Canadian dealer’s new facility to feature AGCO’s modern Galvanize design concept for engaging customer experiences.

AGCO and SA Service Agricole announced last month the construction of the dealer’s new facility in Sainte-Marie, Quebec. The expansion will leverage AGCO’s cutting-edge Galvanize design concept to highlight AGCO’s engaging Fendt Customer Support Center model, provide a greater workspace for staff members and convey a modern, professional and inviting experience for customers. Construction on the new 40,000-square-foot building began in May and is expected to be completed for a grand opening in November 2021.

Service Agricole (SA) is one of AGCO’s rapidly growing dealerships and is among the largest of its North American Fendt sales and service providers. SA consists of five locations across Canada’s farm-rich Quebec province and has served the area’s farmers since 1974. The existing Sainte-Marie location was acquired in 2015, and its significant growth has been accommodated by multiple buildings that currently house its sales, service, parts, administrative and other teams.

The new facility, which will be located at 1160 Rue 2 du Parc Industriel, will not only bring all the groups under one roof but will also be more prominently and conveniently located for customers interested in the Fendt experience and other equipment lines, including those of Massey Ferguson.

“We are very excited about this new facility and what it will mean for our customers and employees. The design concept will provide a beautiful and spacious environment that will bring together everyone in ways that will enhance communication, facilitate teamwork, and inspire new solutions to meet today’s farming challenges,”

AGCO’s Galvanize dealership design concept conveys Fendt’s strong brand image and reflects its new strategies, forward-leaning technologies, and award-winning equipment. The design provides open environments and greater visibility of dealerships’ functional areas for complete and inclusive customer experiences. Galvanize can be customized for use in greenfield projects, like SA’s new Fendt facility, or in existing buildings for dramatically modern transformations. AGCO provides design assistance for dealers upgrading their facilities to the format’s style and functionality.

Service Agricole worked closely with AGCO and the design team to ensure that the concept was implemented to meet the expansion’s most crucial goals.

“Keeping an open mind when embarking on the design of a new dealership ensures all aspects of both the operational needs and customer experience are explored. Service Agricole’s new facility is a great example of what can be achieved when proper planning and design is considered in the beginning of the process rather than the end,”

said Corbin Pulliam, studio principal, Corbin Design Group.

Central to the Galvanize design is Fendt’s Customer Support Center concept, which places tremendous importance on facilitating customer/employee engagement and collaboration. The immediate benefits of this focus are improved communications and collaborations that lead to more innovative and effective solutions for farmers. The long-term benefits include highly constructive relationships between customers and dealerships, not to mention greater job satisfaction and retention of talented employees.

“We’re tremendously excited about Service Agricole’s Fendt expansion and seeing the Galvanize concept come to life! Service Agricole’s investment in this facility clearly demonstrates its commitment to our mutual customers and supports our farmer-first strategy. Our dealers work very hard to provide exceptional customer experiences and we want their facilities to work just as hard as they do. Galvanize provides a modern and attractive environment with effective dealership branding that we believe will positively influence customers and energize our dealers’ employees. We’re excited for what Galvanize represents for the future of AGCO dealerships!”

“The opening of this new facility will be a celebration of our customers and our desire to serve them in a modern and efficient manner. The design will certainly provide a very effective setting to showcase the Fendt customer experience.”

Customers and readers are encouraged to follow the construction of Service Agricole’s new facility. AGCO and SA will provide updates throughout the project via their social media channels, including Twitter and Facebook, using the #SAconstruction hashtag.

The Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, was at Nutri Group Head office, in Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec, announce details of the first-ever federal government program that will provide millions of pounds of quality, nutritious, surplus food to Canada’s most vulnerable populations.

The innovative Surplus Food Rescue Program is a $50-million federal initiative designed to address urgent, high volume, highly perishable surplus products falling under fruit, vegetables, meat and fish and seafood. These surpluses were created because the COVID-19 pandemic largely shut down the restaurant and hospitality industry, leaving many producers without a key market for their food commodities.

