AGCO Corporation announced its exhibit on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., on March 21-22, as part of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers’ (AEM) Celebration of Modern Agriculture event.

Agriculture equipment manufacturers and AEM partners in the Washington D.C. ag community will showcase how “innovation enables sustainability” in the nation’s capital. The event will take place outside USDA headquarters between the Smithsonian Museums and will feature America’s farmers, ranchers, and agriculture innovators on the cutting-edge of science and technology.

These new machines are manufactured at the Vermeer manufacturing facility in Tianjin, China, and built with the same high-quality parts and components that Vermeer is known for around the world. The new naming structure indicates a new generation of pipeline drills from Vermeer for the emerging markets that come with several enhanced features that enable high functionality, productivity, and ease of use.

“We understand that operators in Asia, Latin America, and other developing nations are looking for a drill that’s specifically for their market. That’s why we designed the D130S and D60S with the power and productivity they have; so that operators in these areas could have drills that meet their needs,”

The need for the D130S and D60S came from hearing that operators in developing nations needed a way to facilitate greater connectivity and support the development of both rural and urban areas. With new infrastructure needing to be developed, including telecommunications (fiber optics), water, electricity, gas, and oil pipeline installations across varying ground conditions and locations, a new machine was necessary to take on challenging, large-diameter drilling projects without worrying about space restrictions. Both drills are capable of tackling those infrastructure projects. They are also designed to keep surface disruption to a minimum, which helps in densely populated or residential areas.

“We wanted to create machines that built upon their predecessors, still delivered the same high manufacturing quality, and were specific to operators drilling in developing nations. These drills are compact, powerful, and productive enough to appeal to operators large and small, and I believe can make a big difference in a company’s drilling capabilities and efficiencies,”

explained Rafferty.

These units will be available in select nations throughout Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, and select countries in Europe.

The D130S is equipped with 130,000 lb (578,200 kN) of thrust and pullback and 15,000 ft-lb (20,337 Nm) of rotational torque, helping it penetrate through different and difficult terrains.

The D60S has 60,000 lb (266.9 kN) of thrust and pullback and 9,000 ft-lb (12,202.4 Nm) of rotational torque, helping it penetrate through different and difficult terrains. This power makes it one of the most powerful drills in its class.

Another enhancement made to both drills is the PLUS+1 control system to maximize precision and reliability. Paired with the drill’s AutoSteer system, which automates certain drill head motions, it allows operators to set and adjust rotation duration and direction while maintaining a pre-set thrust pressure to get through hard ground conditions. To top it off, the console design of the drill was updated to provide a user-friendly bore path adjustment experience for the operator.

Other features on the D130S include an operator-controlled rod loader, climate-controlled cab, optional crane, and optional front-mounted stakedown system.

The additional features on the D60S include a tethered remote control, ease of serviceability, three-speed gearbox, operator-controlled rod loader, and climate-controlled cab.

This furrow press comes with hydraulically adjustable steering sensitivity for working in hilly terrain or with GPS-controlled tractors. This enables precise, reliable pass alignment. The true-tracking performance of this furrow press reduces driver strain, as there is no need to counter-steer in difficult conditions.

The VarioPack steering is preloaded mechanically or optionally via a hydraulic cylinder with a nitrogen accumulator. This allows the pressure to be adjusted so that the furrow press, which is adapted to the current working conditions, is safely and reliably returned to its central position and ensures precise pass alignment. This is particularly important when working on slopes or if you want to prevent movement caused by a delayed response to the steering movements of a GPS-controlled tractor.

Lemken has retained the time-tested hubless furrow press design. The first models to be released from mid-2022 onwards will be a rigid version with working widths of 2.50 to 4 metres and a ring diameter of 90 centimetres, and a folding version with a ring diameter of 70 or 90 centimetres and working widths between 4 and 6 metres.

Optimum manoeuvrability

An extremely compact design and the intelligent configuration of the seed hopper give the seed drill excellent manoeuvrability. Even with dual wheels, it is possible to turn straight into the next pass. The shortened, low design of the hopper and the integration of the packer into the chassis ensure fast, space-saving turns at the headland.

Flexible operation with a single shoot

The newly designed AEROSEM pressurised metering system is designed for the highest application rates. This system ensures exact seed flow rates regardless of the type of seed or the working conditions. Each side of the hopper features a separate metering system – but feeds the same single shoot seed line. The metering systems can be controlled independently of each other. Two components can be applied simultaneously. Moreover, two application maps can be used for site-specific drilling.

Proven DUAL DISC coulters

The DUAL DISC double disc coulter system ensures precise seed placement even in the most difficult conditions. The large counters are slightly offset and form a clean and tidy seed slot. The maintenance-free, equal-length coulter arms with an ab offset of 30 cm ensure maximum reliability even with a high level of plant residues. With up to 60 kg applied to each seed coulter, reliable cutting through is guaranteed at high driving speeds. The V-shaped seed slot prevents the seed from rolling.

