Company adding two additional locations in Reno and Atlanta to join its primary distribution center in Chicago; investment brings parts closer to customers with faster delivery times

Doosan Bobcat announced plans to further expand its aftermarket parts distribution network with the addition of two new regional parts distribution centers. Joining the company’s existing Bobcat Parts Distribution Center near Chicago in Woodridge, Illinois, are new facilities in Atlanta, Georgia, and Reno, Nevada.

“This investment demonstrates our commitment to our dealers and customers, as well as Bobcat’s leadership in the industry. This expansion will help ensure faster response and delivery times to all North American customers by bringing parts closer to end-users and where they do business.”

said Mike Ballweber, president of Doosan Bobcat North America.

With accessibility to major airports and highways, these new facilities are located closer to customers and dealers, which will enhance the availability and delivery of Bobcat parts and attachment products throughout the U.S. and Canada.

These two, new state-of-the-art facilities will roughly double the company’s existing warehouse footprint by adding approximately 445,000 square feet of additional distribution and storage space to the existing 358,000-square-foot primary parts distribution center in Chicago.

The state-of-the-art distribution facilities, along with expanded customer service teams and decentralized U.S. locations, will also enable quicker order-to-delivery times and the highest level of service for aftermarket parts. The regional distribution centers offer additional benefits, including:

• Same day order processing and extended order hours
• Expanded dealer support programs and customer service hours
• Improved speed of delivery times and additional shipping carrier options

The new distribution centers are an important part of Bobcat’s overall plans to meet growing capacity needs and the demand for Bobcat equipment in the marketplace.

“With the outstanding support of dealers and the improved parts availability this expansion offers, this is an exciting step for us to enable faster service for our valued Bobcat customers and accommodate our continued growth and business demands,”

added Ballweber.

The new facilities are anticipated to become operational by the fourth quarter of 2022, and all facilities will be managed by APL Logistics. Additional facility details are forthcoming.

Expansion to double the footprint to one million square feet, increase campus to 160 acres, and add 250 jobs, will be the largest Doosan Bobcat facility worldwide

Doosan Bobcat North America announced plans for a $70 million expansion of its Statesville, N.C., manufacturing facility. The company plans to construct an additional 580,000 square feet for its manufacturing operations, which will create 250 new, full-time jobs over the next five years in Iredell County. The construction is expected to begin July 2021, with full project completion expected in May 2022.

The announcement comes on the heels of an earlier $11 million facility upgrade at Statesville, which was completed in January. This new investment will enable the company to meet the growing demand for all Doosan Bobcat products, including its Doosan Portable Power equipment and the growing line of Bobcat grounds maintenance and landscaping industry products.

“This level of investment demonstrates our commitment to North Carolina, which has been an important manufacturing location for us since 2008. We are dedicated to the continued expansion of our compact equipment line to help empower our customers to accomplish more, and our Statesville location has been an important part of this success,”

said Mike Ballweber, president of Doosan Bobcat North America.

Doosan Bobcat’s $70 million investment in the Statesville facility through construction of the new expansion spaces and equipment purchases will grow the floorplan from nearly 500,000 square feet today, to more than one million square feet when complete. The company’s acquisition of 68 acres adjacent to the current, 92-acre campus will allow for the addition of 500,000 square feet of attached manufacturing space and 80,000 square feet of attached warehouse and distribution space.

“We are thrilled that Doosan Bobcat is once again choosing to expand its operations in Statesville. For more than a decade, Doosan Portable Power has been a part of our business community and partner with the city of Statesville, and this investment strengthens and builds upon their commitment to Statesville,”

said Mayor Costi Kutteh, City of Statesville.

The investment will also bring additional employment opportunities and economic growth to the area. The Statesville operation’s current team of 400 full-time employees will grow substantially through this project, which will result in the creation of 42 new jobs in the first two years, and up to 250 new jobs in five years.

