The four smallest models, the G1100 and G1200 and their tele-versions, have been constantly optimised in recent years. Lots of new extra options for these machines are also now available.

Since their appearance some years ago, the smallest members of the Tobroco-Giant wheel loader family became very popular not only in construction, but also with companies working in landscaping and gardening.

In a time when well-trained employees are scarce while work and deadlines create more and more pressure, the importance of having a versatile and compact motorised helper has considerably increased. At the same time, it is also very important to improve the working conditions for employees. This enables them to manage the great variety of different duties in a safe and healthy manner.

For this reason, today many tasks, such as delivering of material within the building site, minor transporting and excavating tasks, which have been done by hand for a long time, are now delegated to compact machines. They have to be able not only to work within limited space while providing a high performance, but simultaneously they must be transported easily from one site to the next and be deployable for a lot of different purposes.

Small weight – great flexibility

With a service weight of only 1.100 kg for the G1100 and G1200 and 1.200 kg for the G1100 TELE and G1200 TELE the compact machine are easily and quickly transported on a common car trailer from one working site to the next. The attachments, playing their role in the incredible versatility of the machine, can also be put on the trailer with no trouble at all. All the same the smallest Giants really live up to their name “Giant Ant”, because they are able to almost lift their own weight. The tele-versions of the two models still offer a lifting capacity of 750 kg.

The small powerhouses are driven by four strong Poclain wheel engines, which provide surprisingly high push and pull forces and are known to be really low maintainance. Due to the hydrostatic four wheel drive with automotive control, the wheel loaders show very comfortable driving characteristics. The electrically controlled slip differential makes sure all four wheels stay safely on the ground all the time. To change between forward and backward is made very easy with an electrical switch.

The flexibility of the machines is based on the right range of attachments. Tobroco-Giant has a team of engineers who are specialized on attachments, they are focused on developing new and improving existing attachments. This is reflected in the complete line of attachments for the G1100 and G1200 models. Whether it is a sweeper, tree grab or soil bucket, the GIANT attachments are specifically designed for these machines and guarantee the best performance and efficiency.

A lot of optimising

Even when the machines haven’t changed a lot from the outside, there have been made quite a few technical changes on them: The engines (20hp for the G1100 and 25 hp for G1200) are now Stage V engines according to international standard. As well there are protective plates on the bottom and on the front on the machine to protect it against damage by branches, rocks, etc.

To make transport and the lifting of the machine easier there are now lifting eyes provided. This way, it can be tightly fixed on the trailer and transported to its destination and, if necessary, easily lifted over a wall. The machine can be supplied with narrowed mudguards making it even more narrow and to go 87,5 cm literally through every door.

New options available for more individual adaption

Now there are – apart from the above mentioned changes of the standard model – more options for G1100 and G1200 (Tele) available. For a more comfortable way of working there is a mechanically suspended seat including safety belt, armrest and backrest on offer. Furthermore, there is a transport securing device so you can block the arm in all directions by just pressing a button. Another option is the hose rupture protection in combination with floating position and transport securing device. As well, it is possible to order the machines with road specification from the factory.

Exclusively for the G1200 and the G1200 Tele there are two extra options: Either the HD driving mechanism or a higher driving speed (up to 19 km/h) can be chosen. HD stands for “Heavy Duty” and provides 45% more pulling force than the standard version. A higher driving speed makes a lot of sense if material must be loaded, unloaded or transported over longer distances.

A lot of arguments for the “little ones”

With the help of the new details, the two models offer even more comfort in handling the machine and can even more reliably when taking over different tasks in construction, landscaping and gardening be it lifting, transporting, loading, digging or cleaning, there are nearly no limits.

In addition, the two tele-versions load can load great heights or store and fetch material from high rise racks. Compared to their service weight, they life an impressive amount. Due to their small weight, can also they work without damaging the surface. Smaller machines also have the added benefit of lifting in remote places like inside buildings or internal courtyards that are impassable for normal machines.

Richard has been farming for about 20 years in the region. The Waikato region had the largest share of dairy cows in New Zealandnat 22.4%. Indeed, the Waikato climate which tends to have warm, humid summers and mild winters is particularly suited for dairy farming with a good average grass growth rate.

Richard’s 220 dairy cows are milked on a once-a-day (OAD) system. This milking regime relatively common in New Zealand, used either as the overall farming system or tactically as a short-term response to adverse seasonal conditions.

