CLAAS Introduces New DISCO 9700 RC Forage Swather

CLAAS introduces the DISCO 9700 RC AUTO SWATHER with merger belts fits the DISCO mold perfectly, with special features that make it the ideal heavy-duty machine for high-yielding yet delicate crops.

The latest mower/conditioner/swather in the DISCO lineup is designed for professionals, featuring a working width of 28’10” up to 31’2” (8.80 to 9.50 m). Its ACTIVE FLOAT ground-pressure system ensures proper cut height over variable terrain. A roller conditioner with double roller drive (DRD) ensures efficient dry down in individual windrows or flexible, high-performance AUTO SWATHER merger belts, gently move the crop into a single windrow.

Capacity to Spare

The DISCO 9700 RC AUTO SWATHER has been designed specifically for large forage volumes and heavy crops up to 25 t/ac (60 t/ha) that require gentle mowing, conditioning and merging. While it’s ideal for handling alfalfa, it’s also rugged enough to tackle high-tonnage cereal crops like rye or triticale. The transmission and drivetrains feature telescopic drive shafts developed jointly with Walterscheid. With specially hardened large-diameter steel profiles they are designed for use with tractors of up to 500 hp. And the new bolt-on friction clutches make maintenance a breeze. The innovative drive line makes the DISCO 9700 RC AUTO SWATHER the most powerful mower with conditioner and merger belts on the market.

Cutting Edge Crop Flow with unique double-roll drive

The DISCO 9700 RC AUTO SWATHER features a highly efficient linear crop flow design. The roller conditioners are driven by a double roller drive with scissor gearboxes. This unique design ensures maximum throughput and durability even in the heaviest crop. The spring tension of the rolls as well as the conditioner gap is easily adjustable with a ratcheting wrench that comes with the mower.

Capable Conditioning and Merging

The conditioner on the DISCO 9700 RC AUTO SWATHER spans almost the entire width of the cutterbar to allow for a continuous linear flow without blockages. Optimized crop transfer to the 43.3”- (1100 mm-) wide reinforced merger belts ensures uniform filling of the AUTO SWATHER merger belts. This produces even, fluffy windrows which allow the forage harvester to run at peak efficiency. One or both belt units can be hydraulically folded up from the comfort of the cab. This is particularly helpful if a faster dry down is needed.

New Holland Agriculture celebrates the 60th anniversary of its first forage harvester, transforming its legendary model 818 pull-type forage harvester into a self-propelled machine known as the 818 Crop Cruiser. Since then, New Holland has been at the forefront of forage harvesting with a host of pioneering industry firsts that have revolutionized the sector.

New Holland is marking this important milestone with a 60th Anniversary Special Edition of its FR Forage Cruiser for all units produced for the next season. The machines will bear a distinctive 60th Anniversary decal to symbolize the machine’s advanced technologies and exceptional performance.

Steyr Presents the New Loader

Broader, high-specification line-up with premium features in two ranges to match Steyr tractors from Kompakt S to Absolut CVT. 20 models for all material handling, earthmoving and municipal tasks with maximum lift heights 3.5-4.7m; maximum lift capacities 1.2-2.7t; and top-spec range has a hydraulic self-leveling system

A new line-up of front loaders matching 58-240hp Steyr tractors, from the Kompakt S to the Absolut CVT, is now available from Steyr dealers, the result of a fresh approach aimed at ensuring the highest levels of customer satisfaction and support for the tractor-loader combination as a whole.

The all-new Steyr ‘S’ front loader line has been developed to enable a ‘one-stop shop’ purchase at the customer’s local Steyr dealer, allowing them to select the ideal tractor/loader combination for their specific needs. Enhanced specification and customer support mean the new range aims to even more closely match customers’ needs and their expectations of STEYR products and services.

A full range of capacities and specifications

There are 20 models across two ranges in the new STEYR ‘S’ front loader line. They are offered with premium specifications and are compatible with STEYR tractor ranges from the Kompakt S and Kompakt models, through the Multi, Expert CVT and Profi series, to the Impuls CVT and Absolut CVT. A range of implements/attachments can be ordered directly with the tractor and front loader.

The flagship T range is designed for demanding material handling work, and comprises 10 models with lift heights from 3.75m to 4.70m and lift capacities from 1,390kg to 2,720kg. A proven hydraulic self-leveling system features integral compensation cylinders connected to the implement dumping hydraulic cylinders, for high accuracy and faster cycle times. For even greater comfort an AUTO-UNLOAD System option synchronizes grab-opening and bucket-dumping functions. As they are fully routed inside the front loader frame and crossbar, the hydraulic lines are well protected from damage.

