaches the arm almost four inches closer to the cab to increase stability. The Cargo loader offers a semi-automatic attachment lock that features either a quick-release lever or a hydraulic lock, allowing the operator to push a button in the cab during frequent tool changes to easily switch between buckets, bale grabs, and more.

The Fendt CargoProfi front loader features the latest in smart technology. The loader can weigh its contents with the touch of a button, includes tilt sensors, and offers top and bottom limits for lifting height and tipping angles. It also has a memory function that saves positions and makes frequently repeated jobs easier.

Warranty and customer care

The Fendt Gold Star Customer Care package comes standard with each Fendt tractor. This 36-month/3,000-hour warranty features no deductible, covers all scheduled maintenance, and includes the cost of oil, filters, belts, and maintenance items during the coverage period. Each new tractor also receives five years of Fendt Connect telematics that allows an operator or their dealer to remotely monitor important machine data. In the rare case of a breakdown, Fendt dealers will take care of the parts support, while quickly diagnosing and repairing the problem to get the tractor back in the field or provide a loaner guarantee if it takes more than 48 hours to complete a repair.

AGCO introduces the Fendt 500 Vario Gen3 Series mid-range tractors, which will now include the FendtONE cab and operator station. The Fendt 500 Vario Gen3 Series of highly adaptable, powerful, and productive tractors is available in four models, with engine horsepower ranging from 124 to 163 (107-137 PTO). These tractors are the perfect size for completing chores on livestock and dairy operations, as well as haying, mowing, and light fieldwork.

The innovative FendtONE cab provides a streamlined and efficient work environment, allowing users to customize the operation of the tractor and implements based on their preferences and the work that needs to be done.

The FendtONE cab features up to three large, easy-to-read display screens that show all tractor functions and can store settings for jobs the operator uses most. From the FendtONE cab, operators can customize their tractors to easily move between jobs. For example, they can adapt loader functions to make quick work of moving and stacking big bales and cleaning livestock pens, or they can switch the tractor from mowing to raking to baling – with implement settings already customized and saved in the tractor for each of those jobs.

FendtONE: designed for operator convenience

FendtONE makes it easy for operators to customize their tractors and to create user profiles to save their settings. The display areas can be personalized for each driver, and the workstation includes several assignable buttons that operators can program to control specific tractor or job-based implement functions.

The nearly limitless customization of the Fendt 500 Gen3 Series tractor can be accomplished with the 12-inch LED touchscreen display that connects the operator to all the tractor functions. The touchscreen is mounted on the right-hand FendtONE armrest.

To activate the FendtONE touchscreen, the user presses the launchpad button, located near the push dial. This button functions as the ‘home button on a smartphone and give the operator access to the digital displays for all machine functions. From there, it’s easy to navigate to the guidance system, hydraulics, service and diagnostics, and more. The launchpad also controls other tractor systems including the air conditioning, in-cab entertainment, and the communications system, as well as side-mirror adjustments.

An optional 12-inch display recessed into the roof liner can be pulled down when needed. The two displays are linked and synchronized, providing data in unison, allowing the operator to view up to 12 user-selected panels of information across the two displays. A 10-inch digital dashboard-mounted behind the steering column enables operators to monitor real-time tractor conditions, including RPMs, speed, fuel level, and tractor status.

The controls for the tractor, hitch, and implements are now centrally located at the operator’s fingertips. The ergonomically designed armrest includes color-coded control buttons, a multi-function joystick, 3L joystick, and a push dial controller, all within close reach for greater operator safety and control of the tractor and implements.

“The button controls are color-coded to match their functions, which also appear on the displays in the same color. This makes it easy for operators to quickly associate the colors with specific tasks and functions, so they perform jobs quickly, accurately and with less chance for error,”

Soliday says.

The multifunction joystick controls tractor speed and direction, hydraulic valve operation, powertrain functions, TI Headland, and ISOBUS functions. It includes freely assignable buttons that can be programmed based on the job. The 3L joystick controls front loader operations, hydraulic controls, and ISOBUS controls.

