From March 2022, the Lemken Heliodor compact disc harrow will be available with a preparation set for attaching a Vogelsang DosiMat DMX precision spreader. The resulting powerful combination of two proven implements is ideal for the precise low-loss spreading and incorporation of liquid organic fertilizers such as slurry.

The Heliodor offers a sound basis for this type of application, as it is compact and low-draught and therefore only places little additional demands on the tractor’s lifting and traction powers. The DosiMat DMX is renowned for its very even transverse and longitudinal distribution, which is consistently maintained even at extremely low and extremely high application rates.

The way the two implements work together is very simple: Slurry is fed into the DosiMat from above, homogenized inside the device by a flow-optimized rotor equipped with cutting blades, and then pushed into the individual outlets. Fiber and foreign matter are reliably shredded in the process – this enables the desired precise distribution and helps to avoid disruptive blockages. The slurry then passes via hoses to the area behind the first row of discs on the Heliodor, where it is injected into the soil and immediately incorporated by the second row of discs and the trailing roller without any delay.

In terms of economy, the Heliodor/DosiMat duo is exactly in line with current trends. With rising prices for mineral fertilizers, many farmers want to utilize the nutrients stored in their slurry. This is achieved through precise application and immediate incorporation while minimizing nitrogen losses, making the process not only extremely economical but also compliant with water protection requirements.

An optimal seedbed with a load-bearing seed horizon where the seeds can be embedded at an even depth over the whole area of the field is the basis for high field emergence and thus for high yields.

It requires an unbroken association between the seed horizon and the capillary water-conducting lower layer to ensure germination in the absence of rainfall. Power harrows have long since become typical combination machines because they are largely independent of the soil conditions. On heavy soils, it reaches an intensive crumbling. Under light conditions, it can work flat and at a lower rotor speed. The sets of tines rotate on vertical axles for fully horizontal tillage of the soil – no inversion of soil layers and no vertical compression leading to hardpan formation. Degelman Industries LP and John Deere Company announce that they have reached an OEM Agreement to provide a line of heavy harrows designed for small grains farmers. This gives the John Deere dealer network a powerful new tool for managing heavy residue, controlling weeds and volunteer plants, and for warming the soil ahead of spring seeding.

Three heavy harrow models will be available and include the HH50, HH70, and HH82 set up in 5 or 7-row configurations with 50-, 70-, and 82-foot working widths respectively. In the field, the heavy harrow can be operated up to 12 mph. The harrow’s robust torsion bar design hugs the contour of the field while keeping consistent down pressure moving across rolling terrain to effectively shatter and evenly distribute straw residue and move the soil.

The harrow’s quick folding and unfolding sequence can help farmers move more quickly between fields. Easy to reach service points, and exclusive long-life carbide-tipped tines keep maintenance requirements to a minimum.

While John Deere dealers will have access to this new line of harrows, Degelman will continue to manufacture, market, and promote the Strawmaster 7000 series of heavy harrows to our authorized Degelman Dealer network as we have for the past 27+ years.

In addition to the 7000 series, Degelman will continue to exclusively offer the Strawmaster Pro high-performance field conditioner, Strawmaster+ high-performance harrow, and Strawmaster X disc harrow to their entire dealer network.

There is no need to think about operating costs anymore, since Ducat-8 has no lubrication points, even on hydraulic cylinder joints. All moving mechanisms of the harrow are equipped with plain bearings made of high-strength wear-resistant polymers. Application of reinforcing materials and special lubricants reduces friction and completely eliminates the lubrication of structures throughout the entire service life of the harrow.
