The Origine France Garantie (French Origin Guaranteed) label certifies the provenance of the New Holland self-propelled grape and olive harvesters manufactured in the French plant of Coëx. Furthermore, it provides clear and objective traceability information.

New Holland Agriculture has obtained Origine France Garantie (French Origin Guaranteed) certification for its whole range of self-propelled grape and olive harvesters designed and manufactured in France, as a recognition of the more than 40 years of manufacturing quality at its New Holland Centre of Excellence in Coëx, in the Vendée region of France.

New Holland initially achieved the certification for its compact range of grape harvesters (8030L and 7030M) in 2017 and then gradually extended the number of models certified. This year the independent certification body, Bureau Veritas, has extended this recognition to the entire range of products manufactured at the Coëx facility.

Richard Mesnil, Coëx Plant Manager, and Head of Grape Harvester Production stated:

“All of us at the Coëx Centre of Excellence are very proud of this certification. We work every day to deliver the highest manufacturing standards to our customers around the world. This Origine France Garantie label is an important recognition of our unflagging commitment to excellence.”

Thierry Le Briquer, Grape, Olive, and Coffee Global Product and Platform Manager, added:

“This certification highlights New Holland’s strong heritage in serving grape, olive, and coffee growers around the world, and its deep roots here in Coëx, the birthplace of our Braud grape harvesters.”

The Origine France Garantie certification was created in 2010 by the Pro France association – which brings together manufacturers and professional organizations – to provide customers with clear information on the French origin of their product, promote French industrial know-how in the domestic and international markets, and raise the profile of companies who manufacture in the country.

For customers, the Origine France Garantie label guarantees the product’s clear and objective traceability and the assurance that it has been manufactured in compliance with health and safety, social and environmental standards.

Coëx: New Holland Centre of Excellence for Grape Harvesters

New Holland’s engineering and manufacturing expertise in grape and olive harvesters and straddle tractors is concentrated at the Coëx Centre of Excellence, which serves customers worldwide. The Engineering and Prototype departments conduct all research and development, design, and continuous improvement activities for these product lines to deliver quality equipment with cutting-edge technology to every customer.

All grape and olive harvesters and straddle tractors are manufactured on-site. The entire manufacturing process, from raw materials into finished goods out, is conducted at the advanced Coëx facility. Every single machine, without exception, undergoes a rigorous dynamic quality control protocol on a dedicated test track.

The Coëx Centre of Excellence operates to the highest standards, as shown by the ISO certifications it holds: ISO 9001 – Quality Management System, ISO 45001 – Occupational Health and Safety, ISO 14001 – Environmental Management System, and ISO 50001 – Energy Management System.

For many years now, Continental’s Tire business area has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to the area of sustainability and has now bundled all activities and projects in a newly created department under the leadership of Claus Petschick as part of its “Vision 2030” strategy program.

As Head of Sustainability, he is responsible since April 1, 2020 for the strategic direction and worldwide steering of all sustainability projects, and in this role reports directly to Christian Kötz, Head of the Tire business area and Member of the Executive Board of Continental AG.

Claus Petschick has worked at Continental for over 30 years, initially holding various positions in R&D and product development for the original equipment (OE) business before assuming the management of the tire plant in Hanover-Stöcken in 2007. Most recently, the 58-year-old construction engineer was responsible for global quality assurance within the tire sector as Vice President Quality Management for over ten years.

“We are underscoring our commitment to sustainable business models and innovative products and services along the entire value chain.”

– Christian Koetz, Head of Tires Business Area and Executive Board Member.

“With the creation of a dedicated sustainability organization under the leadership of Claus Petschick, we are consolidating our far-reaching activities and research projects and underscoring our commitment to further systematic expansion of sustainable business models and innovative products and services along the entire value chain,”

explains Christian Kötz, Head of the Tires business area and member of the Executive Board of Continental AG.

“We are confident that sustainable and responsible management enhances our capacity for innovation and our future viability, and that we can make an important contribution to society and toward shaping our future through our commitment.”

For many years, sustainable and responsible management has been an integral part of Continental’s corporate strategy and development. The focus of the sustainability strategy is on the four strategic topics of climate change mitigation, clean mobility, circular economies, and sustainable supply chains. In order to make the tires of the future even more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly in terms of production, use and recyclability, Continental is systematically investing in the research and development of new technologies, alternative materials, and environmentally compatible production processes.

This includes, for example, the extension of product service life through retreading. Back in 2013, Continental already built the globally unique ContiLifeCycle plant in Hanover, Germany, for this purpose. Here, specially designed machine fleets with integrated retreading systems set new standards in the field of tire recycling.

A further central concern for Continental is to cease importing natural rubber exclusively from the tropics, but to produce it as close as possible to the tire plants in order to prevent the ongoing deforestation and reduce the CO2 emissions generated through long transport routes. In future, the multiple award-winning, long-term Taraxagum project from Continental and the Fraunhofer Institute for Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology (IME) will supply natural rubber from dandelion plants, which can be used for producing motorcycle, car and commercial vehicle tires. The Urban Taraxagum bicycle tire is Continental’s first series-produced tire manufactured using natural rubber from the dandelion plant.

Continental is committed to sustainability in the natural rubber supply chain and is striving to provide the greatest possible transparency and to establishing a traceable and sustainable supply chain via an electronic system. Continental is also a founding member of the Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR), an association of the major players in the natural rubber sector from business and civil society, who are working jointly to improve global sustainability in the natural rubber sector.

The family business Grimme from Damme (Germany) has completely taken over the Danish specialist for vegetable technology Asa-Lift. In 2013 the Grimme Group already acquired 70% of the shares in the company founded in 1936 in Sorö, close to Copenhagen (Denmark).

Over the past seven years, the cooperation has developed very positively. During this time, the workforce has increased from 70 to over 130 employees. Extensive investments have been made in buildings, product development, production and the distribution of customer-specific machinery, for guaranted future growth. With over 30 product groups Grimme and
