Magni America has opened a new facility in Pasadena, TX, parent company Magni Group announced. The new location will serve as Magni America’s main spare parts and machine distribution facility for North America.

Located at 5585 Bay Oaks Drive in Pasadena, TX, the new location was chosen because of its “highly strategic geographic position with easy access to both the Port of Galveston and major airports,” the company said in a statement.

The deal also included 4.15 acres of land which, according to Magni, will be used for future growth as needed.

The Texas facility joins Magni America’s current New Jersey-based U.S. headquarters which, in addition to corporate functions, also serves as a spare part and machine distribution location. Magni has also announced it is scheduled to break ground for a new headquarters in Q1 of 2022.

Components can be produced quickly and efficiently, reducing cost and lead time

CNH Industrial Reman recently added a 3D printer to its manufacturing facility. With the technology growing at an incredible rate, the new 3D printer offers CNH Reman the capability to produce a vast array of complex and custom components, fixtures, and tools.

As CNH Reman continues to develop its 3D printer capabilities and testing, the company anticipates expansion to the production of component parts that will be assembled into high-quality, finished products for its customers.

“These components typically come at a high cost due to minimum buy quantity restrictions or vendor upcharge for a small batch. The 3D printer will allow us to produce lower volume components in our facility at a reduced cost. The design flexibility will also allow our engineering team to make modifications to these components to improve performance and quality. In turn, producing a better product at a lower cost of ownership,”

said Jeremy Kelley, product engineering manager at CNH Industrial Reman.

In addition, each component, fixture, or tool can also be produced almost immediately within the CNH Reman facility, which reduces cost and long lead times.

CNH Reman is currently working through the setup process and producing prototypes with the 3D printer. To date, CNH Reman successfully produced tooling and fixtures to aid with production and component measurement processes. As the technology continues to advance, CNH Reman believes 3D printers will offer multiple opportunities for advancement in reman products.

“The possibilities of 3D printing are nearly limitless. The expansion of material types and size envelope can offer an endless opportunity in reman product life. This will help to keep our customers’ machines running throughout their lifespan,”

said Kelley.

Hundreds of Doosan Bobcat employees across several North American locations recently volunteered cumulatively more than 1,500 hours, utilizing Bobcat equipment and their talents to different projects and organizations to complete “Doosan Days of Community Service.” This companywide volunteer effort celebrates ongoing partnerships within communities where Doosan Bobcat employees, dealers, and customers live and work. The volunteer efforts took place over two weeks, kicking off on June 7th and wrapping up on June 18th.

“Being a good corporate citizen is an ongoing responsibility and something we take great pride in at Doosan Bobcat. These projects will have a lasting impact and we are proud of our employees for volunteering their time and talents to make a difference in their communities,”

said Nicol Winkelman, vice president of human resources.

Over the course of the service days held this year, more than 260 Doosan Bobcat employees in North America volunteered in the community efforts, supporting nearly 30 nonprofit organizations.

Employee volunteers were tasked with projects that included; helping various nonprofit organizations; working with local food banks and soup cafes; completing construction projects; and performing various landscaping and cleanup work at community recreational facilities, therapeutic riding stables, and shelters.

National projects and participation were organized by Doosan Bobcat facility locations in and around Bismarck, Gwinner, Fargo, and Wahpeton, North Dakota; Litchfield, Minnesota; Suwanee, Georgia; Johnson Creek, Wisconsin; Statesville, North Carolina; and Denver, Colorado. In some projects, Bobcat skid-steer loaders, compact track loaders, and other machines were used in the efforts, outfitted with everything from buckets to augers and other dirt-moving and land-shaping attachments.

Doosan Bobcat employs approximately 4,500 people at 13 facilities in seven states and has long believed it is important for the company and its employees to support the many organizations that help enhance the communities where dealers, customers, and employees live and work.

Through these efforts, Doosan Bobcat teams also have the chance to build relationships not only with each other, but with people and organizations in their surrounding communities.

“Our employees are inspired to identify the needs in the community and to investing time and resources to help improve the lives of people in our communities. This is an important part of our culture and commitment to giving back as a community partner,”

Winkelman said.

Stellar has retained the employees of Mason City, and the company will add more to meet growth objectives. The Mason City facilities will continue to manufacture current products such as Stud King header trailers and Roose utility construction trailers. Additionally, Stellar Management is developing plans to utilize the increased space for the rapidly growing production demand of existing Stellar-branded products. For example, immediate plans will consolidate American Eagle Utility Construction Trailer production into the 270,000 square-foot facilities.

“We have grown tremendously over the past several years and need additional production capacity to meet current and future demand. The people, facilities, and products of the Mason City facility will be valuable assets as we continue to expand. The Stellar team has made incredible strides in productivity over the past few years. We are excited to see what our powerful team can do with this encouraging acquisition,”

said David W. Zrostlik, President of Stellar Industries.

Dawn Equipment has begun moving into its new factory in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The facility is a former Caterpillar manufacturing plant, which Caterpillar moved out of in 2017.

“This is a magnificent, old manufacturing space with overhead cranes and a long area where we are going to manufacture our full-size implements,”

says Joe Bassett, CEO of Dawn Equipment.

He says the market for facilities that are ready to accommodate the production of 40-60-foot implements, like Dawn’s full-size strip-till bar the Black Dawn One, is fairly limited, making the Milwaukee location all the more special.

“The interesting thing about Milwaukee is there’s such a legacy of heavy equipment manufacturing. You have all the pieces you need right here, in terms of steel, heat treating, and the labor pool. It’s a really amazing ecosystem of manufacturers,”

he says.

“I’m in awe of the scale of the location we’re moving into. The shovels that dug the Panama Canal were built right on that same floor. You have that legacy of American manufacturing that we can bring back to life by building something big again in these historic plants.”

Bassett plans to run a research and development site on the premises as well, allowing Dawn to run tractors and validate equipment.

The facility has 75,000 square feet, with Bassett planning to have 25 employees at the plant by 2022. He says it will be a challenge finding welding talent.

“There aren’t enough young people going into the skilled trades anymore. So we’re going to have to bring in some senior, high-skill people while building a pool of more junior welding talent at the same time,”

he says.

Bassett gives credit to the Milwaukee 7 Economy Development Group for helping get Dawn settled in southeast Wisconsin.

“The Milwaukee 7 Economy Development Group has been super helpful, in terms of connecting us with different suppliers and people who are helping with recruiting and interfacing with Milwaukee and Wisconsin economic development groups,”

he says.

Bassett is keeping an ear to the ground concerning the plant owner’s other development plans, including the possibility of a restaurant on the premises. He continues,

“There’s a beautiful, historic building on the premises that they’re talking with the City of South Milwaukee about potentially turning into a brewery or restaurant. I think that would be amazing to have farmers come in, check out the plant, see the equipment being built, then grab a beer and a burger.”

He says the new facility is part of the company’s broader strategy to transition away from aftermarket attachments and “more into the OEM space.” Bassett says Dawn’s row unit production will remain at its Sycamore, Ill., facilities, with those row units to be mated to the frames produced at the Milwaukee plant.

“Over the next 5 years, you’ll see us sell more complete whole goods as opposed to attachments. Dawn Equipment has been defined as an ‘attachment manufacturer’ for a long time,”

he adds.

He says the company aims to produce 10 units of the Black Dawn One in 2021, followed by 20 units in 2022.

The move toward full-size implements is part of Dawn Equipment’s 5-year plan to double the size of the company, which will also include introducing planter row units and eventually its own high-speed planter.