“The City of Statesville has been extremely supportive of our plans to make further investments in our employee team, facilities, and the community. We look forward to building on the strong relationship we already have with community leaders and our neighbors. This goes beyond expanding our workforce to include our support of education and charitable initiatives that will positively impact the community for decades,”

said Lance Mathern, vice president of Doosan Portable Power.

The hiring plan includes production, manufacturing engineering, and operations positions, all of which offer competitive and comprehensive benefits packages, initial and ongoing training, and the opportunity for career advancement roles.

“Doosan has been at the forefront of our employers investing in programs to inspire young people to develop the goals and skills to be successful in the 21st century. We look forward to Doosan’s continued success in Iredell County,”

said Chairman James Mallory, Iredell County Board of Commissioners.

In addition to its operations in Statesville, Doosan Bobcat has an extensive presence throughout the U.S. The company employs approximately 4,500 people at 13 facilities in seven states. Among its other U.S. facilities, Doosan Bobcat has engineering, research, and development centers in North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Arizona; a training facility in Colorado; their North American headquarters is in North Dakota; and there are manufacturing facilities in North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North Carolina.

Doosan Bobcat continues to increase its manufacturing footprint with investments in facilities across North America, including a recent $26 million expansion at its facility in Litchfield, Minnesota. These efforts are part of Bobcat’s long-term strategic growth initiatives as a global leader in the compact equipment industry, in addition to demonstrating its long-term commitment to employees and communities.

Doosan is launching its next-generation wheel loaders, the -7 Series, in the U.S. and Canada. All-new redesigned cabs with first-class comfort features, increased bucket capacities, and new, fuel-saving technologies are highlights of this next generation of Doosan wheel loaders.

Seven models of the new Doosan -7 Series wheel loaders, with standard bucket capacities between 3.7 and 7.6 cubic yards, are available now. Five additional Doosan models with bucket capacities between 2.6 and 3.3 cubic yards are planned to launch in early 2022. Wheel loaders launching in 2022 will include the popular tool carrier iterations for two models.

“While we have made enhancements to our wheel loaders during the past 15 years, this is a significant milestone in the Doosan product. The new -7 Series wheel loaders represent more than a decade of research and development, as well as incorporating feedback from our customers. The next generation of Doosan wheel loaders easily competes with any machine available today,”

says Aaron Kleingartner, dealer and product marketing manager.

New Look and New Cabs

A new, award-winning exterior design is likely the first feature customers will notice about the Doosan -7 Series wheel loaders. The completely redesigned, more comfortable cab is a close second.

The new wheel loader cab layout has relocated important and frequently used controls for easier, more intuitive use. All Doosan -7 Series wheel loaders have the same control setup, so operators won’t miss a beat when moving from machine to machine.

For improved visibility from the cab, the total glass area is 14% larger than prior models and a full glass door improves visibility on the left side. Large mirrors extend the operator’s view to the side and rear of the machine. A standard rearview camera provides an additional view of the machine’s surroundings and appears on the 8-inch Doosan Smart Touch display. Operators can raise or lower the display to a comfortable height without tools.

The heating and cooling system is redesigned from previous Doosan wheel loader generations, with new outlet locations to optimize airflow in the cab. Legroom is increased from prior generations, and additional in-cab storage has been added near the USB charging port.

The electric steering is available as an option for select -7 Series models. In models with this feature, the electronic joystick, which operators can customize to their sensitivity preference, is comfortably integrated into the left armrest.

“Its become increasingly difficult for our customers to hire heavy equipment operators. Our investments in operator comfort provide an exceptional cab that makes it a pleasant experience for long days in the cab. We’re convinced that cabs today are among the most comfortable operating stations, which we hope will help our customers retain their operators,”

Kleingartner says.

Increased Bucket Capacities and New Features To Protect Machine Uptime

Bucket capacities for select models are 7% greater than prior models. These select Doosan models include the DL320-7, DL380-7, DL480-7, and DL580-7. The increased capacity can provide faster, easier loading in fewer passes.