The versatile and durable U front loader range, with mechanical self-leveling, is ideal for everyday handling tasks. As with the T models, the hydraulic lines are routed inside the frame. Maximum lift heights cover 3.50-4.50m, with maximum lift capacities from 1,210-2,230kg.

For both the T and U ranges, the SHOCK Eliminator shock absorber system is standard, ensuring comfortable driving when transporting loads. The hitching and unhitching of the front loader arms is easy and quick, thanks to the automatic FITLOCK 2+ System. The numbering of the new Steyr S front loader range provides a clear explanation of each model’s capabilities. As an example, the S4020T has a maximum lifting height of 4.0 meters and a lifting capacity of 2.0 tonnes, with the ‘T’ denoting the premium range specification.

The factory-installed loader-ready kit comes with a common bracket and MACH System multi quick-coupler for fast connection of hydraulic and electrical services. Front loader control is done via the tractor hydraulic valves and joysticks with third and fourth hydraulic service functions. For better stability, a robust crossbar is standard and there are integrated engine hood guards.

John Deere Adds the All-New 18.0L Engine to New Models of Self-Propelled Forage Harvesters

John Deere is building on the proven performance and technology of the 9000 Series Self-Propelled Forage Harvesters (SPFHs) introduced three years ago. For the model year 2022, the company is adding a new 9500 model to its lineup; changing to a new, more powerful 18.0L John Deere 18X engine for the 9500 and 9600 models; and making other changes to boost its 9000 Series SPFH lineup.

According to Chase Milem, John Deere marketing manager for forage harvesters, these updates to the 9000 Series portfolio give customers more choices in machines with the power, durability, and technology features they want to harvest high-quality forage.

“Customers want rugged, high-capacity forage harvesters that provide constant maximum throughput with fewer blockages and downtime for service and maintenance, along with the ability to monitor, adjust and document processing of the forage for optimal feed value. From top to bottom, 9000 Series Self-Propelled Forage Harvesters deliver on those needs with comfort and performance,”

Milem explains.

The new 9500 has a rated power of 690 horsepower and a HarvestMotion Plus rating of 755 horsepower, generated by the inline 6-cylinder 18.0L John Deere 18X engine that does not require DEF.

“This is a state-of-the-art engine with our HarvestMotion Plus feature that synchronizes engine speed with crop flow and power needs to maintain consistent crop throughput at low RPMs and with less fuel consumption, and no DEF requirement,”

says Milem.

In addition, the 18.0L engine has a long 750-hour service interval and a 33% lower oil cost compared to the previous 13.5L engine and reduced total fluid consumption by 10% to 13%. All MY22 9600 forage harvesters will feature the 18.0L engines with HarvestMotion Plus, which will boost their horsepower and performance with a rated power of 740 horsepower and a max power rating of 775 horsepower, significantly higher than the previous 9600 model. The 9600 in 2022 will be available on a limited basis with full production in 2023.

Also for MY22 9500 and 9600 models, customers will see changes to the spout that will improve crop flow and operator visibility while enhancing control during unloading. The redesign includes additional cleanouts, a new hydraulic spout flap to give operators precise control during unloading, and four spout configuration options, including 8- and 10-row rigid, 12-row rigid, and 12-row folding spouts.

“While we’ve added the new model, engine, and spout design, what hasn’t changed with the 9000 Series is their incredible harvesting performance. We’ve kept all the high-performance, field-proven components, like the DuraDrum cutting system, proven kernel processing options, and HarvestLab 3000 constituent sensing and documentation, that customers count on to cut the quality feed,”

continues Milem.

Front-end equipment and options also remain the same for the new 9500 and updated 9600. These include the 600 Series small drum headers, 700 Series big drum headers, and the industry-leading 6×9 Pick-up.

“From a technology standpoint, the 9000 Series is the most advanced SPFH John Deere has ever produced. Each model comes equipped from the factory with a 4G JDLink MTG (modem). Once activated, customers can stream their machine and crop data to their John Deere Operations Center account free of charge. This also lets owners monitor their equipment via the Operations Center mobile app in near real-time from anywhere. With the customer’s permission, their local John Deere dealer can provide remote support via John Deere Connected Support. This provides customers with valuable machine health monitoring and fleet management tools,”

Milem says.

When ordered guidance ready, AutoTrac RowSense can be field activated to keep the machine in the right row, regardless of conditions, and helps maximize time in the field by improving harvest efficiency and yield quality while reducing operator fatigue.

Kverneland 6500F High-Performance Fixed Chamber Balers for Wet Silage Conditions

Kverneland has updated its round baler product range with the introduction of a new high-capacity fixed chamber baler targeted at professional farmers and contractors.

Designed for use in heavy silage conditions the Kverneland 6500F incorporates an 18 roller bale chamber – increased from 17 rollers in previous models, with two rollers located in the bottom of the bale chamber to give extra support for heavy, wet silage bales. Bale density is taken care of by a new hydraulic density system designed to ensure consistent bale quality in all conditions.

