AUSA has signed a sale agreement for the Excelway range with Madvac, the Canadian manufacturer of compact multi-purpose chassis and vehicles, and also with Kaoussis, Greece’s leading manufacturer of waste management equipment.

AUSA road maintenance and cleaning vehicles were marketed under the Excelway brand name, but now AUSA will be focussing on developing its industrial machinery business to pursue the company’s strategic plan for expansion.

Ramon Carbonell, CEO of AUSA states:

“In 2022, AUSA will begin a major plan for international expansion with the aim of doubling its turnover within five years. We will achieve this objective by focussing on our range of industrial vehicles, which have been the core of our business since it was established. With the Excelway range, we have developed in-depth technological expertise which we are leveraging to enhance all our products. After a long process, which we initiated during 2020, we believe that the proposals from Madvac and Kaoussis were the best way to ensure that the Excelway product range can begin a new phase of development and meet the current demand.”

AUSA’s new strategic plan includes major expansion in North America, the Asia-Pacific
region and Central Europe – regions where the manufacturer is already present, and
where it intends to increase its market penetration.

To rise to the challenge of this major international expansion, AUSA has invested 12
million Euros in renovating its models in the period from 2016 to 2020, and the company
is planning similar investments to update its catalog of more compact models in
coming years.

“We have the best and most varied range of industrial products in our company’s history. We offer efficient, tough, and safe machines which meet the needs of our customers worldwide. Sales of machines in our industrial range have risen by over 80% since 2016 and, along with the investments which we have made to improve our facilities – which have a production capacity of 10,000 vehicles per year – plus our great staff, we are convinced that this is the best time to focus our business and venture strongly into these markets,”

Ramon Carbonell concluded.

Agritechnica normally attracts 2,800 exhibitors and over 486,000 visitors to the Exhibition Centre in Hanover but some of the main exhibitors had previously expressed concern about the new dates in 2022.

Speculation was rife that the show was being cancelled during the days before the official announcement on Monday this week.

DLG said that in view of the current national and global developments in conjunction with the corona pandemic, the rapidly rising number of cases worldwide and the related restrictions on travel, as well as official regulations, the DLG, as organizer, the VDMA Agricultural Machinery Association and Agritechnica’s exhibitor advisory board have jointly concluded that the conditions required for hosting the world’s leading agricultural machinery exhibition are no longer fulfilled.

Dr Reinhard Grandke, Chief Executive Officer, DLG, said:

“With regret, we have observed that, following the deteriorating pandemic situation in recent weeks and the resulting current official regulations, a justified exceptional situation has arisen, under which the trouble-free execution of Agritechnica is no longer possible.Together with the VDMA Agricultural Machinery Association and the trade fair’s exhibitor advisory board, and following many discussions with both exhibitors and visitors, we have therefore decided to cancel next year’s Agritechnica. We have made this decision respecting our responsibilities towards the health and safety of all. We deeply regret the cancellation. Many of our exhibitors, partners, visitors and members, as well as the entire DLG team, have already invested in extensive preparations. Our focus is now on preparing Agritechnica 2023 as well as the other national and international DLG events and trade fairs that are scheduled for next year.”

Dr Reinhard Grandke, Chief Executive Officer, DLG

Weeks ago, major exhibitors John Deere and JCB had already confirmed they were not exhibiting at Agritechnica in 2022 citing bad timing as the main reason. John Deere said that farmers will be in the fields working at the show’s February scheduled dates and that would affect visitor attendance figures.

It’s a big blow to the DLG as it relies on Agritechnica and EuroTier, its livestock husbandry show, as a significant part of its income. Both shows are held on alternate years but EuroTier was also cancelled in November 2020 with a virtual show held instead.

Dr Bernd Scherer, managing director, VDMA Agricultural Machinery Association, added:

“We all deeply regret that Agritechnica 2022 cannot take place after all; on the one hand, because the entire industry was already looking forward to its ‘leading trade fair’ with great anticipation, and on the other hand, because farmers currently stand to benefit from the numerous agricultural machinery innovation impulses in a way rarely seen before. After all, innovative machines, equipment and software tools make a significant contribution to sustainable and future-proof agricultural machinery production processes. Being able to present our extensive portfolio of innovations to a broad industry audience live on an international stage is and remains the gold standard.”