Junttan recognized an increase in drilled shafts in the North American foundation market and wanted to expand beyond its traditional line of piling rigs and hammers to meet the changing needs of its contractor customers. The new line of XCMG drilling rigs allows the company to provide equipment and tooling for both driven and drilled pile foundations. These rigs are designed for Kelly drilling, continuous flight auger (CFA), full displacement piles (FDP), single-column mixing (SCM), cased CFA (CCFA), and low headroom applications. Junttan USA also expects to eventually expand its technology to perform cutter soil mixing for diaphragm wall applications.

The XCMG line of drilling rigs has a large range of operating weights from 45 to 200 tons and torque values between 130 and 800 kNm. All are outfitted with Cummins engines and will be Tier 4 or greater to comply with emission standards in the U.S. Junttan USA has access to the Cummins InSite software for troubleshooting and diagnostics. This allows all engine service to be performed by Junttan technicians with no outside support from a Cummins dealer. All new products will be backed by a one-year/2,000-hour warranty and handled directly through Junttan USA.

Junttan USA will provide service, and stock a comprehensive inventory of parts for the XCMG product line at its Delaware and Florida locations. XCMG has also committed to stocking parts at its locations in Nevada, Texas, and Minnesota.

Sustainable and efficient

There are good reasons to promote the establishment of additional crops or to apply extra nutrients whilst seeding. An additional crop will suppress weed growth but not compete with the leading crop. The extra crop catches the mineral nitrogen in the soil, as well as air nitrogen when mixing with leguminous plants, transforming it into organic nitrogen. Thus, nitrogen will still be available for the next crops. Fertilizers are applied with precision to support plant growth, specifically during youth development avoiding its wash-out into groundwater

All this will be a major contribution to sustainable farming by encouraging root development, reducing the risk of erosion, and increasing biodiversity and humus content. Sustainability will protect farmers’ most valuable asset: the soil. Utmost efficiency and cost-saving are achieved by the combined application of various types of seeds and/or fertilizer all in one pass.

Wide scope of application

There is a wide scope of application and numerous possible variations for this integrated seed drill:

Already the e-drill maxi plus, as the combined grain and fertilizer model of the power harrow mounted seed drill, is equipped with a divided hopper with an adjustable ratio of 60:40, 70:30, or 100:0 and two independently working metering devices.

By integrating the a-drill, an additional extra seeder comes into play and offers a multiple choice of combinations: Two types of material are precisely deposited by the CX-II double-entry colter (2 distribution heads) on the e-drill maxi plus; whereas the third type of material is applied via the baffle plate from the integrated a-drill into the soil flow of the following harrow:

Flexible adjustments

The a-drill has 8 outputs which will spread the flow of seeds or fertilizer by the baffle plate uniformly into the soil flow of the following harrow over the entire working width.

The a-drill is delivered with different types of rotors: for small seeds (rape, mustard, cabbage, clover, etc.), medium rotors for seeds like vetch, grass, or sunflowers, and for large seeds (peas, horse beans, etc.) or fertilizer. The agitator placed above the rotor ensures a steady stream of seeds. A brush, located at the base of the rotor, will regulate the flow and improve the setting accuracy. Up to 8 different rotors are available for fine, medium, and large-sized seeds.

Flexible and agronomic soil management

Gang angles are mechanically or hydraulically adjustable from zero to 12 degrees to match the operator’s desired field finish — spring or fall. From the tractor cab, operators can adjust the front gangs independently from the rear gangs to further vary residue coverage and field finish. Additionally, 20-inch, shallow-concavity fluted blades help cut residue at shallow gang angles, cutting and mixing residue with soil for faster breakdown.

Rugged cast-iron nodular spools and large arbor bolts make for greater durability, and the TigerPaw Crumbler roller features a proven spring down pressure design with formed bars to add strength under any conditions. Additionally, a powder coat paint finish provides greater resistance to impact, scratching, fading, and in-field wear and tear.

Crews were drilling noticeably faster than before because the system is providing a better flow of mud into the borehole, so we’ve made the new pump and engine a permanent fixture in our drill lineup,”

The new pump and engine come standard on the LS200H and LS200H+ hydraulic water well drills and are an optional upgrade for the LS100 and LS200 mechanical water well drills. A 10-horsepower Yanmar L100N diesel option is also available to power the Flomax on the LS200H and LS200H+.

The new Flomax 10 pump paired with the 8-horsepower engine provides 61 psi and 200 gallons of mud flow per minute, an upgrade of nearly 20 psi, and an additional 50 gallons of flow per minute. The Flomax features a 2-by-2-inch inlet and outlet and incorporates tighter tolerances to handle the increased pressure from the larger engine. 

