Titan International manufacturer of Titan Tires, Titan Wheels and Goodyear Farm Tires, is responding after Wednesday’s reports focused on Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company’s alleged diversity training document that gained nationwide attention.

Titan CEO, Paul Reitz, said:

“Wednesday morning, we learned of the news being shared about Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company’s reported diversity training and felt it was important to make clear that Titan is in no way connected to the training in question. While Titan has licensing rights to design, produce and sell the Goodyear Farm Tires brand, we are an entirely separate publicly held entity under separate management and have no shared staff or facilities with Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company.”

The fight for American jobs

President Trump has repeatedly expressed support for U.S. manufacturers through his “Buy America” campaign. Titan has long-been a champion of American manufacturing and has invested heavily in legal action to protect American manufacturing jobs. In 2017, Titan won a favorable 5-0 ruling from the ITC fighting back against the unfair trade practices from India and Sri Lanka related to off-road tires. In this respect, President Trump and Titan are well-aligned in protecting the more than 2100 hard-working Americans employed by Titan in multiple manufacturing facilities across Illinois, Iowa, Ohio and Tennessee who proudly build Goodyear Farm Tires, along with Titan Wheels and Titan Tires.

Titan has also played a vital role as an essential service during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. When others shut down, Titan ensured safe operation to keep America’s vital workforce working with the equipment they need to do their jobs.

“One of our primary concerns as a manufacturer is the safety of our employees. Titan is proud of the important role we play in our nation’s critical infrastructure during the COVID-19 pandemic, as our plants have continued to operate safely in support of the farming and construction industries,”

said Reitz.

“Titan has a diverse workforce throughout all of our locations in the U.S. that build some of the world’s best agriculture, construction, and forestry wheels and tires. While at work, we believe our employees should be focused on operating safely and manufacturing high-quality products, and therefore employees are allowed to wear what they would like as long as it meets safety standards and isn’t offensive. Our employees take tremendous pride in our products and we welcome any politician, customer, farmer, construction operator, or just curious folks that would like to see how we operate and meet the fine men and women that we employ.”

said Reitz.

The ripple effects

In addition to Titan’s 2100 hard-working employees across the United States, Titan and Goodyear Farm Tires are sold at nearly 2,000 local tire dealers across the country. And a misguided movement to cancel Goodyear Farm Tires — manufactured and sold by a completely separate company from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company — could adversely affect thousands of additional hard-working family-owned tire businesses across the country.

Texas Corn Producers Association (TCPA) was invited to Midland, Texas, to attend President Donald Trump’s remarks on restoring American energy superiority. Trump briefed Texas producers, businesspeople and government representatives on his administration’s efforts to reduce regulations, streamline the permitting of projects, and incentivize private investment in energy infrastructure.

Kyla Hamilton, a TCPA board member, and her husband Cole attended the presidential visit on behalf of the ethanol and corn industry in Texas. The Shallowater farmers said having the ethanol industry represented in America’s energy conversation is imperative.

Ethanol’s role in energy production is key to ensuring America’s national security. Corn farmers found ways to produce more crops with less land, which has reduced ethanol’s carbon footprint. Now, ethanol is creating 41 percent lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions than baseline gasoline. Because of efforts such as these, for the first time since 1970, annual gross energy exports officially passed gross energy imports, which made America the dominant energy-producing nation in the world.

Trump said:

“With the tremendous progress we have made over the past three years, America is now energy independent. Instead of relying on foreign oil and foreign energy, we are now relying on American energy and American workers like never before.”

In addition to the industry’s accomplishments, Trump briefed the recent deregulatory actions taken by his administration. He read his plan to benefit American consumers and the energy sector by lowering costs, expediting projects and extinguishing unnecessary regulatory hurdles.

As a farmer who has traveled to D.C. to advocate for building trade relationships though the United States Mexico and Canada (USMCA) trade agreement, Hamilton was most excited to witness the signing of policy that will lay a fuel pipeline directly to Mexico.

“Even though the event took place in the West Texas dust, it was a breath of fresh air to be in attendance,” Hamilton said. “This was the first time I have seen as many people on the same page in the same place focused on one issue for one hour in a long time.”

Hamilton said she hopes the President follows up by continuing to drive the conversation and efforts to progress the energy industry to utilize environmentally friendly, renewable fuels such as ethanol. Infusing the energy market with clean-burning ethanol supports both America’s energy independence and benefits the environment for generations to come.

Hamilton said:

“Our industry is in the middle of a huge forward push for progressive fuels. I hope ethanol continues to be a part of the conversation for our administration, so farmers feel supported and encouraged to contribute to the movement.”

TCPA remains hopeful that the administration continues its support of this valuable corn market by ensuring the original intent of promoting domestic ethanol production through the Continuing this dialogue with the administration and legislature is a key part of the association’s efforts.

American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall will join the Great American Economic Revival Industry Group focused on agriculture. President Donald Trump created 17 groups to help shape plans to reopen the economy following the COVID-19 pandemic.

The following statement may be attributed to American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall:

“I’m honored to have been chosen by President Trump to join the Great Economic Revival Industry group focusing on agriculture. America’s farmers and ranchers are deeply committed to feeding the nation during this crisis, but there are mounting challenges threatening their ability to keep putting food on Americans’ tables.

The lost food service and restaurant market due to the COVID-19 shutdown hit America’s farm families hard. The prices paid to farmers and ranchers have spiraled down, and in some cases, demand has disappeared, despite empty grocery shelves. No one is more eager than farmers to get the economy humming again. It’s imperative that we do this in a manner that keeps our families, neighbors, coworkers and communities safe.

We look forward to working with fellow agricultural leaders and the Trump administration to ensure healthy, affordable food continues to be available to families across the country and farmers are able to hold on as we return to some sense of normalcy in America.”
