The versatile EUROPROFI COMBILINE rotor loader wagons from Pöttinger have guaranteed smooth operation, high output, and convenience in forage harvesting for several decades. These multi-purpose loader wagons are available with or without unloading beaters. 35 knives ensure all models chop to a theoretical length of 39 mm. To meet the high demands in the field, the loader wagon professionals have upgraded the EUROPROFI with another optimization: The new front panel for even more operating convenience and flexibility.

Thanks to the optimized geometry of the front panel, the forage compression flap can now be better adjusted to the crop. The spring-loaded flap controls the automatic loading system. The sensor switches the scraper floor on and off, with a time delay if required. The 2,000 mm wide forage compression flap ensures perfect filling of the loading chamber, right up to the edges.

On the standard versions, two basic positions can be set manually. Infinitely variable hydraulic adjustment of the inclination is also available as an option. This also allows the flap to be fully retracted, so that the top section of the loading chamber can be opened when the loader wagon is deployed in harvest transport mode. Roof ropes, which are available as an option, can easily be removed.

For maximum conservation of the forage, an optional sensor is available to monitor the loading torque on the rotor. This is particularly important with the wet, heavy crops, which makes it more difficult for the material package to reach the forage compression flap. In this situation, the automatic loading system and the scraper floor are controlled based on the torque of the loading rotor. This configuration enables the wagon to be filled while maintaining the best possible forage structure even in the most difficult conditions.

The appropriate loading strategy can be selected from the driver’s cab to match the current task.

Pöttinger successfully combines tried and tested systems (such as the POWERCUT chopping system, the patented EASYMOVE swing-out knife bank, the proven 6-row floating pick-up, and a supporting tracking roller) with new technology to deliver the best quality forage.

The new split-row configuration offers greater capacity and in-field productivity

With the 2150S Early Riser front-fold trailing planter, Case IH brings a productivity-boosting, split-row configuration to its lineup of 2000 series Early Riser planters. A 525-gallon fertilizer tank capacity — along with more seed capacity — enables operators to cover more acres between fills and make the most of their time in the field.

Built on Agronomic Design principles, Case IH 2000 series Early Riser planters are known to deliver exceptional results in tight planting windows and a range of field conditions. Now, the new 2150S Early Riser front-fold trailing planter provides the additional agronomic benefits of split-row planting with greater fertilizer and seed capacity.

Greater fertilizer and seed capacity

The 2150S Early Riser front-fold trailing planter features an optional 525-gallon liquid tank to provide operators maximum run times between fills. The liquid fertilizer system delivers accurate application rates at a broad range of speeds with multiple factory-installed application options, including frame-mounted colters and in-furrow options. Plus, with 100 bushels of seed capacity (two 50-bushel tanks) and optional individual tank scales, operators can better plan for tendering with the ability to optimize partial seed fill.

“Staying productive in the field is key to getting ahead of a potentially unpredictable planting season. Greater fertilizer and seed capacity lets operators do their jobs more easily — without having to worry about capacity concerns while out in the field,”

said David Brennan, Case IH planter marketing manager.

Multiple configurations and narrow row planting increase ROI

Studies continue to show the ROI opportunities of narrow row planting, which include increased yield benefits and faster crop canopies for weed control — all while minimizing soil erosion. The 2150S Early Riser front-fold trailing planter lets operators take advantage of these benefits with a range of configurations, including 23, 24, 31, or 32 rows with 15-inch spacing, or 24 rows with 20-inch spacing.

In-cab hydraulic row-unit lift control allows operators to easily convert from 15- to 30-inch spacing with no manual lifting or tools required. When planting in a split-row configuration, an industry-leading row-unit offset of nearly 50 inches helps increase residue flow while minimizing plugging opportunities.

Exceptional ground-following capabilities are made possible by a wing flex of +/- 15 degrees combined with +/- 8 inches of row-unit travel. This ensures the row units remain in contact with soil, even in rugged terrain. Optional hydraulic wing downforce ensures proper seed depth control on the wings, while the agronomically designed Early Riser row unit provides excellent seed placement across the entire planter.

Front-fold design for simple transportation

With a front-fold frame design, the 2150S Early Riser planter delivers a narrow transport width of 13 feet — and a simple on-screen, step-by-step folding-and-unfolding system provides a smooth and quick transition from transport to field operation. Operators also gain in-cab hydraulic control of all rear subframe row units, including the center main frame row units.