Dr Bernd Scherer, managing director, VDMA Agricultural Machinery Association

In recent days Agritechnica announced several medals awarded to new innovations and these still are very relevant, even though the show will not proceed.

Freya von Czettritz, Agritechnica project manager, said:

“The decision to cancel Agritechnica is particularly difficult for us since many companies have specifically targeted the trade fair to present their innovations. Even though Agritechnica cannot take place in Hanover next year as planned, it remains an opportunity to focus on the innovations in the agricultural machinery industry. That is why we have announced the winners of the leading innovation award for international agricultural machinery, as planned.”

The 6R 140 gives customers a fourth choice in the 110-to 140-horsepower small-frame class while the 6R 165 adds a third model to the mid-frame lineup of 145- to165-horsepower tractors. With power bulge and Intelligent Power Management, the 6R 140 and 6R 165 Tractors deliver up to 166 and 212 maximum horsepower in tough conditions such as heavy transport, PTO, or hydraulic applications.

Livestock producers who demand more information and greater machine efficiency should consider adding the optional new John Deere Loader Technology Package that’s ideal for feeding livestock or using pallet forks. The package includes reconfigurable loader control handle with an integrated reverser so operators can set their preferences and easily manage the direction of the tractor at the touch of a button. When equipped with the optional large hydraulic pump, cycle times are improved compared to previous models and help operators do more work in less time.

The Loader Technology Package includes a Dynamic Weighing System (DWS), along with Level to Horizon (LTH) and Return to Position (RTP) features. DWS can weigh loads on the go versus needing the tractor to be stopped while doing so or the need for a feeder wagon scale. Using LTH, operators can quickly level an attachment parallel to the ground to avoid spilling material while traveling across uneven ground. RTP automatically returns the loader to a predefined boom and bucket position for fast, easy loading of material at repeated heights such as a feed wagon or trailer bed.

Deere has also improved the styling, visibility, and operator comfort of the 6R Series Tractors.

“The 6R Tractor cab provides operators with outstanding visibility and a quiet work environment. These new tractors continue to deliver premium levels of comfort, convenience and technology that John Deere customers are accustomed to.”

Dennis Ogle, marketing manager for John Deere said.

Critical machine information was moved from the steering column to an easy-to-read digital display that’s now located on the tractor’s corner post. By combining the cab updates with the new control handle, operators can enjoy high levels of comfort and convenience that can help them operate at peak efficiency and performance in their daily work.

When it comes to technology, the 6R Tractors come standard with a 4G JDLink connection (modem). Once activated in the John Deere Operations Center, the tractor will stream machine and field data to the owner’s Operations Center account, free of charge. What’s more, the owner can use the Work Planner tool in Operations Center to set up field prescriptions and other field tasks while in their home office or on-the-go and can push the instructions to the tractor’s in-cab display, saving the operator time in the field by not having to manually enter this information.

John Deere has made several key updates for model year 2022 S Series Combines, while celebrating 75 years of manufacturing and selling self-propelled combines. To recognize the historic milestone, a 75th anniversary decal will be applied to each new combine leaving the factory.

Source: John Deere

For MY22 several new factory-installed options are available to order for the S Series. These options include:

Automation Activation 4.0 with Generation 4 Machine Sync and AutoPath.

New LED lighting packages – the same lights offered on the larger X Series Combines.

Factory-installed, flat-tooth comb chaffer (formerly high-performance chaffer) – available for S and X Series. Three new reside management offerings:

Extra-fine cut chopper for S780 and S790 Combines.

Advanced PowerCast tailboard with deluxe residue management for soybeans.

Premium residue management that includes the tough crop kit.

Remote grease line for the combine’s final drives.

The Kondex Max thresh/small wire/large wire configurations.

“John Deere S Series Combines are a great harvesting solution for producers who grow corn, small grains, and pulses across North America. These new options can help farmers push the envelope of high-capacity harvesting while improving grain quality,”

said Ray Gherardini, marketing manager for John Deere.

AutoPath uses guidance lines from previous passes, such as planting, to automatically set hands-free navigation in the field and eliminates guess rows at harvest, regardless of equipment width.

