Electric GUSS uses a combination of GPS, LiDAR, and proprietary technology for accurate coverage and allows a single employee to operate and monitor a combination of up to eight GUSS machines from the safety of his or her vehicle using a laptop computer.

The spot-spraying weed detection system identifies chlorophyll in the weeds and only sprays where weeds are detected. Steiger 715 Quadtrac

Case IH’s largest and most powerful tractor ever produced, the Steiger 715 Quadtrac delivers built-in power and speed to cover more ground in less time. The purpose-built 715 horsepower-rated, 778 peak horsepower FPT Cursor 16L engine sets a new bar for performance in the most demanding applications.

This newest Steiger model introduces the new heavy-duty Quadtrac undercarriage that offers increased traction to keep up with the engine’s horsepower. Steiger Model Year 2024 Line-Up

AFS Furrow Command

Introduced in 2023, Case IH’s AFS Furrow Command improves overall seed and fertilizer depth control by automatically adjusting the hydraulic pressure independently for each frame section. Available on the Precision Disk 550T, 550 and 500DS models, AFS Furrow Command helps make informed decisions on setting downforce via gauge wheel sensors that provide real-time in-cab feedback.

Not only does this automatic control greatly reduce wear and tear on equipment through the minimization of unnecessary and excessive downforce in conditions that don’t require maximum hydraulic pressure, but also greatly improves operational flexibility through automation, no longer requiring manual adjustments from an operator in the cab.

Toolbar Lift System for 2120 Early Riser Rigid Trailing Planter

The toolbar lift system consists of two unique parallel link assemblies actuated by two hydraulic cylinders, supporting two storage positions, a plant position, and a new transport position that provides industry-leading ground clearance in transport for a rigid trailing split-row planter, with a stable ride provided by the positive tongue weight.

Adjusting downforce automatically

The aim is to make emergence more uniform and to optimize the technical equipment. One example of this is the DeltaForce automatic down-force system, which measures and regulates the down-force row by row and several times per second to ensure optimum placement depth and root development. A fixed down-force setting is rarely suitable for all conditions of a field, as many farm areas are heterogeneous. Management is therefore a balancing act between “not too much and not too little”. Too little downforce causes shallower placed seeds and late germination. Too much on the other hand, leads to compaction and poor root development – both of which cost yields. To ensure that the down force setting is suitable for all areas, it is first measured and then adjusted accordingly. The automatic DeltaForce downforce system was developed for this purpose. It measures and regulates the downforce during sowing, row by row and several times per second. The system detects, visualizes and adjusts machine settings in real time based on the data collected. Depending on the conditions, the individual units can be pressurized or raised individually. This minimizes the risk and lays the foundation for uniform field emergence.

Rethinking sampling

Reliable soil data is essential. There are many different soil scanners, but they often deliver different results. Therefore, wet chemical soil analysis is still necessary, be it just to calibrate the scanner methods, drone or satellite data. A cost-effective, standardized laboratory method that allows a high number of samples per hectare would give precision agriculture a boost in this respect.

With Radicle Agronomics, a system is now available that combines planning, sampling, analysis and the entire logistics of soil sampling. There is no need to create labels and label soil bags. All this is done automatically in the field while GeoPress fills the GeoTubes with the collected soil. With the help of RFID technology, each sample container, a so-called tube, is provided with the coordinates and the data required for further processing in the laboratory. For customers who prefer stepless transmissions for infinite speed control and ease of drivability, the new EVT will be available for all 410-horsepower 8 Series Tractors including 8R, 8RT, and 8RX models.

As farmers look to the future, the EVT will likely be the transmission of choice for customers going forward according to Jardon.

“In the future, EVT-equipped 8 Series Tractors, will optionally feature electric power generation capacity of offboarding electricity to power implements. This EVT is the industry’s only transmission that enables electric power generation (up to 100kW). By using this electricity farmers could power implement fan drives, take the place of implement hydraulic pumps, or assist the tractor by powering the implement’s axles. This is similar, to the proven technology John Deere currently uses, on construction equipment.”

Jardon said.

Agricultural implements with powered axles are already successfully used in Europe to help push the tractor from behind while working in the field.