The Program awarded contributions to eight organizations that leverage existing food redistribution and recovery networks and agencies, who will bring the food to every region in the country. Partners, which include leading not-for-profits Food Banks Canada and Second Harvest, and La Tablée des Chefs, will redistribute products such as potatoes, walleye, chicken, turkey, eggs, and more. In total, the program will redistribute approximately 12 million kilograms of surplus food to more food insecure families that would otherwise have been wasted.

For over 30 years, Nutri-Group and its partner producers have been providing consumers in Canada with high-quality sustainable eggs, while helping farmers build stronger businesses and rural communities. Through the Surplus Food Rescue Program, Nutri Group will be providing Food Banks Canada and Second Harvest more than 1 million dozen eggs at cost to ensure Canadians continue to receive fresh, nutritious food during the pandemic. The eggs will be redistributed to many food banks and local food organizations across Canada, notably across the network of moissons in Quebec.

The significant disruptions to Canada’s restaurant and hospitality industry caused by COVID-19 has left many producers with surplus food and no way to get it onto the plates of Canadians. The eight partnerships announced which involve over 100 different organizations will help farmers meet the needs of vulnerable Canadians and recover the cost of their efforts.

The funding provided under the Program is ensuring producers and food processors like Nutri Group are fairly compensated for their work at the cost of production, while growing relationships with community food providers and supporting efforts to reduce food waste.

Putting speed to need, in less than one month a cross-functional task force, led by colleagues in the Technology team, prototyped and have delivered more than 1600 face shields and ear guards for local healthcare providers and first responders in Shippensburg, Chambersburg, Carlisle and the surrounding region, with plans to double that amount in the coming weeks.

The Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, campus efforts feed into the broader Volvo Group North America pandemic outreach. The Group is providing financial aid, medical supplies, purchasing expertise and other in-kind donations to nonprofits in multiple locations across the U.S. and Canada.

“At Volvo CE, we have a ton of talent, resources and capability that we can deploy to help in the fight against the virus. It is who we are; our people care for the community, they are problem solvers, they are talented, engaged and determined to make a difference,”

says Brian Rudge, scrum leader and chief project manager for large soil compaction.

The face shield is now one of the most in-demand pieces of equipment. It is used as a second barrier to cover and protect the N95 respirator mask and extend the mask’s life.

The shield lenses are sourced from an internal supply of replacement lenses that are normally stocked for fabrication grinding, and attached to 3D-printed visor brackets to make a functional equivalent to the medical-grade face shields used in hospitals.

Foam rolls, sourced from the cab assembly line, are cut and used to pad the shield visors, as well as shipped to fellow Volvo Group sites to support their face shield production activities.

The ear guards help alleviate the discomfort of wearing N95 masks for long shifts. The 3D-printed expandable attachments hold the elastic straps of the masks around the head instead of looping over the ears and causing irritation.

Both the visors and ear guards are produced on fused deposition modeling (FDM) 3-D printers owned by the Technology department or employees, and produce materials at a rate of about 40 per day. Several employees are also using a thermoforming process to heat strips of plastic and form into the visor design.

Employees use social distancing and proper sanitizing measures to assemble the devices from home. Items are collected once a week for deliveries.

Additional Volvo CE employees are getting involved by writing personal notes of encouragement that are added to the delivery boxes. The site is also collecting bleach and disinfectants for local EMS departments, who are consuming supplies at a rapid rate, due to rigorous cleaning requirements.

With almost 90 years of experience in the industry and operations in 16 countries, including the U.S. and Mexico under its jointly owned company, Ascendum Machinery, Nors has built a reputation as an outstanding dealer that is focused on providing unique solutions to its customers.

The $2 billion USD company began its global expansion in the 1990s, entering the African market, then North and South America.
The Quebec -based dairy farm known across the globe for its outstanding genetics, including famed comestar Laurie Sheik, signed an agreement to purchase a total of eight Delaval VMS V300 with herd Navigator

Comestar Holstein, is preparing a new system which allows the cows to choose when they are milked, and the milking itself is performed by the new generation of milking robot: the DeLaval VMS V300. Comestar owners Marc and France Comtois, together with their children Kathleen, Steve, and Julie and her husband Julien Turmel, were very clear on the benefit of the new system for their much-envied Holsteins. “There will be more freedom and comfort for the animal,” says Marc.