Richard has owned another brand of bale feeder in the past, but there were a lot of moving parts and he broke the chain several times. He got tired of having to spend time in the workshop or at his dealer’s to fix the machine. So, he recently bought a Unrolla LM105 mounted bale feeder from his local Hustler dealer, Power Farming Morrinsville.

“I changed to Hustler because my other bale feeder had a lot more moving parts and would break chains fairly frequently.”

Richard has already adopted his new Hustler bale feeder, which was very easy to get to grips with. He is delighted with it, noting that it is robust and has far fewer moving parts. Richard only needs to grease the four nipples of the self-aligning, fully sealed block bearings to maintain his machine.

“The Hustler brand seems to have a lot less moving parts, (and) just seems very robust.”

Richard particularly likes the time-savers that come as standard on the machine. For instance, the unequal length tynes are a handy feature for quick and easy alignment when reconnecting the cradle, even on uneven ground.

“It just makes it so much easier to back the tractor and to hook up the buggy part of the bale feeder,”

Richard explained.

“Previously, I used to have to come on on a bit of an angle with my old bale feeder that forks were the same length.”

With a 100% hydraulic system, there’s not much that can go wrong with this unrollabale feeder. Moreover, the drive system is very simple: the hydraulic motor is located on the headstock and drives a pin that connects to the drive shaft when reconnecting the cradle to the headstock.

Investing in a Hustler bale feeder was also about additional peace of mind for Richard. It is a machine with a very robust chassis that is built to last.

Less unplanned stops

The chain tensioning of the Constant Cut function is improved, this reduces expensive downtime for the contractor. Another advantage of a better and smoother chain tensioning is that both chain and saw bar can be used longer.

The saw bar mount has a more robust design for increased service-life. The mechanics around these components have been optimised to ensure that the saw bar is more stable inside the saw box.

“Customers who have tested the new cutting unit feel that they get a straighter cut, and that the saw bar does not sway as much. Another advantage is that the chain lubrication has improved, as the oil is better steered into the lubrication groove and out to the bar. Better chain lubrication also extends the life of the saw bar,”

explains Tobias Ettemo.

Better protection and stronger material

A new protective cover has been introduced for the auto-release feature, which protects the saw bar mount from sawdust and debris. This means that when changing the chain, the operator does not have to clean the saw bar mount and the saw bar clamp as often as before, thereby reducing downtime.

Several components of the cutting unit have been upgraded with a stronger and more durable material, which increases the service-life of the entire cutting unit.

The bearing between the swivel housing and the saw motor has a better fit to reduce unwanted movements, providing a more stable cutting unit and also less abrasion on the swivel seals. The material in the swivel seals has been replaced with one that is more flexible during movement and less sensitive to abrasion reducing the risk of oil leakage. The new swivel seals are also much easier to install as they do not damage as easily when installed. In addition, no special tool is needed to change them which facilitates service in the field.

Forestry mulchers are now being increasingly employed to clear and fell trees affected by harmful parasites that are becoming more widespread, infesting woods and forests all over the world. A race against time, which calls for increasingly powerful tractors and machines, where medium-power mulchers are replaced by upgraded versions.

This means greater productivity, improved efficiency and reduced working times. In this line of work, however, it is not just a question of first-class performance. The working conditions are very demanding and stones and earth are also found along with the huge piles of material.

This, combined with the climate conditions, are all factors that affect the life of the machine.

Seppi M. offers a solution. The answer comes  from customers: Seppi M. R&D department to develop an upgrade of the MaxiForst high-power forestry mulcher.

This resulted in the second generation Maxiforst

A completely new machine with a new design too, which combines the much-appreciated features of cutting quality, reliability and ease of use, showcased in the previous Maxiforst version, with the latest technology and solutions developed over the years, thus taking the new Maxiforst to a whole new level.

The new machine is designed to be used on PTO tractors with a power range from 300 to 500 HP, focusing on the key features of maximum wear resistance, optimal protection of the transmission of both the tractor and the machine, quality and high working speed, cutting-edge technology and operator safety.

Wear resistance is guaranteed by the high-quality steel construction, with the addition of HARDOX plates in the grinding unit, which can be easily replaced at the end of their life, a feature already widely adopted in the stone crushing machines.

The sturdy steel skids now also have an interchangeable wear plate, so it will no longer be necessary to change the whole skid or lose time restoring it by welding with a filler.