“EVT technology offboards electricity from the tractor to provide added power to the implement and can reduce wheel slip, improve up-hill performance, and enables the tractor to pull wide implements without the need for extra ballast or a larger tractor,”

Jardon said.

For MY 23, John Deere 9R 640 and 9RX 640 Tractors will now also be powered by the all-new, completely redesigned JD14X diesel engine producing 640-rated horsepower. MY 22 390- to 590-horsepower 9 Series Tractors also use this engine across the entire lineup of 9 Series Tractors, including the 640-horsepower models. Based on internal testing, the JD14X engine in 9R 640 and 9RX 640 Tractors uses 7% less fuel than previous models.

“These new engines were built for outstanding performance, greater reliability and we have made them easier to access and service. The engine features a 500-hour oil change interval, hydraulic fan drive, and a high-pressure common-rail fuel delivery system for increased fuel atomization, efficiency, and power, along with faster start times. Customers told us they appreciate the lugging capabilities the new engine has brought to their 9 Series Tractors.”

Jain announced that its Water Management Services, where Jain consultants deliver weekly irrigation schedules to growers based on satellite imagery, hyperlocal weather, and machine learning analysis of soil moisture content and water infiltration properties, has won the Irrigation Association 2021 New Product Contest Award in the Specialty Agriculture Irrigation category.

This year’s contest was a hybrid event combining virtual and live elements. Products were evaluated based on innovation, design quality, increased water/resource-use efficiency, ease of use, and product life expectancy. Contest judges are experienced professionals with technical knowledge and industry expertise. Official judging was conducted via Zoom Nov. 17-18, with winners announced live on the Irrigation Show floor on December 9.

Winning in the Specialty Agriculture Irrigation category, JAIN Water Management Services was honored for its highly integrated offering of agtech software, hardware, and consulting services that generate intelligent irrigation schedules; featuring the first-of-its-kind utilization of high-resolution satellite imaging for ETc (crop water consumption), real-time local weather and soil moisture sensing in the field, bundled together with Machine Learning toward providing unprecedented precision in the management of when and how long each crop irrigation event needs to last.

The newly refined Claas PICK UP head, designed for the JAGUAR forage harvester, features a variable, independent drive of the intake auger and pick-up reel that reduces fuel costs and improves pickup capacity.

The redesigned header takes an existing pickup reel and adds a new hydraulic drive, giving it greater adaptability in the field. This allows the pickup reel to be adjusted automatically to the ground speed to match the harvest conditions in the field and the auger speed adjusted automatically to the feed roll speed. In challenging harvest conditions, both speeds can be adjusted manually from the cab, allowing even more accurate crop feeding and consistent crop flow overall.

In order to operate with the dual variable speed header concept, the JAGUAR forage harvester is equipped with an optional dual hydraulic drive, which performs particularly well with the PICKUP. The mechanical drive remains the standard drive option.

While the dual variable speed header drive is designed specifically for use with JAGUAR 502 or 499 models, kits are available to fit other models.

New Low-Voltage, High-Efficiency Motor

Dana has launched a new 48- to 120/144-volt synchronous reluctance internal permanent magnet (SRIPM) motor targeted for Class I electric lift trucks, sideloaders, and mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs). Delivering up to 95 percent efficiency, the motor prolongs battery life and extends duty cycles by delivering higher power density than the AC motors typically used in these applications.

Currently available for field testing by equipment manufacturers, the motor offers continuous power from 20 kW to 60 kW, and peak power from 30 kW to 70 kW. It is scheduled for production in late 2020.

The new motor joins the wide breadth of technologies from Dana that allow manufacturers to address the specific performance, power, torque, and NVH requirements of any given material-handling application. Dana offers low- and high-voltage solutions including SRIPM, synchronous reluctance (SR), internal permanent magnet (IPM), and AC induction motors.

The motors can be combined with Dana’s inverter, controller, software, and drive products to deliver a comprehensive system solution for original-equipment manufacturers.

Spicer 141 Axle

Designed for Class I, IV, and V industrial lift trucks, the Spicer 141 axle is a scalable, modular platform built for heavy loads while offering durability, reliability, and ease of maintenance.