A new LED lighting package offers additional forward-facing lights to brighten areas in front of and behind the combine and illuminate the grain tank, row finder, engine and service access areas, and the unloading auger.

The optional factory-installed flat-tooth comb chaffer can make the combine easier to set in canola and lower tailings in weedy harvesting conditions.

For customers who need to chop tough straw into fine pieces or possibly eliminate a harrow pass in the field, a new extra-fine cut chopper is available for select models of S Series Combines. Customers can now add an optional grease line for final drive zerks to make servicing them more convenient. This simple system can help ensure regular maintenance is completed and uptime is maximized.

For small grains growers who need to harvest pulses in their crop rotations, John Deere now offers the robust Kondex all-crop concave configuration. The Kondex concave is ideal for high-speed harvesting as it maximizes material-on-material threshing to keep the rotor full while moving through the field.
Also new in MY22 are updates to the John Deere front-end equipment offerings. These updates include:

A new flexible cutterbar on Hinged Drapers (HDF).

The release of the eight-row Folding Corn Head (C8F).

Wing leveling on Hinged Drapers.

Integrated transport on Hinged Drapers.

HDF Drapers are available in 35- to 50-foot working widths and feature the same wing range of the rigid-cutterbar drapers (HDR), but with the addition of a flexible cutterbar to closely follow the ground.

“The HDF is the ultimate solution for on-ground cutting of crops,”

Gherardini said.

The narrow profile of the new C8F 8-row Folding Corn Head improves transport logistics.

Wing leveling on Hinged Drapers allows the user to set a “home” position for the draper. When set, the draper returns to that position when lifting on headlands and improves harvesting efficiency. The header can be set to lift to in a smile shape or a flat/neutral position. Wing leveling helps the draper clear debris or obstacles that may be encountered during harvest.

Integrated transport is a new feature of John Deere Hinged Drapers that improves harvest logistics for customers and ensures the draper is always close to the combine when transporting between fields. Integrated transport enables the header gauge wheels to convert into “transport mode” so it can be easily pulled from field to field.

For the first time, the new models were presented to the public in September 2019 at Agro Show Bednary, Poland. Sadly, the unprecedented situation which arose in the first six months of 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic did not allow us to stick to the plan of promotion events including the Techagro show. The presentation of the new model ranges had to adapt to the new circumstances and cancel live promotion events.

Kuhn North America, Inc. introduces the new Kuhn VB 7100 Series round balers. The Kuhn VB 7160 4×5 and VB 7190 4×6 round balers set a new standard in round bales. These balers offer you high performance, producing dense bales and giving a high capacity in all crop conditions. The heavy-duty design guarantees maximum lifetime with minimum downtime. Where others stop, the KUHN VB 7100 Series starts.

Produce high-density bales with densities of up to 8.8 lbs/ft3 (140 kg/m3) in straw thanks to the new Kuhn patented i-DENSE system. This intelligent twin tensioning arm system, in combination with the measurements of the moisture sensor, automatically adapts the baling pressure according to the different crops and crop conditions, without intervention from the driver. This results in the most economical use of your baler without compromising on performance.

Silage or straw, the VB 7100 Series balers offer you high capacity. The unique mix of the i-DENSE system and the proven 4 belts + 3 roller design of the bale chamber ensures fast, secure, and consistent bale formation in any crop condition, even in silage. The net wrap, with active stretch technology, guarantees a consistent net tension and sturdy bale shape. On top of that, the VB 7100 balers feature the fastest tailgate operation in the market – within 4 seconds the bale is ejected and the tailgate is closed again.

The extreme durability of components means minimum downtime for maximum baling time. Thanks to its heavy-duty design, the balers provide you the robustness and reliability you need. Kuhn VB 7100 Series balers are Isobus compatible with an intuitive user interface, easy to control via the ISOBUS terminal of the tractor, or via Kuhn’s CCI 50, CCI 800, or CCI 1200 terminals. You can easily change settings such as bale density or net wrap layers from the comfort of your tractor seat.

Kuhn North America, Inc., of Brodhead, Wisconsin, is a leading innovator in agricultural and industrial equipment, specializing in spreaders, mixers, hay tools, and tillage tools. Kuhn, Kuhn Knight, and Kuhn Krause products are sold by farm equipment dealers throughout the United States, Canada, and many other countries.