Haynes said the increased pressure allows the new pump setup to not only quickly fill the borehole with a column of mud to remove cuttings more efficiently during drilling but also handles thicker mud than the previous pump system. This provides crews with increased borehole stability as it replaces the dirt removed during drilling.

Lone Star Drills’ LS200H and LS200H+ water well drills are capable of drilling depths of 200 feet, borehole diameters of six inches and pull/push-back forces up to 5,000 pounds. The first drills in the Lone Star hydraulic lineup, the LS200H and LS200H+ feature 2,500- and 3,000-psi hydraulic systems respectively. Both drills can be upgraded with a down-the-hole hammer kit, anchor kit, wheel kit and more.

Amazone is now offering two new rigid models of its trailed Ceus disc & tine combination cultivator in working widths of 3 m and 4 m. The successful combination of discs and tines can therefore also be used on smaller farm sizes and with tractors from 150 HP. The new Ceus 3000-TX and Ceus 4000-TX are equipped with central running gear and impress with their precision and versatility for both stubble and primary soil tillage, deep loosening, and seedbed preparation.

The combination of discs and tines means that the Ceus produces a perfect mix at working speeds of up to 15 km/h. Straw, stubble, or catch crops are finely shredded by the up-front discs and then, in conjunction with the following tine segment, the organic matter is evenly mixed, even where large quantities prevail. This combination of tools enables the Ceus to create the best conditions for rapid decomposition and excellent field emergence with minimal disease pressure on the following sowing operation.

The principle of functionality in detail

The leading disc element is equipped with large diameter discs which shred the organic matter and leave a fine crumbed soil structure for optimum sowing conditions. The discs are available in smooth and serrated versions and, thanks to the individual suspension, ensure a high level of through-passage and good contour following during their intensive cultivation. The stone release system via rubber spring elements is maintenance-free.

With a tine spacing of 40 cm, the following tine segment reliably incorporates any organic matter, even in large quantities, and is easy to pull while maintaining a high level of through-passage. The depth of the tines can be adjusted down to 30 cm. However, it is also possible to work shallowly, so that the point runs just below the working depth of the disc harrow in wet and heavy conditions.

This loosens the horizon and creates a rough structure in the soil, thereby significantly reducing the risk of capping on these types of soil. A selection of different C-Mix shares is available for the tine segment. The extensive range offers the right share for every area of application. Plus, the C-Mix Clip quick-change system, which enables the points to be exchanged easily and conveniently, is also offered. Various hard-wearing HD shares are also available for extended service life.

The C-Mix Super tines are equipped with a pressure spring overload safety protection system for high levels of operational reliability, even under the toughest of conditions. As an option, the new C-Mix Ultra tines with automatic overload protection via hydraulic cylinders can also be specified for the Ceus-TX.

Here the trip force can be infinitely adjusted up to 800 kg. On the one hand, this ensures that the desired working depth of up to 30 cm is precisely maintained. Whereas on the other, the C-Mix Ultra system protects the cultivator from extreme loads by means of highly-damped resetting of the tine after tripping.

The tine segment is followed by a set of leveling tools, which can be equipped with smooth or serrated discs or spring tine levelers from choice. The height and inclination of the side discs can be adjusted separately to ensure optimum match-up from bout to bout.

Eleven different rollers and various rear harrows are available for that final reconsolidation. The roller can be removed in particularly wet conditions, e.g. in spring, and work carried out without reconsolidation so that the loosened soil can dry and warm up more quickly.

The option of hydraulic depth adjustment for optimum adaptation to the respective soil conditions is particularly convenient.

The Institute for Application Techniques in Plant Protection (JKI) is constantly working on technologies and procedures to enhance the safety of humans and nature in Germany, regarding plant protection. The aim of the Institute is to optimize the use of plant protection products and contribute to a sustained increase of plant production systems.

The electric-driven micro granule applicator for the Optima HD-II and SX sowing units has been designed so it is back to back behind the sowing unit and offers a hopper capacity of 17 liters. It is electrically driven and ISOBUS controlled. The metering device developed in Soest consists of a wear-resistant plastic housing and exchangeable cell wheels made of stainless steel which ensure precise metering of the micro granules.

Operator safety

The engineers’ focus has been to increase operator safety by easy and safe handling. Therefore, the operator is able to exchange the cell wheels even when the hoppers are full of granules. There is no need to empty them first, reducing the operator’s risk of being in direct contact with the granules.

Emission control

A plus for the environment: the granulate falls freely into the seed furrow without air support, minimizing the emission of dust and complying with the current guidelines for emission control for any granulates applied.

Precision Farming

The comfortable, fully ISOBUS integrated control system allows the adaption of the stop and starts points of the seed row. This ensures precise shutting on and off at the end of the field (without overlaps or faults) and in addition, allows the switching off during tramline operation.