To enable these greater capacities, these beefed-up models feature stronger, larger axles and a strengthened box frame. Large center bearings and self-centering, double-tapered roller bearings distribute vertical and horizontal loads over a larger area. The bearings have dust seals and covers and are vented to prevent grease overfill.

The new axles offer better braking capacity to extend the lifetime of the brake discs. Other improvements that enhance durability include a new radiator with fin spacing that is 40% wider than previous generations. This wider spacing makes the radiator less prone to clogging and easier to clear of dirt, dust, and other large debris.

A standard reversible fan, adjustable from the Doosan Smart Touch screen, further improves cooling system performance. The fan is hydraulically driven with variable speeds that are proportional to the operating temperature. It easily folds out of the way for cleaning the radiator. This can be particularly useful in applications like agriculture and forestry.

An automatic lubrication system is a new factory option for Doosan -7 Series wheel loaders, and it includes full warranty coverage. The system delivers grease at the middle of the pins and bushings for better distribution.

Loaded With Smart Technologies

Doosan -7 Series wheel loaders are designed with standard technology features that owners and operators can use to make meaningful improvements to the productivity of their operations. Technologies standard on Doosan -7 Series wheel loaders include:

DoosanCONNECT telematics makes it easy for owners to monitor their Doosan fleet and manage maintenance to reduce operating costs. Using a smartphone, tablet, or computer, owners can check machine location, operating hours, fuel usage, engine idle versus work time, error codes, engine and hydraulic oil temperature, and various other data points.

Situation Awareness Technology automatically monitors the machine’s activity and adjusts the wheel loader engine’s output to match real-time requirements of the hydraulic system and drivetrain.

The Doosan Smart Guidance System analyzes operator driving habits and provides tips during operation on the Doosan Smart Touch display to improve their efficiency.

An improved Load Isolation System improves wheel loader stability while moving, which can reduce cycle times, increase productivity and boost fuel efficiency.

The new Doosan Smart Load weighing system tells the operator the weight of material in the bucket. All menus and settings are integrated into the Doosan Smart Touch screen.

The Doosan Smart Key is a key fob that can unlock the cab and allows the push-button engine to start.

“We offer a wide range of wheel loader models to meet our customers’ needs. Our 12-model lineup provides customers a variety of horsepower and capacity offerings to best match their applications. Customers operate Doosan wheel loaders in agriculture, construction, recycling, mining, snow removal, and forestry applications. Across these applications, customers can expect Doosan wheel loaders to be productive and durable,”

Kleingartner says.

Doosan Infracore North America, LLC, introduces the new DX42-5K and the DX50-5K mini excavators. The excavators are updates to the prior iterations, featuring new innovations to increase machine performance, versatility, operator comfort and reliability.

The Doosan DX42-5K and DX50-5K mini excavators demonstrate the company’s continued dedication to innovation. These models in the 4- to 5-metric-ton size class serve customers in various industries. The excavators’ compact size and mobility make them valuable for commercial and residential developments and landscape projects. In addition, the machines’ versatility makes them perfect for utility companies that perform underground construction tasks.

Performance

A new dual-flange track roller system works in tandem with an enhanced counterweight for better over-the-side digging and lifting capabilities. An integrated lift eye allows for easier craning and lifting. Operators now have the option to remove the bucket when lifting to maximize capacity with the new secure lifting point. The new DX42-5K and DX50-5K excavators have a high-performing 3-cylinder Doosan diesel engine that is more fuel-efficient. Four new tie-downs — for a total of six — provide extra security during transport. For additional dig depth and reach, a long-arm option is available for the DX42-5K and DX50-5K.

Versatility

The versatility of these mini excavators makes them a great tool for many jobs. The dozer blade’s top edge features a more durable design for added strength. The blade and frame are also designed with an angled top and rounded edges to keep material from building up on the blade and improve debris shedding. An angle blade remains an option for both models.

