Which direction is battery technology heading? Top representatives of the industry will discuss this and other questions at the Future Battery Forum from 10th to 11th December. Founding partners of the event, which takes place for the first time this year, are Varta, Wacker Neuson Group, and Akasol. The platform brings together key industry players, aims to promote international exchange and to answer the most pressing questions about the future. Varta will be represented in the program with two keynote speakers.

Due to Corona, the premiere of the Future Battery Forum, “Battery Technologies 2025: Paths to Transformation“, will be held digitally. The management conference brings together the most important representatives of the battery technology value chain – from manufacturers to suppliers and users. It is intended to promote international, cross-sector exchange, generate new ideas, create synergies, and provide a platform for the discourse on the opportunities and challenges of the future. Already 1000 participants have registered for the event in December.

Rainer Hald, Chief Technology Officer Varta: Battery as a Strategic Component for the Future of Europe

With his lecture, Rainer Hald will look at the strategic component of the battery and its increasingly influential role in the technological future of Europe. Hald has been with Varta for 20 years. Under his leadership, the energy density and production of lithium-ion cells for wearables was significantly increased and expanded.

Gordon Clements, General Manager Solutions Varta: Quo Vadis? Technology and Market Outlook for Cell & Battery System Manufacturing in Europe

With his keynote, Gordon Clements gives an outlook for market and technology developments at European cell and battery system manufacturers. He shows how Varta intends to produce tailor-made energy solutions for a wide range of different device manufacturers in the future. Clements came to Varta in 2002 and serves as General Manager for Varta’s Solutions & Storage division.

Focus on developing grain technology to improve customers’ operations

AGCO announced an agreement to acquire research and product development firm 151 Research to create new technology solutions for grain customers.

AGCO and 151 Research previously had an exclusive technology partnership to develop GSI GrainViz precision grain monitoring, which gives growers and commercial operators advanced insight into the moisture content of the grain in their steel storage bins. This acquisition will allow AGCO to continue the development of GrainViz and expand into new solutions.

“Our grain customers are facing significant challenges due to difficulty finding labor, low commodity prices, and tight margins. We need the sharpest minds working on finding answers to these challenges, and we believe this acquisition will help improve our customers’ operations through smarter technology,”

said Stefan Caspari, AGCO Senior Vice President, General Manager, Grain, and Protein.

“We are excited about the continued development of GrainViz and look forward to creating a connected experience across the entire grain system to increase efficiency and profitability for our customers.”

Paul Card, Chief Executive Officer, 151 Research, said:

“Our team’s goal at 151 Research has always been to solve problems by helping customers gain actionable insights to improve their business. GrainViz allows users to see the moisture content throughout the entire grain mass to proactively manage the quality and quantity of their stored grain. We are pleased AGCO recognized the benefits this game-changing technology can bring to customers and shares our passion for finding smarter answers to the industry’s biggest challenges.”

AGCO intends to retain the firm’s 45 current employees and to maintain the Winnipeg office as the smart grain technology center of excellence. The team is completing an initial release of GrainViz in a limited number of bins this fall. A broader launch is planned prior to the 2021 harvest.

Ponsse Manager 1.7 presents forwarder production reporting, a function highly requested by customers, alongside the system’s other top features.

As a new feature, Ponsse Manager displays the progress of work areas in a separate graph, showing harvester production and forwarder production relative to the total estimated volume of the work area in question.

Printable load certificate

The Ponsse Manager load certificate displays work area identification data and local transportation per storage location, both as sum totals and operator-specific values. The printable load certificate also includes the volume of each load, the assortments delivered, and the distance travelled.

“Forwarder production volumes will be updated in Ponsse Manager reports if the forwarder is equipped with a compatible Ponsse Load Optimizer loader scale or the Opti 4G operator load details feature, which allows operators to enter their roadside deliveries in the Opti 4G system. These features raise machine chain reporting to a whole new level and offer a better overview of total harvesting production”,

says Juho Leskinen, Product Group Manager, information systems and digitalisation.

Ponsse Parts Online, a system for ordering spare parts, can be accessed from the PONSSE Manager main menu in countries where Parts Online service is available.

Ponsse Manager is a continuously developed data management system

To support their operations, forest machine entrepreneurs need a reliable partner to develop services that truly improve customers’ business. Ponsse Manager is a modern forest machine monitoring and data transfer system that forest machine entrepreneurs can use to see their machines’ location, productivity figures and fuel consumption, among others. With Ponsse Manager, entrepreneurs can improve the efficiency of their business and enhance productivity, thanks to real-time field operations monitoring. With Manager, entrepreneurs can monitor the progress of stands, plan and manage machine transportation, keep track of machine outputs according to assortment and print out measuring certificates. In addition, Manager informs entrepreneurs of machine maintenance needs and displays any maintenance-related notes made by the operator.