The transmission has been completely revamped. The central box has the Adam alignment system as standard supply, while the transmission of motion to the rotor is guaranteed by the tried and tested system with six V-belts on each side. The machine can also be fitted (optional) with the new starting system with M-TURBO fluid couplings, which replace the previous system with mechanical centrifugal clutches, and guarantee a smooth start of the rotor and greater protection from impacts on the tractor’s PTO, as well as greater reliability. New optimized ventilation is also included, which, combined with the integrated cooling system, protects the entire system from overheating, thus ensuring maximum lubrication and sealing performance of the components. The temperature can be kept controlled directly from the tractor, using Isobus technology, which is available as an option.

The speed and quality of the cut are guaranteed by the rotor featuring the patented V-Lock tool mounting system. The benefits of this system are: reduced rotor wear, better balance, easier and faster tool changeover, cutting capacity for trees up to 60cm in diameter, and the mounting of heavy-duty wear-resistant tools with tungsten carbide insert and more slender tips, which in combination with the five rows of tempered counter knives on the frame, offer a finer and more uniform mulching performance.

On Isobus-compatible tractors, the Isobus socket of the mulcher is connected to the tractor and some functions are controlled or monitored directly on the on-board computer in the tractor or excavator cab.

• Gearboxes temperature
• Rotor rotation speed (connected to the 2Speed gear of the 2-speed forestry tiller), so that the speed can be changed directly via the terminal in the tractor

This exchange of data and information between tractors and tools is becoming increasingly popular. With all data shown on a single display, a continuous and precise control of the machine makes handling easier, avoids breakdowns, lowers fuel consumption, and increases working speed.

In Seppi M. this system is already in use on many forestry tillers (Starsoil, Maxisoil), but Isobus is also part of the standard version of the SBM boom mounted mulcher.

AutoPath uses guidance lines from previous passes, such as planting, to automatically set hands-free navigation in the field and eliminates guess rows at harvest, regardless of equipment width.

A new LED lighting package offers additional forward-facing lights to brighten areas in front of and behind the combine and illuminate the grain tank, row finder, engine and service access areas, and the unloading auger.

The optional factory-installed flat-tooth comb chaffer can make the combine easier to set in canola and lower tailings in weedy harvesting conditions.

For customers who need to chop tough straw into fine pieces or possibly eliminate a harrow pass in the field, a new extra-fine cut chopper is available for select models of S Series Combines. Customers can now add an optional grease line for final drive zerks to make servicing them more convenient. This simple system can help ensure regular maintenance is completed and uptime is maximized.

For small grains growers who need to harvest pulses in their crop rotations, John Deere now offers the robust Kondex all-crop concave configuration. The Kondex concave is ideal for high-speed harvesting as it maximizes material-on-material threshing to keep the rotor full while moving through the field.
Also new in MY22 are updates to the John Deere front-end equipment offerings. These updates include:

• A new flexible cutterbar on Hinged Drapers (HDF).
• The release of the eight-row Folding Corn Head (C8F).
• Wing leveling on Hinged Drapers.
• Integrated transport on Hinged Drapers.

HDF Drapers are available in 35- to 50-foot working widths and feature the same wing range of the rigid-cutterbar drapers (HDR), but with the addition of a flexible cutterbar to closely follow the ground.

“The HDF is the ultimate solution for on-ground cutting of crops,”

Gherardini said.

The narrow profile of the new C8F 8-row Folding Corn Head improves transport logistics.

Wing leveling on Hinged Drapers allows the user to set a “home” position for the draper. When set, the draper returns to that position when lifting on headlands and improves harvesting efficiency. The header can be set to lift to in a smile shape or a flat/neutral position. Wing leveling helps the draper clear debris or obstacles that may be encountered during harvest.

Integrated transport is a new feature of John Deere Hinged Drapers that improves harvest logistics for customers and ensures the draper is always close to the combine when transporting between fields. Integrated transport enables the header gauge wheels to convert into “transport mode” so it can be easily pulled from field to field.

Thanks to the 3.4-litre, 4-cylinder and 8-valve FPT F34 Turbo intercooler engine with Common Rail electronic injection, the 75 Hp available guarantee excellent traction and high elasticity, enhanced by a torque of 375 Nm at 1,400 rpm, a performance normally seen from 100hp tractors. X5.085 is Stage V approved, and uses EGR, DOC and DPF technology without SCR and without urea, this allowing a simple system installation in compliance with anti-pollution regulations whilst guaranteeing lower maintenance and operating costs.

Power and technology enhanced by versatility. Fitting as standard the 34” rear wheel, which not only guarantees increased ground clearance, but also improved traction that, combined with the excellent weight-power ratio (48kg/Hp), make the McCormick X5.085 suitable for transport also in mountain and hilly areas.