“Operators should feel ready to take on the day as efficiently as possible. The 2150S Early Riser model will help them do just that. Better yet, producers can feel confident that planting is completed accurately for optimal yield results, thanks to an agronomically designed row unit,”

Brennan said.

The 2150S Early Riser front-fold trailing planter is available to order for spring 2023. Tank options include the planter-frame-mounted 525-gallon tank capacity and a pull-hitch towed fertilizer cart option.

Väderstad, one of the world’s leading companies in tillage, seeding and planting, introduces the new Tempo L 16-24 Central Fill. By handling both seed and fertilizer in a bulk system, the capacity of the world-record planter is increased even further.

The high-speed precision planter Väderstad Tempo L holds the world record for plating 502.05 hectares of maize in 24 hours, a record set in Hungary in 2017.

Now the Tempo L family is growing and the new Tempo L Central Fill with a central hopper for both seed and fertilizer is introduced, says Mattias Hovnert, Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing, and adds:

“The Central Fill functionality means that instead of filling seed in each of the row units, the farmer will only have to fill one large central hopper. The Tempo planter will then take care of the distribution of the seeds and fertilizer to each row unit – all this at world-record planting speed and precision.”

With the Central Fill function, the farmer will be able to achieve even more in a day’s work, thereby increasing productivity and capacity even further.

The new Tempo L Central Fill will be available with either 16 or 24 rows, which allows for row spacing alternatives from 450 to 762mm, depending on the model. To match the high-capacity output, the machine is equipped with a new hopper that holds 2 200 liters of seeds and 5 000 liters of fertilizer, making a total of 7 200 liters.

“The new hopper on the Tempo L Central Fill is equipped with two fans in the front, ensuring high-capacity metering of both seed and fertilizer. The technology behind the Central Fill system is very intuitive. There is no central motor metering out seeds – instead each row unit regulates the number of seeds needed to assist its individual high-precision PowerShoot seed metering system,”

says Mattias Hovnert.

The new Tempo L 16-24 with Central Fill will have its premiere at the international tradeshow Agritechnica in February 2022. The machine will be available from the end of 2022.

Precision meets performance thanks to a redesigned row-unit and more options for customization to meet growers’ individual needs.

AGCO introduces the Massey Ferguson VE Series planters. This full line of planters — from rigid and folding-frame planters to narrow transport and track planters — offers growers straightforward, dependable, durable planters that deliver consistent, accurate seed placement for optimum yields.

“The VE Series planters continue a long tradition of delivering accurate planting with minimal downtime, wear, or required maintenance. These are the latest in the evolution of planting solutions from AGCO, and they feature a redesigned, more durable row unit plus the opportunity to add many Precision Planting technologies right at the factory. These planters are designed to ensure that growers are planting at the proper depth with the right spacing, singulation, and downforce for maximizing yield, no matter the crop,”

says Arthur Santos, marketing manager for Seeding and Tillage at AGCO.

Previous planter offerings from White Planters will be available within the Massey Ferguson VE Series.

The wide range of toolbar choices, widths, and planting accessories from White Planters will be available within the Massey Ferguson VE Series, Santos adds. The planter line offers solutions for all growers — from conventional tillage to no-till operations to those who demand the latest technologies that allow for variable-rate, high-speed planting, and individual row control. The VE Series is available in a variety of row-unit and spacing combinations, including six, eight, 12, 16, 23, 24, and 36 rows and spacings of 15, 20, 22, 30, 36, 38, and 40 inches.

New row-unit enhances accuracy and longevity

Built upon the proven design of White Planters row units, the VE Series Heads Up row-unit pairs easily with the most advanced Precision Planting tools and technology available today. Several design changes ensure the longevity and performance of the row-unit itself and make planter setup and maintenance easier and more convenient.

What is likely to become the most appreciated change to the row-unit is the redesign of the seed tube guard mount. Two guards are available: a standard assembly cast of nickel material and an extended-wear guard assembly made of stainless and tungsten, which is recommended for high-speed planting with SpeedTube.

“With the redesigned mount, farmers can remove or install the guards into fully assembled row units. It’s no longer necessary to remove the gauge wheels and opener blades to perform maintenance on the guard, so it’s a huge time saver,”

Santos says.

The redesigned shank casting now features an access hole that makes it easier to plumb lines for liquid fertilizer. The hole is ahead of the seed tube, improving overall routing for the lines while also protecting them from the opener disc blades.