But it’s not just a case of putting in some new robots – it is the connection of those robots to capture and analyze more data, faster and more easily than ever before that will enable the Comtois family to make better decisions to improve the farm environment for themselves, workers and cows.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.delaval.com/contentassets/c63e6571dbc2429ea734676b9527a867/comestar-team-l-to-r---steve-comtois-kathleen-comtois-julien-turmel-julie-comtois-france-comtois-marc-comtois.jpg" alt="The Comestar Team, from left to right: Steve Comtois, Kathleen Comtois, Julien Turmel, Julie Comtois, France Comtois, and Marc Comtois.

Marc also notes that with their new DeLaval VMS system, cows will most likely be less stressed. “It will be better for the animals. We’ll be able to manage the herd’s health more efficiently.”

This power of this machine is made possible by the data captured at each milking by DeLaval Herd Navigator system, which performs automated milk analysis including progesterone levels. Every morning the Comtois family and their staff receive information on each individual cow’s milking performance, health and reproductive status – because amongst other industry firsts, DeLaval VMS V300 is still the only automated milking solution that includes automated pregnancy checks.

In one year from now, Comestar Holstein plans to be milking 400 cows with six VMS V300 robots in a new sandbedded freestall barn. The facility will be built to accommodate two additional VMS units. DeLaval dealer Équipements Provencher supports the installation and service of Comestar Holstein’s robots.

“We are honored to be involved in the evolution of Comestar Holsteins’ plans for its dairy business,” says Francisco Rodriquez, Integrated Robotics, Manager for DeLaval. “With some of the best dairy genetics in the industry, we are excited to see how our technology pairs with the milking potential of the Comestar herd.”

The rise of automated milking has created a demand for robot-efficient dairy cows where every second counts.

Paul Larmer, Semex CEO, says he isn’t surprised that Comestar Holstein is moving towards automation given their reputation for being at the forefront of dairy cattle technologies. “Comestar sires are known worldwide for siring excellent feet & legs, udders that have the correct teat settings and large volumes of milk. The global industry is demanding these kind of cows that are essentially ‘robot ready,’ and bloodlines like Comestar have been and will continue to meet this demand.”

The Dion engineers have integrated into the Scorpion 350, technology only previously found on some self-propelled harvesters, without compromising the profitability.

The harvester exploits all the power and technology available on today’s tractors like ISOBUS controls and load-sensing hydraulics. In addition to exploiting your existing tractor that is used year-round, the acquisition and operating cost are kept low.

Without a transverse auger, the straight line flow of the Dion harvester makes it the most efficient on the market. The silage is accelerated in a progressive manner at every step, without abrupt change in direction & without energy loss. The same efficiency as a self-propelled harvester at a fraction of the cost.

High Efficiency Electro-Hydraulics

The Scorpion 350 takes its hydraulic power from the Power Beyond ports of the tractor. The load-sensing system ensures maximum efficiency and does not require any cooler.

Large diameter hoses reduce the energy losses. All the functions of the harvester are grouped together in a hydraulic manifold with cartridge valves. The modular design is economical and easy to maintain.

The hydraulic functions provide precision and power. The connection is easy thanks to color and symbol coded anodized aluminum handles. Only 4 lines are required for all functions.

A heavy-duty, 46cc piston motor, coupled with a robust transfer box provide high output torque to feed the impressive harvester capacity. The simple setup largely reduces the number of parts.

The use of a hydraulic motor brings the benefits of smooth starts, independent of the PTO speed. The slow reverse speed ensures precise control of the feedrolls when reversing after a metal detection for example.

Easy to use ISOBUS Controls

Operating a forage harvester has never been so user-friendly. The Scorpion 350 connects to the ISOBUS implement connector of the tractor to load the graphical interface in the tractor display. For non-ISOBUS tractors, a retrofit kit is available including a connection harness and monitor. The graphical interface provides a complete visualisation of the harvester state, adjusts the length of cut & operation functions.

For an optimal and ergonomic operation, an Aux-N ISOBUS joystick is recommended (available as an option). Some tractors allow the assignation of ISOBUS functions directly on the armrest joystick or button, making it even easier.