Easy-to-reach auxiliary hydraulic couplers are now located on the mini excavator’s arm. The repositioned couplers help reduce the time needed for operators to connect the hydraulic hoses. In addition, a new clamp diverter valve option allows operators to quickly connect another attachment without disconnecting the hydraulic clamp hoses.

Comfort

The mini excavators are standard from the factory with an enclosed, air-conditioned cab. Taller and wider windows offer better visibility, and foldable pedals offer more operator foot room. The ergonomic design also includes wider seats, responsive joystick controls, and new joystick buttons to provide additional hands-on control functions. An optional canopy is available for customers who prefer an open operating station.

Operators can monitor and troubleshoot with additional easily available data on the 5-inch display panel. These models are available with an optional integrated rearview camera for enhanced all-around visibility.

Durability

The new Doosan DX42-5K and DX50-5K mini excavators are designed with modifications to improve machine durability. For example, the mini excavator’s panels come together for a tighter and better fit.

The new DX42-5K and DX50-5K excavators are part of a family of mini excavators. Doosan offers six models in its mini excavator lineup — from the DX35-5 to the DX85R-3 — to serve customers with a variety of size classes and machine capabilities. The six Doosan mini excavators complement the company’s larger crawler excavator models, offering a full line of excavating equipment.

Doosan equipment customers can receive their new, specifically configured machines faster in the United States and Canada thanks to a streamlined fulfillment process from Doosan Infracore North America, LLC.

Whether a crawler excavator with narrow tracks or a wheel loader with a counterweight, Doosan machines could arrive 4-6 weeks after the order is submitted. A team of dedicated Doosan employees, including a manufacturing engineer, at the company’s North American customization plant in Savannah, GA, oversee equipment final assembly and inspections stateside. The customization plant allows Doosan to provide machines sooner to Doosan dealers and customers nationwide.

Edward Song, CEO of Doosan Infracore North America, LLC says:

“Doosan is always innovating and refining our processes to better serve our customers. Our new fulfillment process allows us to deliver the exact machines customers need more quickly, all with the Doosan quality that our customers expect.”

About 75% of Doosan machines sold in the United States and Canada will benefit from the process, including crawler excavators, wheel excavators, mini excavators and wheel loaders. The strategic approach allows Doosan to outfit equipment with requests such as crawler excavator track shoe changes, cab guarding, work lamps, beacons, counterweights, excavator dozer blades and more.

The North American customization plant follows the opening of two Doosan-exclusive parts distribution centers; one in Suwanee, GA, where Doosan is headquartered, and a West Coast facility in Lacey, WA. The combined 157,000 sq. ft. of U.S. warehouse space help Doosan provide faster parts delivery, more inventory and better service options to customers and dealers across the United States and Canada.

Song says:

“The proximity of the customization plant in Savannah to our headquarters in Suwanee allows for enhanced collaboration. This collaboration will further heighten our level of service to our Doosan dealers and customers in the United States and Canada.”

This new Doosan mini excavator features a reduced tail swing profile — just 4.9 inches of side overhang — that allows customers to work in confined areas with more flexibility to maneuver and without sacrificing performance. The addition of the DX62R-3 mini excavator expands the model options within the compact market segment for Doosan customers.

The design of the DX62R-3 utilizes the basics of the existing Doosan mini-excavator and builds on it by adjusting the positioning of the excavator upper structure to the undercarriage to reduce tail swing length. Moving the swing center forward extends the machine’s digging reach by 11 inches while maintaining the desired machine balance. Reduced tail swing machines require less repositioning when operating, helping the operator work more efficiently.

This model is the answer for customers who need to work within urban environments where space is limited. The DX62R-3 is ideal for a variety of jobs in landscaping, utilities, and commercial and residential construction.

Aaron Kleingartner, Doosan Infracore North America marketing manager says:

“We realize that not every customer has the luxury of space when working on a job site, so we wanted to create a quality option for those situations. This model will be an ideal companion to our existing excavator lineup to ensure that all needs are met.”
