The Dominator 4857 provides maximum subsoil fracture with two ranks of shanks on 18″ effective spacing providing the maximum degree of soil fraction and compaction removal compared to other tillage tools in this class that utilize wider shank spacing.

The Dominator 4861 provides maximum productivity and compaction management. Each shank is positioned between a pair of coulters increasing the quantity of soil brought to the surface by the shanks for maximum residue incorporation. Two ranks of shanks on 24″ effective spacing provide excellent compaction maintenance with optimized productivity. This shank design delivers maximum residue flow with no two shanks closer than 48″.

Both models feature the reverse-tandem disc conditioner with a new C-arm and independently mounted blades on a new 6-bolt hub for easy maintenance. This new combination of C-Arm and hub provides 10% more soil and residue flow through the disc conditioner to improve continuous operation in adverse conditions. No daily grease maintenance features have been incorporated throughout the Dominator 4857 and 4861 models, including coulter gangs, disc conditioner, and conditioner reel bearings. Double K 7″ wing or 2.5″ straight ripper points are available to increase point wear life and increase operator productivity. A new heavy-duty solid round bar conditioning reel is now available for improved durability in rocky conditions.

The Dominator 4857 is available in 10’6″ to 19’6″ RTK working widths and the Dominator 4861 is available in 14′ to 26′ RTK working widths.

AE50 awards were given to the Kuhn OptiWrap OWR 6000 inline round bale wrapper, the hydraulically adjustable windrow merger on the Kuhn FC 9330 D RA, the TwinPact plunger design on the Kuhn SB 1290iD, and the Smart Soil Technology feature on the Excelerator XT. All four machines are being recognized as some of the year’s most innovative designs in engineering products for the food and agriculture industries, earning a feature in the upcoming January/February 2022 special issue of ASABE’s magazine, Resource: Engineering & Technology for a Sustainable World.

The Kuhn OptiWrap OWR 6000 inline round bale wrapper offers exceptional wrapping productivity with industry-leading pre-stretchers that have a 70% stretch ratio to minimize film and fuel use. This higher stretch ratio provides more efficient plastic utilization and better bale compression, reducing plastic cost per bale.

The IntelliWrap system controls the wrapping process and allows the operator to easily adjust film layers, seam layers, load delay, and bale dimensions. IntelliWrap controls, combined with the optional FilmSense system, can adjust pusher and hoop speed to maintain the target layers count even if a stretcher runs out or tears film during the wrapping cycle. The BaleEye photoelectric sensor accurately and reliably detects a bale on the loading platform with no mechanically moving parts.

The hydraulically adjustable windrow merger on the Kuhn FC 9330 D RA is one of the most flexible merger systems in the triple mower conditioner segment. The belt speed and position are easily set from the cab, allowing customization of the windrow width from a narrow 5’11” to a wide 11’10”, the widest range in the industry.

Additionally, each merger conveyor can be individually folded up and out of the way to make wide windrows without merging. The self-contained hydraulic system compensates for hilly terrain with the help of an onboard inclinometer to control the belt speed.

The Kuhn SB 1290 iD TwinPact plunger offers higher bale densities without the need for a dramatically heavier baler and a substantial increase in horsepower requirement to operate the baler. The split plunger design intelligently applies the force of a standard 3×4 square baler to half the area, twice. Combined with the longer bale chamber and nine hydraulic cylinders on the iD baler, this system increases bale density. The combination of fewer, denser bales with lower fuel consumption offers customers a lower cost of operation to make heavy, high-quality bales.

Kuhn Krause Smart Soil Technology uses AEF certified ISOBUS electronic control to bring complete, on-the-go adjustment and multiple functions fine-tuning on the Excelerator XT into the tractor cab for the first time. Smart Soil Technology provides “preset only mode” with up to eight user-defined presets, which can be saved, allowing the operator to make multiple adjustments simultaneously with a simple touch of a button. The AEF certified ISOBUS software provides true plug-and-play compatibility with other certified displays and provides a compatible system from one brand tractor to another without the need for additional equipment.

