The chromate-free chemical process transforms the physical properties of the aluminum housing to create a surface that is up to 7 times harder than the original aluminum. The additional sealant adds resistance to acids and alkalis, will not spread corrosion, and unlike paint, will not flake or chip.

NORD’s Screw Conveyor Package (SCP) offers a cost-effective drive solution that minimizes parts and eliminates belted input systems to provide easier system maintenance, increased reliability, and superior drive performance. The combination of closely stepped ratios and a directly coupled gear motor or NEMA C-face input improves system efficiency in a more compact design.

The Screw Conveyor Package design is available for both CLINCHER Parallel Shaft gear units and Helical-Bevel Right Angle gear units. SCP drive options feature a UNICASE gearbox housing, an optimized sealing system, and optional high capacity output bearings with CEMA standard flange mounting and CEMA drive shafts. Drives are protected from debris via dual Viton gap seals and driveshaft material evacuation ports on the CEMA flange assembly.

MAXXDRIVE Industrial Gear Units – MAXXDRIVE Industrial Gear Units are used wherever high torques are required. These units have high power density and torques of up to 2,495,900 lb-in, a rugged one-piece UNICASE housing, and high axial and radial load capacities. MAXXDRIVE units are available as parallel shaft, helical bevel, or right-angle units and are ideal for the harsh conditions that bulk material handling conveyors operate in. MAXXDRIVE units are also built for long service life, offer several mounting positions,
and cater to the needs of various installation requirements. All bearings and sealing surfaces are machined in a single process which eliminates separating joints in the housing, allowing for reduced spare parts costs and reduced downtime.

Also available with our MAXXDRIVE units is the Endurance Package. This package combines several additional protective measures that further ensure long life for the units. Features include a drying agent filter, oil inspection glass, oil sample point, quick fit filter trolley connection, and an oil drain cock.

UNICASE Bevel Gear Units – NORD helical bevels are made of a UNICASE cast-iron housing which offers unmatched reliability. These units range from 0.16 – 200 HP, provide up to 442,500 lb-in of torque, and ensure long service life and low maintenance. Helical bevel units can be foot, flange, or shaft mounted with the hollow, solid shaft, and keyless bore options. Keyless shaft designs are available with both Shrink Disc and the GRIPMAXXTM Keyless Bushing System.

NORD bevel units also offer an integrated backstop option to ensure that material only flows in one direction. With 11 available case sizes, NORD’s helical bevel units are flexible enough to meet your application needs.

NORD CLINCHER Parallel Shaft Gear Units – NORD’s CLINCHER units provide ultimate efficiency and economy for bulk material handling systems. These UNICASE units are available with cast-iron or aluminum housings and guarantee long life cycles, quiet operation, and low maintenance. Ranging from 0.16 – 200 HP with torques of up to 680,000 lb-in, CLINCHERs provide high power density in a compact design. They can

GRIPMAXX – GRIPMAXX offers many benefits for the bulk material handling industry. It eliminates the typical assembly and disassembly challenges of using interference fits by providing generous clearances to ensure easy installation and removal of the gearbox. The keyless design also eliminates key/keyway failures and fretting corrosion.

The GRIPMAXX system also allows the reduction of variants while still providing a wide
range of bore sizes. Screw Conveyor Package – The NORD Screw Conveyor Package (SCP) is available with both bevel and CLINCHER gear units and offers a compact, cost-effective alternative to traditional screw conveyor drives.

Closely stepped speed reduction ratios combined with a directly coupled gear motor or NEMA C-face input design eliminate the need for top motor mounts, pulleys, belts, or guards. Based on NORD’s UNICASE design, all speed reducer housings are constructed of rigid, one-piece cast iron that resists deflection under the heaviest loading conditions. All bearings and seal seats are contained within the single casting, eliminating splits or bolt-on carriers that can weaken the housing or allow oil leakage. This minimizes parts inventory and eliminates belted input systems for easier system maintenance, increased reliability, and superior drive performance.

NORDAC FLEX Variable Frequency Drive (SK 200E) – The NORDAC FLEX is NORD’s most flexible VFD. With fully scalable functions, it can be easily tailored to any application. Installation and maintenance of the NORDAC FLEX are incredibly fast and easy due to its wide range of functions and easy parameter transfer via EEPROM memory. The VFD ranges from 0.33 – 30 HP and can be wall or motor mounted. Available in protection class IP55 or IP66, the NORDAC FLEX is engineered to perform at the highest level.