First-half financial results at Rolls-Royce’s Power Systems division have been significantly impacted by the global Covid-19 pandemic, with adjusted revenue down 11% to £1.25 billion (1,43 billion €). The division remains in the black, having generated £22 million (25 million €) (down 79%) of underlying profit. At the same time, Power Systems has been continuing to work hard on reinventing itself as a provider of sustainable, integrated total solutions for drive-power and energy needs, and is increasingly developing net-zero-carbon products.

“Despite the unprecedented scenario in which the global economy finds itself due to Covid-19, we have actively managed the economic impact on Power Systems in the first six months of 2020. We identified this problem at an early stage and took a number of countermeasures. The challenge of focusing effort on shielding our employees from infection while continuing to serve customers to the best of our abilities has been met despite the prevailing headwinds,”

said Andreas Schell, CEO of Rolls-Royce Power Systems.

Markets reacting differently – diversified positioning pays off

Looking back over the first half of 2020, Louise Öfverström, Chief Financial Officer of Rolls-Royce Power Systems, commented:

“The drop in revenue is due to noticeable reluctance on the part of customers to invest in new equipment, although the falls varied from application to application. Our diversified positioning across a range of applications covering 13 markets has once again proven to be the right one and has had a stabilizing effect on our business.”

Sales in the power generation market remained stable due to increased investments of data center customers safeguarding their electrical power systems against unexpected outages.

“The lockdowns have made us all keenly aware of the primary importance of keeping data flowing. Our systems help secure power supplies to many safety-critical facilities such as data centers, server parks, and hospitals too,”

explained Andreas Schell. The defense sector remained stable and was not influenced by the pandemic.

Equipment destined for the oil and gas sector, industrial powertrains and propulsion systems for passenger ships and yachts were all hit by declining sales. As a great many vehicles, machines and systems were halted during lockdown, service revenues fell by around 12%, as was expected.

Crisis management keeps production going

“In some areas, we have adjusted production to this lower demand scenario, using measures such as short time work at German sites. However, at no point did operations have to come to a halt, despite challenges in our global supply chains. Thanks to intelligent crisis management and good relations with our supply partners, we’ve been able to deliver all orders despite the difficult environment. This too has helped reduce the consequences for our business,”

stressed Schell.

In order to mitigate the financial impact of the pandemic, Power Systems has taken a number of measures aimed at preserving cash. A ban on all non-critical business trips and a review of ongoing projects, pausing them where necessary, are just some examples. In order to reduce personnel costs, managers are waiving parts of their salary, or postponing remittance. Other cost measures include a hiring freeze, postponement of salary increases this financial year, and a three-week unpaid production break at US plants.

CFO Louise Öfverström explained:

“We are doing all we can to mitigate the financial risks arising from the current situation. Cost discipline and safeguarding cash flow continue to be top priority,”

she continued.

Cautiously optimistic outlook at present

Signs of recovery are now emerging in some applications and markets, for example in China.

“State rescue programs and the easing of Covid restrictions, where feasible, will help bring about recovery. That said, whether and to what extent a recovery will occur also depends on what happens to the infection rate, and how that impacts the economy,”

said Schell. From today’s perspective, Power Systems’ end markets are expected to return to pre-Covid levels by the end of 2021.

New tech powering transformation

“We want to emerge from this crisis stronger, so we’re using the time to press ahead with our transformation even more keenly than before,”

said Schell. Even in these days of Covid-19, Power Systems is continuing to implement its PS 2030 corporate strategy: To become a provider of integrated, net-zero-carbon solutions, and to assist customers throughout the entire product lifecycle, aided by a strong core business. Electrification, digitalization and decarbonization are the key watchwords.

“The announcement of our collaboration with Daimler and its partner Volvo in using commercial vehicle fuel cells in distributed power supply systems has made our customers and the industry sit up and take notice. This will be a real alternative for many, especially if the fuel cells run on green hydrogen produced from renewable energy sources,” added Schell, looking to the future.

said Schell. Work is already underway on a demo system due to go into operation in early 2021.