A new parabolic shank is now available as an option for all 4835 models. This shank provides more surface disturbance than an MRD shank and will be useful for customers looking to incorporate significant quantities of residue. This new shank is also available with cover boards to promote even more residue incorporation. When cover boards are not fitted, a wear bar is mounted to the face of the shank to provide additional wear life.

A newly developed Minimum Residue Disturbance (MRD) shank is also available for the 4835. This shank is positioned between the no-till and parabolic shank options in terms of residue incorporation and soil disturbance. The new MRD shank utilizes the same wear bar as the no-till shank and the same 7” wing points as the parabolic shank, reducing the number of overall components across the offering for simplified inventory management.

No-till shanks are available for customers requiring the minimum of surface disturbance and residue incorporation. In addition to the ¾” standard duty shank, a 1” version is also offered for customers working in particularly hard conditions.

The 4835 features a newly designed 6” x 6” frame reinforced for additional strength. Gauge wheel adjustment has also been improved so that it is accessible from the rear of the machine without having to reach over the frame. All models feature a 3-point hitch, with 5 shanks and greater models also offering an optional pull hitch with rear lift wheels. Where a pull hitch is fitted, the machine is equipped with single front stabilizer wheels for 530R – 830F models and dual front stabilizer wheels for 930F – 1130F models as standard equipment.

The new 4835 in-line ripper sizes are available for order with first shipments being timed for fall tillage 2022.

Smart Soil Technology provides electronic adjustment of machine depth, front and rear gang angle, wing down pressure, Star Wheel pressure, and front/rear levelling from any compatible ISOBUS display. Operators can store favorite settings for all functions using eight customizable presets and then quickly switch between them during operation. A preset-only mode can be used where the customer wishes to limit the operator’s ability to adjust the machine between predetermined settings.

Although adjustments are made from the display, lifting and lowering the machine for end row turns is still carried out using the tractor SCV for maximum operator comfort. Redundant sensors are fitted to gang angle and depth circuits for backup in case of failure, and a machine equipped with Smart Soil Technology can always be converted back to manual mode, so an electronics failure will not result in a machine down situation.

Smart Soil Technology is AEF certified and can be found in the online AEF database. This database allows customers to verify the compatibility of ISOBUS functions between the machine and the terminal to be used, ensuring a true plug-and-play solution regardless of tractor brand and with no additional compatibility hardware required.

The Smart Soil Technology system is available as an option on all new KUHN Krause Excelerator orders as of June 1, 2021, with the intended season of use for spring tillage 2022.

Although always fitted with two tanks, 2208 can be ordered with single product metering for reduced cost or with dual product metering bringing the benefits of the Gen II product range to smaller strip-till units for the first time. Section control is also optional, with the choice of one or two sections being offered.

All machines will be supplied with the Montag ISOBUS dry rate controller and ISOBUS scales as standard. As with other Montag dry fertilizer systems for the 3-point mounted KUHN Krause Gladiator, 2208 will need to be mounted to a Montag steerable cart (ordered separately) and towed behind the toolbar.

The Montag 2208 can apply fertilizer at rates up to 500 lbs/acre per tank (maximum total rate: 800 lbs /acre). With no metering cartridges to change out, variation of application rate is stepless throughout the range.

As with all Montag products, the environment in which 2208 will work has been taken into account throughout the design: all components which come into direct contact with fertilizer are manufactured from either plastic or food-grade stainless steel, and all other components are designed to be resistant to corrosion and provide many years of reliable service.

The Montag 2208 is available to order from KUHN as of June 1, 2021, for use with 4-, 6- or 8-row 3-point mounted KUHN Krause Gladiators. Field install options are available for customers wishing to retrofit 2208 to an existing 1205M or 1200M series KUHN Krause Gladiator (compatible steerable cart and hitch is required).