Bale Production on a New Level

Extensive knowledge from many years in the baler business has been incorporated into the new Kverneland 6500F fixed chamber baler from Kverneland. Unrivaled bale
quality, superb output, and outstanding reliability are key features provided by the fully
optimized design.

The production of high-quality bales is key to efficient operation. Experienced baling professionals will appreciate the well-formed, dense bales. They don’t just look good,
but they are better to wrap, stack and transport, giving benefits all the way down the
line, maximizing forage quality and the feed value of valuable crops.

High Capacity Pick-Up

Despite its class-leading working width, transport width remains narrower than rivals due to an innovative internal drive system – there’s no need to remove or fold the guide wheels prior to road transport, making your life easier and reducing downtime.

The low-profile reel effectively gets under the shortest crops, while five rows of closely spaced tines provide clean raking even in the toughest working conditions.

Compact internal Drive System

The Kverneland 6500F pick-up features a patented internal drive system. This offers multiple advantages compared to conventional systems:

Overall width is reduced as the drive sprocket is contained within the guide flares, so pickup wheels do not need to be removed for transport. (Although onboard storage is also provided for those really tight spots)
The twin-cam tracks are located on the outside of the pick-up frame, allowing for easy access to both the cam itself and the cam follower bearings.
The large diameter drive sprocket results in reduced wear potential compared to separate externally mounted sprockets.
There is no ‘dead area’ at the outside of the pickup to potentially restrict crop flow.

Extra capacity in all Crop Conditions

Reduced power requirement compared to previous models is provided by a new design of cutting floor, which features a smoother profile for improved crop flow. Enjoy hassle-free blockage clearance with Kverneland’s patented parallelogram drop floor system.

Its unique action gives increased clearance when lowered, not just at the rear like conventional drop floors, but also at the front, so you are quickly back baling again.

Individual Knife Protection

Each knife is individually spring protected against foreign obstacles, giving a higher level of protection than systems that protect only the complete knife bank. In the event of contact with a foreign object such as a stone, the knife will deflect.

When the obstacle has passed, the knife automatically resets. Working with or without knives can be selected from the comfort of the tractor seat, with the monitor showing the status of the knives at all times.

Heavy-duty trailed turntable wrapper BW 2600 is ideal for users that wrap large numbers of bales, but still prefer the simplicity of the turntable wrapping system. It is designed for high output operation even in rough or hilly conditions.

HSP is a combination of two developments (DuoWrap and OptiSpeed).

The first, DuoWrap allows wrapping with two film rolls at the same time. Achieving film overlap of 66%, the time to cover the bale is reduced by one-third. The second development, named OptiSpeed, is electronic control of the wrapper table rotation speed.

The High-Speed Pack (HSP) now brings the output capacity of a turntable wrapper close to the working speed of a satellite wrapper in the best working conditions, but at a more reasonable cost.

GK Spread Pro

This professionally designed spreader easily spreads baits, seed, trace elements, and various types of fertilizer. It attaches easily behind an ATV/UTV or tractor and holds over 700 lbs. of product and will spread over 30 feet in width. The spreader also has a stainless steel frame, hopper, and spinner for easy carefree maintenance. The unique drive system ensures trouble-free and reliable operator safety and stability. Options available include: a hopper cover tarp, various tire/wheel options, and various speed controllers. The hopper stands at a 52” tall, length 92” and shipping weight of 500 lbs.

An Update on Vicon Andex 705 Evo + Vario

High comfort was the core of the development. Starting with comfortable connecting of the machine and continues with, for example, an automatic folding of the swath board and an optional hydraulic transport locking. Further, the standard 380/55-17 Wheels secure a ground protecting operation. On top of improved steering gives you better maneuverability in the field. Several options like tandem axles support customizing the machine for individual requirements.

With the updated feature “Terralink PLUS”, the cardanic rotor attachment benefits with a further advanced ground adaptation supported by the Jet-Effect. This PLUS on advanced ground adaptation delivers more flexibility with 8° more movement possibility, which leads to more precision and, with that, consequently a Plus for the forage quality. The Jet-Effect, comparable to the starting and landing of an aeroplane, ensures a smooth and clean raking but also avoids a ground clearance of around 500 mm that swaths on headlands are being damaged.

Andex 705 Evo is offering high flexibility due to the side delivery. With the unique rotor set up of having a smaller rotor in the back, larger areas can be raked into one row. The different diameter prevents rolling and wrapping as much as possible. This secures that the following machines can always run at maximum capacity. With the Vario, the flexibility increase as two swaths can be placed, either for small balers in high crop volume or night swaths, to increase hay quality.