Integration of two new subsidiaries

Back in January, Rolls-Royce acquired a majority stake in Berlin start-up Qinous, renaming it Rolls-Royce Solutions Berlin. The battery storage specialist is the heart of the new Microgrid Solutions business unit at Power Systems, pulling together all activities associated with local, intelligent power grids. Its portfolio ranges from individual components to fully featured microgrids that combine renewable energies, battery storage and conventional power generation. A separate production bay at the company’s Bavarian facility in Ruhstorf is currently being readied for equipping battery containers with battery modules and peripherals.

Power Systems is also reinforcing its core business with the addition of Belgian company Kinolt, a specialist in uninterruptible power supplies, which was acquired in July. This move sees Power Systems grow its line-up of integrated total solutions for emergency power supplies used in safety-critical environments such as data centers and industrial facilities housing sensitive production processes. The company, with almost 300 employees in Liège (Belgium), Willich (Germany) and other locations across the world, is to be merged fully into the business unit, with its products joining the MTU product range.

Deere makes MY21 updates to popular 7R, 8R Tractors: Changes include more horsepower offerings, enhanced ride quality and steering upgrades that add new levels of productivity, comfort and capability.

John Deere announces several updates and additions to its popular lineup of 7R and 8R Tractors for the 2021 model year. The MY21 tractors can now be ordered with deliveries starting in November.

New to the 7R Series lineup is the 7R 350, with 350 rated engine horsepower – a 20 horsepower increase over the largest MY20 7R Tractor – and a base weight of 24,700 pounds. The 7R 350 offers the best power-to-weight ratio of any John Deere Tractor offered today and comes standard with Triple Link Suspension and Infinitely Variable Transmission (IVT), and can be ordered with CommandPRO controls for precise speed control and easy implement hookups.

“The new 7R 350 is the right choice for jobs that require significant power. Customers will benefit from the maneuverability and lighter footprint of the smaller chassis offered by this tractor,”

said Ryan Jardon, product marketing manager, large tractors at John Deere.

“If you’re hauling slurry or forage or need to power large mowing and baling equipment, these tractors are an ideal fit.”

Another key enhancement for 7R Tractors used for hay and forage work is the addition of LSB Ride Control. The inertia generated by the baler and transmitted to the tractor can result in poor ride quality for the operator.

“To compensate, some farmers use a larger tractor than what’s needed to power their large square baler,”

Jardon said.

“This new option gives farmers the ability to use a lighter 7R Tractor with LSB Ride Control to better manage operator comfort and to reduce soil compaction and crop damage thanks to the tractor’s lighter footprint.”

LSB Ride Control modulates the tractor’s IVT to compensate for the rocking motion of the baler plunger. The self-adjusting system improves operator comfort, even as crop density and field conditions change. LSB Ride Control is available as a factory-installed option for MY21 on 7R Tractors equipped with an IVT and is compatible with John Deere L331 or L341 Large Square Balers. A John Deere StarFire receiver is also required.

Starting with model year 2021, John Deere will make ActiveCommand Steering 2 (ACS 2) available as a factory-installed option on 7R and 8R Tractors. This system replaces the original ActiveCommand Steering system and adds more features and capabilities to further improve the driving experience of the tractor in the field or on the road. ACS 2 reduces steering effort for the operator and improves line holding during transport. Using ACS 2 operators can adjust steering sensitivity and steering wheel resistance or turn on or off variable-ratio steering to best match their application and driving preferences.

“ActiveCommand Steering 2 gives operators enhanced control over steering system settings to best fit the work being done. For example, ACS 2 can be set to make it easier to turn the tractor in the field or can be set to provide a more automotive-like steering experience during transport,”

Jardon said.

“In a tractor equipped with ACS 2, it’s noticeably easier to handle curves, for example, compared to a tractor without this option.”

For MY21, Deere also will offer Low Sidewall (LSW®) Tires as optional equipment on its three largest 8R Tractors, the 8R 340, 8R 370 and 8R 410.

“8R Tractors require Independent Link Suspension to be equipped with Low Sidewall Tires tires. This combination provides outstanding ride quality with all the benefits of a single tire and a large footprint, such as decreased compaction, in a narrow transport package,”

Jardon said.
