The DX300LL-5 and DX380LL-5 road builders are designed for use in forestry and logging applications. Within the forestry industry, they are operated in access road development, timber harvesting, log loading, and millwork. The road builders are often the first machines on a site, used to build access roads or clear a path for other forestry equipment. Customers can also find uses for them in construction demolition or crushing tasks.

These models are iterations of the current DX300LL-5 and DX380LL-5 log loaders. They provide a package designed to perform road-building tasks. Customers can carry out the tasks needed on a typical forestry access site with a complete product offering.

Comfort and power

Due to the nature of work that the DX300LL-5 and DX380LL-5 perform, they offer exceptional power and operator comfort. Operators can stay comfortable in the enclosed excavator cab or optional forestry cab. A standard excavator cab simplifies machine transport due to its lower height. Extra cab guarding is available, further protecting the machine to reduce downtime.

The road builders pair parts of Doosan log loaders and excavators for maximum efficiency and power. The models combine a log loader mainframe with an excavator boom and arm front configuration. Traditional excavator attachments are available to pair with the new road builders. Road builders and attachments can remove tree stumps and logs, and clear paths for access roads to the harvesting sites.

 Durability and reliability

The road builders also feature design elements to enhance machine durability and reliability. The DX300LL-5 and DX380LL-5 road builders’ undercarriages can forge across rough terrain. The high, wide undercarriage travels across exposed stumps, brush, and forest foliage. Heavy-duty track links and full-length track guiding guards increase undercarriage durability.

Customers can monitor their equipment with DoosanCONNECT Telematics, so even in remote locations the Doosan equipment’s location and health are accounted for with satellite device communication. In addition, Doosan dealers can monitor their customers’ machines and respond to parts and service needs in a timely manner.

Several new features give operators even more options and precision while maintaining the intuitive, easy-to-use aspects of the system:

• A new customizable interface for In-Field Design makes it easier to draw shapes for building foundations and custom trenches.
• A new angle grid screen makes it faster and easier to draw shapes in Plan and Profile modes. With the angled grid, operators can touch the screen and drag the corners of the shape they’re drawing to easily keep their side parameters square or in line.
• Operators can configure the top bar to show more information, including angles of the bucket relative to the surface, the pitch and roll of the machine, distance to line, and a compass if desired.
• The ability to use Trimble Earthworks with Dig Assist, or upgrade to have Topcon 3DMC, whichever is preferred.
• The ability to use Dig Assist with additional attachments, including a SteelWrist Rotator, Tilt Bucket, and Tilt Coupler.
• Team Viewer enables a dealer and Volvo technicians to access the Co-Pilot display remotely to help customers diagnose and solve issues in real-time.
• Additional joystick presets allow multiple operators to set their own preferences when using a single machine.

Dig Assist, which Volvo introduced in North America in 2017, is available on 20 of the company’s medium and large crawler and wheeled excavators. Last year, Dig Assist Start, the basic package of the machine control system, was made standard on new EC220E to EC480E crawler excavator models. Machines that currently run Dig Assist can be updated to the new version via a software update from their local Volvo CE dealer.

Take Dig Assist even further

With Dig Assist, operators can also use the semi-autonomous Volvo Active Control system, currently available on EC220E, EC250E, and EC300E excavators. It uses the machine’s computer to guide the digging process and prevent operators from digging below the programmed depth. With its speed and precision, Volvo Active Control can cut grading time by up to 45% compared with conventional grading.

The standard narrow tracks keep the machine’s width to just 36 inches. Depending on the size of the attachment, operators can easily slip through doorways and fence gates. The newly updated EW60E wheeled excavator from Volvo Construction Equipment is now even more versatile and powerful than ever before. Now with greater fuel efficiency and improved hydraulics, the EW60E makes light of a wide range of excavator tasks.

Among the new features is a new hydraulic main control valve that offers additional functionality. When a higher hydraulic flow is required for a particular movement, the main control valve is able to combine the flow of several pumps to optimize the machine operation. Particularly for grading, flow can be combined into the arm cylinder to make arm speed faster. Not only is the EW60E now more versatile, it is also more efficient. This comes courtesy of a new engine management feature – ECO mode. Fitted as standard, ECO mode lowers the engine speed – but without any impact on performance, resulting in reduced fuel consumption.

Go with the flow

For high controllability, productivity and a comfortable operating experience the EW60E is equipped with responsive controls that ensure smooth movements, as well as adjustable hydraulic flow. Four-wheel drive and a top speed of 30kmph guarantee excellent mobility on and off road. Well-balanced driveline, and the front axle locks while working for optimum stability. This machine offers improved traction, excellent swing force and high lifting capacity to achieve outstanding results, fast. With a compact design, long arm, and optional fixed boom and offset boom, the versatile and powerful EC60E is suitable for a large range of applications.

Power + control = easier, faster operation

To ensure optimum performance shift after shift, this machine is equipped with a Volvo Stage V/Tier 4 final engine and adjustable hydraulic flow. The effective cooling system is driven by 44.3kW of power to eliminate overheating.

The EC60E’s highly responsive controls ensure the machine does exactly what the operator intends for fluent movement throughout operation.