The ideal front-loader tractor

The Fendt 500 Vario Gen3 Series is ideal for livestock producers who need tractors that are versatile and easy to operate. They are ideal for loader work, haymaking, hauling, and towing. And the added live, third-function loader operation, controlled by the 3L joystick, gives customers the ability to use up to three functions at the same time with their Fendt Cargo or CargoProfi front loader, making these tractors even more useful around the entire farming operation.

Working in tandem with the Fendt 500 Vario tractors, the Fendt CargoProfi Loader offers the latest in smart technology features. It includes intelligent built-ins like the memo function, which saves the position settings for loader arms and attachments, as well as the measure-and-tilting sensor systems, which make repetitive jobs easier to complete. Two pressure sensors in the crossbeam measure and track loader weight. The CargoProfi also has a shaking function to empty the bucket completely.

Continuing the Fendt tradition of offering more horsepower in smaller packages, the Fendt 500 Vario Gen3 Series transitions easily from front loader work on the farm to fieldwork. The four models in the 500 Vario Series ‒ 512 (124 HP), 513 (133 HP), 514 (150 HP), and 516 (163 HP) ‒ provide an ideal power range for chores around livestock or dairy operations and mid-size grain farms.

The Fendt 500 Vario’s powerful 4-cylinder DEUTZ engine with a 4.04-liter cubic capacity and common rail injection ensures efficient fuel consumption. A selective catalytic reduction (SCR) exhaust after-treatment follows combustion to ensure the tractor meets the latest emission standards. Working seamlessly with the engine is the stepless Fendt Vario continuously variable transmission (CVT), which was pioneered by Fendt. The next-generation PLM Intelligence is a new electronic architecture that will be adopted in all New Holland’s next-generation equipment so that customers will find the same logic when switching machines and easily access data to get the job done more efficiently. This is part of New Holland’s strategy to integrate digital technologies to deliver smart and connected agriculture, with easy-to-use solutions that make farming more sustainable and productive.

They include the traditional precision farming applications aimed at making the operator’s life easier while optimizing yield and input costs; solutions based on connectivity and monitoring focused on improving the machine’s productivity, and cloud-based solutions based on data analysis and planning to facilitate farm management decisions.

Through the MyNewHolland App, customers can register their machine and retrieve its technical information, and access the MyPLMConnect portal, where they can manage their fleet and farm data in a single environment. The MyPLMConnect system enables them to receive dynamic information in real-time from individual machines at work in the field and analyze the data to make informed decisions.

New Holland is also introducing the new PLM Cygnus receiver, which is core to the enhanced auto-guidance architecture on its tractors featuring PLM Intelligence. It provides reliable position, compensating for terrain variations, and helps acquire guidance lines very quickly, delivering accurate and reliable guidance. The receiver also supports New Holland’s satellite-based correction sources, in addition to the highly accurate RTK correction distributed through the brand’s PLM RTK+ network.

New Holland’s advanced connectivity also helps customers minimize downtime. The machine is connected to the farmer and the dealer, who can monitor the location and status of the registered connected units. They are able to conduct remote diagnostics via the New Holland Remote Assistance tool as well as supporting the operator in the cab with the IntelliView Connect feature which enables them to share screen sessions.

The T7 HD with PLM Intelligence will be on display at the Farm Progress Show from August 31, 2021, to September 2, 2021, in Decatur, Illinois.

2022 models feature the improved TA22 transmission by Cat. This powershift transmission has less restrictive torque protection in lower gears, a more consistent inching pedal, and increased torque ratings. The clutch capacity has also increased which results in 3% more torque in 3rd gear, 5% more torque in 4th gear, and 10% more torque in 5th gear.

An advanced hydraulic configuration with center located connections, six hydraulic couplers, one ¾ coupler, and a case drain will be included on all new units. Optional features include Power Beyond, two additional ¾ couplers, dual case drains, and a high-flow hydraulic system. This flexible and robust setup puts farmers in control of implement options, specifically enhancing the performance of air drills on Versatile tractors.