Many row-unit components have received the “heavy-duty” treatment to further increase the unit’s overall durability. Several castings are thicker, and bushings are larger and more robust. These enhancements improve the service life of the unit and decrease the need for maintenance.

Planter design is geared toward precision

With the combination of White Planters’ legacy of dependable and straightforward design and the latest technologies from Precision Planting, the VE Series assures growers a 99% or greater accuracy in seed placement while managing every row unit individually in real-time.

“Many VE Series planter models come from the factory with Precision Planting products — including vSet2 meters, vDrive electronic drive, DeltaForce and the 20|20 Gen3 monitor — already installed. Plug-and-play aftermarket options such as SmartFirmer seed-firmer sensor, FlowSense and FurrowForce can be added by a Precision Planting dealer on all planters,”

Santos says.

Other options and attachments, including several single- and double-disc fertilizer openers, colters, residue managers, press wheels, and blades, also are available.

The VE Series planters are available with individual 3-bushel row-unit hoppers or a 90-bushel central-fill system. Depending on the model, 300-, 500- and 750-gallon liquid fertilizer tanks are available, as are dry fertilizer and insecticide delivery. For extra-large capacity, the VE Series planter is available in a track version with 150-bushel central-fill capacity and two 750-gallon liquid fertilizer tanks.

Responding to strong farmer demand and proven performance, Kinze will expand its True Speed high-speed planting technology to five more planter configurations for the 2022 season. The company is also introducing several new features to enhance its innovative Blue Vantage planter display.

Kinze’s 4905 True Speed planter will debut this spring in 16- and 24-row models, providing corn and soybean farmers with seed placement at speeds from 3 to 12 miles per hour. The high-speed technology, developed by Kinze, enables farmers to double the acres planted in a typical day while maintaining precise singulation and seed spacing. It accommodates various seed shapes and sizes with a quick seed type changeover.

The 2022 expanded True Speed lineup will include:

A 4905 12R30 configuration, well-suited for smaller operations or as a second planter for smaller fields. All three 4905 planters will also offer increased fertilizer capacity for 2022.

31/32R15 split-row and 16R30 configurations of the Kinze 3665, a 15-inch soybean planter for high-residue conditions with the versatility to also plant crops in 30-inch rows.

24R30 and 36R20 configurations of the 4705 high-flotation planters for narrow width crops, while also carrying large amounts of seed and fertilizer.

In addition, new seed discs will be offered with the 2022 True Speed models for planting cotton, sugar beets, and milo. All Kinze planters for 2022, including the True Speed models, will also include upgrades being introduced this season that provide improved durability, longer wear life, and lower cost of ownership.

“Farmers who had the opportunity to preview or test our high-speed technology this season were highly impressed with its ability to maximize performance in a single pass. With an improving farm economy, many farmers are now ready to make investments

said Kinze president, Susanne Veatch.

to improve their productivity. Having sold out of our high-speed planter lineup for this season, we are excited to expand our True Speed offerings to make the benefits available to more farmers in 2022.”

Kinze will also offer farmers the opportunity to sign up for an online presentation to hear firsthand from company representatives about the True Speed planters and their many features.

Blue Vantage Enhancements

Kinze is also adding exciting new features next season to its Blue Vantage display that provides simple, accurate, and intuitive planter control for high-productivity planting.

Enhancements to the display, which is available with True Speed and the company’s other high-tech planters, will include:

Shared coverage mapping: enabling two planters to be in the same field and work together to share coverage data.

Up to four cameras on the display: one camera will be factory-installed for rear viewing when transporting the planter. Kinze customers can order up to three more cameras to install wherever they choose.

Adding the Blue Vantage display to the 3505 8-row bulk fill planter model.

Veatch said:

“We’ve had great feedback from our customers about Blue Vantage, which is the industry’s easiest to use, dedicated planter display. We’re pleased to offer these upgrades for 2022 to enhance the user experience and overall planting performance.”

Kinze Manufacturing has entered into an agreement with General Implement Distributors, based in Salt Lake City, Utah, to distribute Kinze planters, tillage equipment, and grain carts to their dealers in 18 states, mostly in the western U.S.

“This relationship will provide Kinze with access to a significant portion of the industry which most of our dealer network and our sales teams do not currently serve. We’re excited by the opportunity to expand the availability of our high-quality product lineup to farmers in these markets. Both companies have a strong customer focus, which makes us a good fit working together.”

said Eric Broadbent, Kinze director of North America sales.