The coupling with the M15 front loader controlled by a new dedicated ergonomic joystick is also an excellent new feature. The loader is designed so that its frame does not reduce ground clearance or limit the steering angle range of the tractor. It also works in a linear and even manner thanks to the suspension with two nitrogen-charged accumulators placed between the cylinders.

The front axle is compact in size, thanks to the 1590mm interflange, which makes the tractor neat and agile. Its sturdy construction makes it reliable and stable whatever the work, from the use of the front lifting system to the front loader and transport activities in fields and on the road.

Its power and agility are also enhanced by the category 2 mechanically-controlled rear lifting system with a capacity of 3,900 kg, which is precise and easy to use thanks to the ELS system (ergonomic lift system). The attachment of implements is quick and easy, as the controls are found both in the cab and on the fender. A 1,700 kg category 2 front lift system is also available as a further option.

The dual pump hydraulic circuit provides exceptionally efficient management of the five hydraulic spool valves (three rear and two mid-mount) and the implements thanks to a pump flanged to the engine with a dedicated flow rate of 56 l/min, while 32 are directed to the steering system.

Finally, in line with the reputation of the brand, attention to driver comfort is also at the top of the list. In this case, the 4-post cab maximises the 360-degree all-round view and absorbs vibration thanks to four silent block suspensions, creating a protected working environment and impeccable sound insulation. The controls are also ergonomically arranged: a new concept joystick provides quick and easy control of transmission functions such as Hi-Lo and H-M-L, as well as the front loader with regard to automatic release, third and fourth functions. The steering wheel is adjustable in height and depth. The roof is lowered for easy entry into tight spaces and it also has a transparent roof hatch.

Road safety is guaranteed by the IBS (Integrated Brake System) system, which combines the rear brakes with the front oil-cooled brakes integrated within the axle, reducing the braking distance by 50%. The brakes engage in proportion to the effort applied to the pedals, allowing absolute braking accuracy.

To conclude, McCormick X5.085 is also designed to house the McCormick Fleet Management telematics monitoring system, to evaluate the efficiency of the tractor by measuring fuel consumption, working hours and scheduled maintenance.

A large-tractor feature making its way to the 5M Series through a built-in display on the tractor dash is integrated AutoTrac guidance. This factory-installed option is only available for 5M Tractors equipped with PowrQuad transmissions.

AutoTrac provides straight-line guidance to help operators reduce implement overlap, make fewer passes through the field, decrease fatigue, and save fuel.

“No other utility tractor on the market offers this level of integrated guidance on a mid-spec utility tractor, making the productivity potential of the 5M Series unmatched,”

Greg Christensen, marketing manager for John Deere said.

“This low-cost, entry-level guidance system, can later be upgraded by plugging in a premium display for mapping and prescription-based applications.”

Christensen says customers are looking for updated transmission options to make tractor operation easy.

“Now, John Deere makes the PowrQuad transmissions available on the 5090M, 5100M, 5115M cab versions and includes it in base equipment on the newly added 125-horsepower 5125M, which is only available with a cab. PowrQuad transmissions make it easy for operators to find the right speed with clutchless, push-button shifting between gears, allowing them to focus on their work.”

John Deere also increased the hitch-lift capacity on 5M Tractors equipped with PowrQuad transmissions to better handle large implements and offers an optional panoramic roof for improved visibility from the cab. These features are especially beneficial when lifting and moving large objects such as hay bales and can increase operator productivity.

Additionally, the John Deere Smart Connector, available as a parts kit, is compatible with select 5 Series Tractors. The Smart Connector is an entry-level connectivity solution that makes it easy for customers who are not using their tractor in a production setting to monitor their tractor through a Bluetooth connection that sends them data so they can track maintenance intervals and tractor performance. Information from Smart Connector is accessed through the TractorPlus app from a mobile device.

Mark is thrilled to have chosen a Hustler Applic8r mounted boom sprayer a few months ago and thinks it’s a “wonderful machine”. Mark farms on 5,500 effective hectares with about 46,000 stock units comprised of sheep, cattle and deer.

Mark was looking for a versatile and compact mounted boom sprayer that would handle a large variety of applications, from fertiliser to herbicide and insecticide on both crops and grass paddocks. He explains that with the Hustler Applic8r LX1150,

“we can use it all through this machine. All around, it’s just a good machine to use, for everything.”

Mark detailed.