New updates to the VT 200 Series mid-size mixers include updated front conveyors, better door-to-floor sealing, heavier high-wear auger flighting, and an EZ-mate scale system. The new ST-PRO II row units feature a simplified method of adjusting coulter alignment when correcting machine tracking issues. With just two bolts, the coulter spindle can be set to one of 3 positions: 1o left, 1o right or 0o (straight ahead). In this way, the counters are used to steer the machine and keep it running directly behind the tractor.

Units equipped with Montag dry fertilizer systems benefit from a new row unit frame design which routes the air exhaust and fertilizer dust down the back of the shank and is blown down into the soil for added nutrient retention and decreased equipment corrosion.

The ST-PRO II is equipped with a new chain mounting system that allows the end links to pivot and so evens up wear across the length of the chain, extending service life. With 50% fewer bolts holding the chains to the reel, chains are also faster than ever to replace.

Sometimes it is necessary to keep going, even in less than ideal conditions. Designed with this in mind, the Strik’R conditioner reel on the ST-PRO has a well-earned reputation for running plug free in wet soil. The ST-PRO II builds on this, and the gaps between the tabs on the reel endplates have been closed up reducing the tendency for mud to pack inside the endplates, further extending the weather window in which these machines can run and making machine clean up easier.

The ST-PRO II retains all the great features of its predecessor, such as wrenchless adjustments and zero daily maintenance. The Strik’R conditioning reel maintains a good berm and actively crushes clods whilst shedding soil, to create a uniform seedbed without plugging. The working depth range is 6” – 12”, adjustable in 1” increments and dry, liquid or anhydrous fertilizer can be placed in the strip with the ability to mix and match any two products.

The new Kuhn Krause Gladiator 1210 with ST-PRO II row units are available to order as of June 1, 2021, with intended use for spring 2022.

The new Optidisc Elite cutter bar provides a flat, streamlined profile so soil and crop residue does not accumulate, and material flows smoothly, even in difficult crop conditions. Optidisc Elite cutter bars have a very slim profile enabling short cut heights with a flat cutterbar angle to reduce the amount of dirt contamination in the crop and prolong blade life.

Kuhn FC 61 TC and TL Series mower conditioners allow operators to select between three different conditioning options to best meet their operation’s needs. The DigiDry finger conditioner provides consistent drying of grass and legume crops in various conditions with little maintenance. The Diamond Block rubber rollers have a horizontal staggered diamond pattern so there are more points for the crop to be crimped as it flows off the disc at different angles. The DoubleCrimp steel roller offers consistent crimping and even feeding of thicker crops and extended life in difficult and abrasive conditions.

The heavy-duty Gyrodine gearbox on Kuhn FC 61 Series mower conditioners is designed to withstand the most severe pull-through force from the hitch to the machine. The swivel design allows in excess of a 90° turn while keeping the PTO driveline straight. This design also allows extremely tight turns for clean, square corners while minimizing PTO vibration and wear.

The MM 01 Series builds upon the previous generation of Kuhn mergers starting with the pickup. High-capacity pickups with integrated frames treat crops gently yet have been built and tested for extreme usage. The proven split bearing design with wear guards and anti-wrap discs decreases the time needed for regular maintenance and improves pickup reliability. The floating windguard eliminates the need for operators to make adjustments when merging different crops or cuttings. Kuhn’s crop netting greatly limits leaf loss when transitioning onto the belt and into the windrow. 

Mainframes and wing arms on each merger model have been updated to allow for the most intense usage in the field. KUHN has also added new hydraulic system upgrades for greater machine capacity. 

All Kuhn’s 01 Series twin and triple merger models now include easy-to-use technology and software. The IntelliMerge system allows an operator to run, adjust, and receive machine diagnostics and feedback on an intuitive color display. The OptiSense belt stall system (optional on the MM 701) alerts the operator when the belts start to slow down when approaching the capacity of the merger. All functions of the machine including the OptiSense belt stall detection system are controlled from the ISOBUS terminal from the comfort of the cab. ISOBUS compatibility, an industry exclusive, is standard on all Kuhn twin and triple hay mergers.