All DeltaTrack and four-wheel drive and models include multiple cab improvements. The tractors feature a more comfortable seat, audio system enhancements, and an available 12” monitor. Additional options include dual rotary beacons, cell phone holders, and toolboxes. New LED lighting packages feature almost three times more lumens on the Deluxe Package (than the standard), and more than four times the lumens on the Deluxe Plus Package, which includes 21 lights producing more than 45,000 lumens total. These superior lighting systems allow for longer hours, less fatigue, and better visibility.

An updated decal design and color scheme changes give the tractors a modern and aggressive appearance. The most notable change is the black frame. Versatile’s model year 2022 tractors have been designed to combine power, comfort, and style.

Production of the model year 2022 tractors begins this fall and are available for order now from Versatile dealers. Preview showings are scheduled for the Farm Progress Show (Decatur, Illinois) and Agri-Trade (Red Deer, Alberta).

A farmer from Grande Prairie, Alta., was tired of climbing in and out of his tractor to engage and disengage the power take-off while bagging and extracting grain, so he built a remote-controlled device to make these jobs easier.

“It goes into the cubbyhole and then attaches to the screw points the little padded cushion attaches to. You have two actuators that can pull two different hydraulics, and then there’s the PTO mechanism that controls this switch on and off, and the RPM dial,”

said Vincent Pawluski, owner of RcFarmArm.

He went to great lengths to design the remote-controlled device in a way that wouldn’t threaten his tractor’s warranty.

“This is purposely built to get around the CAN bus systems because when you start tying into CAN bus systems if there is ever a problem on the CAN bus side, or error codes, the last guy that touched it is the guy who gets in trouble. That’s just how it works,”

Pawluski said.

“John Deere will blame me if there is something messed up in the CAN bus, whether it is my fault or not, because I’m the third party guy.”

He said the RcFarmArm engages all the control surfaces just like a human finger does, so the equipment manufacturers can’t argue the tractor isn’t being controlled the way it was intended to be.

“We’re not really hacking into anything, and it installs in like five minutes,”

Pawluski said.

The RcFarmArm draws power from a standard accessory power point in the tractor, and it also has a backup 12-volt battery that can be used to power the arm if it gets disconnected from the tractor’s power.

The system can also be used to control six customizable functions, and to turn the tractor on or off.

“A second module that fits over the top of the key, and it turns the key with two actuators, one to turn it on and a second one to turn the key to start it. There’s an E (emergency) stop on the arm and an Estop on the remotes. It brings all the actuators back to their off positions, which will turn the key on the tractor off,”

Pawluski explained.

So far, he has built an arm that fits the 8000 and 9000 John Deere tractors, as well as the 7000 series if they have the full armrest with fingertip hydraulic controls.

He also is developing a model for the John Deere R series.

For the Case tractors, he has a model that fits the 2011 to 2020 tractors, in the Maximums, Quadtrac, and Pumas series.

For the applications for which Pawluski built the RcFarmArm, bagging and extracting grain, the tractor is not put in gear because the pressure of the auger pushes the tractor when bagging, and the plastic pulls the tractor when extracting.

However, he is building a steering module that will be able to move the steering wheel to help keep everything straight.

On the remote, there are six indicator lights that visually alert the operator as to which functions are on.

“We have it set up that you need to press two buttons on the remote to start the PTO, and the two buttons are as far apart as possible on the remote. So you pretty much need two hands to start the PTO and to engage the starter of the tractor. So hopefully, there would be very little chance of accidental engagement of the PTO or the starter.”

Operators can still drive the tractor when the arm is installed.

“The gear shift is left accessible, and in the final design we have one remote that is attached to the armrest, so that should stay in the tractor at all times because otherwise, you would have to remove the key-switch module to start the tractor,”

Pawluski said.

The third hydraulic control on the tractor is also accessible because it is not connected to the RcFarmArm, and the tractor’s RPM can be controlled with the foot control.

“The starter system and the arm we’re going to be selling for right around $5,000, and then the price on the optional steering control motor is yet to be determined,”

Pawluski said.