General Implement Distributors has been wholesaling farm machinery since 1938. It has 16 full-time territory managers and six branch locations to serve its nearly 1,300 dealers. Under the new agreement, Kinze equipment will be offered by General Implement dealers in Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

“The addition of the Kinze product line to General Implement fulfills our strategic plan to offer a more complete lineup of products to better serve row-crop dealers and farmers.

Great Plains continues to expand its highly-successful PL-Series family of planters. Launched in 2018, the PL-Series planters were developed to provide accurate and consistent seed singulation, spacing, depth control, soil contact, and trench closing – all leading to even emergence and increased crop yields for producers. Models in the PL-Series include the PL5500, PL5700, PL5800, and most recently, the PL5200.

At the heart of the PL-Series planters is the 5000 Series Row Unit, which allows producers to achieve exceptional crop stands and higher yields. The 5000 Series Air-Pro Meter provides excellent singulation and accuracy using a positive-air system that “dead drops” seed into the patented Clear-Shot Seed Tube to achieve uniform spacing. This process differs from competitive vacuum meters that encounter an “early” and “late” release, resulting in inconsistent and uneven seed spacing. The Air-Pro Meter is designed to handle a wide variety of crops, such as corn, soybeans, sunflowers, cotton, and even smaller seeds, such as milo, canola, and hemp.

The newest addition to the PL-Series is the PL5200, a 40′ mounted stack-fold planter. The PL5200 can accommodate a wide variety of crops in single- and twin-row planting with exclusive features that enable operators to switch between row spacings in under an hour. James Shurts, Great Plains Product Manager, said:

“The PL5200 delivers a needed bulk-fill, stack-fold solution with Great Plains twin-row capabilities, along with other key practical technologies. Additionally, the ability to change from twin-row to single-row in under an hour adds a level of versatility not found in today’s stack-fold market.”

To help producers efficiently cover more acres in a day, the PL5200 is available in both large-capacity bulk-fill hoppers or individual row hoppers. Producers can choose from a traditional 3-section mechanical ground drive, a 3-section variable rate-ready hydraulic drive, or electric individual row control (IRC) drive.

The PL5200 is a highly accurate seeding solution with practical techniques to make quick, efficient work of planting. With a clean frame design, producers can quickly transition with high visibility and maneuverability for a safe, comfortable experience in the field and on the road.

New 16-row Configuration ready ahead of schedule

Kinze Manufacturing is expanding its new high-speed planting technology with the addition of a second 4905 True Speed planter model for the 2021 season.

Earlier this year, Kinze announced plans to introduce the 4905 planter in a 24-row model for 2021.

“The 16-row configuration was originally planned for 2022, but testing went so well we’re pleased that we are able to move up our timeline and make this model available to farmers next season,”

said Kinze president Susanne Veatch.

“Both configurations enable farmers to double the number of acres they plant in a typical day or cover the same acres in a more timely fashion. The technology also supports operations trying to expand because farmers can plant more acres with the same size planter.”

Veatch said.

The True Speed system, developed by Kinze, consists of a new high-speed electric meter and seed delivery tube enabling corn and soybean farmers to plant at speeds up to 12 miles per hour while maintaining precise singulation and seed spacing.

Both 4905 configurations feature Kinze’s easy-to-use Blue Vantage display and Blue Drive electric drive, as well as the Kinze 05 planter series upgrades designed to increase the wear life of many components, simplify maintenance, improve performance and reduce the overall cost of planter ownership.

Both True Speed models are now available for ordering from Kinze dealers. For additional information, farmers can contact their Kinze dealer or visit kinze.com.

High levels of interest in new planter with Early Riser system for faster germination

Case IH has given the new 2000 Series Early Riser planter its first public showing at Nampo 2018, the four-day agricultural show near Bothaville, following successful pre-launch trials of the machine on four farms in South Africa last year.

Case IH also chose Nampo 2018 to introduce the new AIM Command FLEX advanced spray technology for the Patriot sprayer range. Both new products were showcased by Case IH and its South African distributor, Northmec, alongside the brand’s full line of agricultural solutions, including combines and tractors.

“The high level of interest in our new 2000 Series planter at Nampo showed this was the perfect place for its launch,” said Daniel Bordabossana, Marketing Manager for Case IH Middle East and Africa. “More than just seeing the new planter, the visitors appreciated the opportunity to hear first-hand how well the machine has performed on the farms here in South Africa, proving its advantages over the competition.”

