]]> A project funded through USDA’s ReConnect rural broadband infrastructure program has firstly announced in Tennessee. 

The project has a powerful impact throughout Crockett, Dyer, and Lauderdale counties as the residents, farmers, and business owners will no longer have to drive in towards Memphis to get anything better than dial-up speeds. That’s going to have a positive cascading effect on agricultural sectors, small business and commerce, as well as education and health care, public safety.

ReConnect is a key component to improving our rural economy not just in Tennessee, but across the US nation.

Pugh Farms is a cotton producer in Halls, Tennessee. It is estimated that the investment in rural broadband infrastructure will benefit precision agriculture by not only opening up these producers to instantaneous geolocation and soil/crop health data, but also opening them to the global marketplace. This could have an impact of up to $65 billion nationwide in economic growth in the agricultural sector. Courtesy of USDA