2022 models feature the improved TA22 transmission by Cat. This powershift transmission has less restrictive torque protection in lower gears, a more consistent inching pedal, and increased torque ratings. The clutch capacity has also increased which results in 3% more torque in 3rd gear, 5% more torque in 4th gear, and 10% more torque in 5th gear.

An advanced hydraulic configuration with center located connections, six hydraulic couplers, one ¾ coupler, and a case drain will be included on all new units. Optional features include Power Beyond, two additional ¾ couplers, dual case drains, and a high-flow hydraulic system. This flexible and robust setup puts farmers in control of implement options, specifically enhancing the performance of air drills on Versatile tractors.

All DeltaTrack and four-wheel drive and models include multiple cab improvements. The tractors feature a more comfortable seat, audio system enhancements, and an available 12” monitor. Additional options include dual rotary beacons, cell phone holders, and toolboxes. New LED lighting packages feature almost three times more lumens on the Deluxe Package (than the standard), and more than four times the lumens on the Deluxe Plus Package, which includes 21 lights producing more than 45,000 lumens total. These superior lighting systems allow for longer hours, less fatigue, and better visibility.

An updated decal design and color scheme changes give the tractors a modern and aggressive appearance. The most notable change is the black frame. Versatile’s model year 2022 tractors have been designed to combine power, comfort, and style.

Production of the model year 2022 tractors begins this fall and are available for order now from Versatile dealers. Preview showings are scheduled for the Farm Progress Show (Decatur, Illinois) and Agri-Trade (Red Deer, Alberta).

MOBOTIC – Mobile Robotic Technologies – is a company exclusively dedicated to Mobile Robotic applications on the level of key Systems and components. Integrated steered traction unit is an established concept for indoor omnidirectional mobile robots. This made the main challenge for Mobotic engineers to make it more protected and robust for harsher outdoor agricultural environments without losing the performance, compactness, and compliance with all safety industrial standards applicable to indoor and outdoor electric mobile machinery.

The unit has a load capacity of up to 1.000kg with up to 500Nm of maximum torque on the wheels and has two main sub-systems: steering disc and traction unit. The steering disc is able to output an incredible torque of 200Nm and ensure rotary movements at well over 90deg/s. The steering disc integrates a slip ring system for endless rotation and at the same eliminates all well-known cabling challenges. The slip ring not only transmits the power supply, but also CAN communication and safety-critical signals from the vehicle safety controller.

The traction unit integrates a brushless PM synchronous motor specially designed for traction applications with a wide torque-speed range of optimum efficiency, high-quality planetary gearbox for integration inside the wheel, integrated electro-magnetic parking and emergency brake with an optional manual release lever and position sensor with outputs for motor control and speed supervision.

There are several configuration possible providing a wide torque-speed range exceeding 500Nm of torque and 15km/h of translational motion

Both brushless steering and traction motors are controlled by integrated motor controllers. On top of all this Mobotic can offer a VCU (Vehicle Control Unit) designed especially for electric vehicles, plus a powerful master computer that can control and supervise the complete 4WD with eight drives in real-time. VCU can act as a master vehicle computer controlling also other systems like BMS, battery charger, auxiliary motors (pumps, actuators, etc…).

A very sophisticated system, but assembled from best and proven sub-components, it shortens the validation times at the manufacturers of agricultural mobile robots and also enables the scalability of the solution for reasonable engineering cost.

Volvo Penta is requesting images, videos and stories from boaters enjoying the versatility of the Volvo Penta Forward Drive in a user-generated content campaign titled “Be a Featured Forward Driver.”

Entrants will be eligible to win a variety of prizes, such as a GoPro HERO8 camera or a wakesurf board. Contributed content will be shared across Volvo Penta’s robust social media fan base. The contest runs now through October 15.

The contest is part of a new campaign titled “360 Degrees of Fun” that aims to build on the Forward Drive’s market momentum. The multi-media campaign highlights the breakthrough engineering design that turned the propellers 180 degrees, enabling Volvo Penta to deliver a complete, full circle of adventure on the water. Regardless of a boater’s activity preference – whether it’s wakesurfing, cruising, fishing, picnicking or jumping off a spacious swimming platform – it’s all possible with a single boat.

Anyone who has experienced the fun of the Volvo Penta Forward Drive – whether as a passenger or captain – is encouraged to enter the contest. Images and videos can be from the current boating season or memories from past adventures. The only requirement is that each submission showcase the enjoyment that comes from time spent on a Forward Drive-powered boat.