Nampo 2018 attracted more than 700 exhibitors and more than 82,000 visitors from nations throughout the African continent. Organised by Grain South Africa and spread over 24 hectares of Nampo Park, 19 kilometres north of Bothaville, the annual event is billed as the largest show of agricultural machinery and livestock in the southern hemisphere and this year had the theme ‘technology in agriculture.’

South African farms demonstrate new planter’s precision and productivity

As with all Case IH products, the new 2000 Series Early Riser planter was subjected to rigorous trials before launch. These included field tests in South Africa, planting 200 hectares at Islardu Boerdery farm in Middelburg, Mpumalanga; 40 hectares at Charfontein farm in Vrede, Free State; 1300 hectares at Cairo Group’s farm in Koppies, Free State; and 400 hectares at the Du Preez Landgoed farm in Northwest Province.

The Du Preez Landgoed farm, located between Koster and Lichtenburg, presented particularly tough working conditions. This third-generation family business, run by 49-year-old Andre Du Preez and his sons, farms cattle and grain on 676 hectares of land with irrigation and a further 550 hectares without irrigation. The farm grows potatoes, maize, sorghum, soya beans, and dry beans, as well as wheat and dry green peas as winter crops.

All this takes place in a challenging climate, where Andre says “rainfall can’t be expected when you need it and every now and then nature throws a curveball. Planting seasons always vary and this can make the preparation for crops difficult. And my sons and I try to do all of the work ourselves – everything from the soil preparation to planting, spraying, and harvesting the crop.”

Andre acquired his first machine from Case IH, a 2388 combine harvester, in 2004, and is now also familiar with the brand’s Steiger tractors, Axial-Flow combine harvesters, and sprayers. Andre said: “We know that we can depend on Case IH equipment and customer support, and we’ve seen how the more sophisticated planters have changed farming methods in the last 10 to 20 years.”

Even so, Andre and his sons were surprised with the effectiveness of the new, 16-row, 30-inch Early Riser 2150 planter. This is the first planter to factory-integrate industry-leading seed placement technologies from Precision Planting into a system featuring an all-new, rugged row unit. As well as being extremely accurate, this machine is robust enough to deliver placement across all terrains and can be customized to a range of seed and soil types, fertilizer/chemical application needs, and crop residue management practices.

The main benefit of this technology is faster and more uniform crop emergence, and this was clearly evident in the trials at the four South African farms. Andre confirms: “Our crop germination, with crops ready to grow, was on day six – three days earlier than the competitive planters. That’s an advantage worth having!”

Another, practical everyday benefit of the 2000 Series planter is its streamlined design, with the facility to make tool-free crop changes and adjustments. “There are times when we have to work quickly,” said Andre, “and the last thing you need is delays or distractions with machinery. This was true towards the end of last year, when there was late rainfall and we had a very short window of opportunity to utilize the planter.

“We pushed the Early Riser 2150 planter to its limits to get all the hectares done. Planting maize, soybeans, sunflowers, and white kidney beans, we were happy to find the planting process was fluid and fast, with no problems or delays. We could reach planting speeds of up to 15kph and with the latest Precision Plant technology we could adjust the plant population, depth and down-pressure of the pressure wheel. Even when working in a hurry, we could maintain 99 percent singulation, with 99 percent of the seed being placed with exactly the right position, spacing, and depth.”

Case IH also showcased new spray technology and full product range

The new AIM Command FLEX® advanced spray technology also made its debut at Nampo 2018. This enables operators of the Patriot self-propelled sprayer range to deliver consistent, flexible and accurate application, regardless of speed and terrain. The Patriot® 250 Extreme sprayer, introduced to the market at Nampo 2017, was also displayed at the show.

Case IH additionally displayed at Nampo 2018 its Axial-Flow® 140 Series and 240 Series combines. Both these models – featuring the Axial-Flow single-rotor technology which revolutionised combine harvesting with its simplicity, grain quality, grain savings and crop adaptability – were wrapped in an American flag and attracted a lot of attention. Interested visitors to the Case IH stand included one of South Africa’s most famous sports stars, rugby player Bakkies Botha.

Case IH also showcased its wide range of tractors, from the popular, 36 kW JX45T Compact utility tractor all the way up to the mighty 447 kW Steiger 600 and tracked Quadtrac 600.
